The sturdy aluminum frame helps you to be able to have light body travel, giving you the ultimate riding experience on the trail. Meanwhile, the exhilarating 27.5+ tires are wide and grippy. And the SR Suntour fork with 120mm of travel can ease your adventure sprint, allowing you to experience the thrill of flying like a trail veteran.
It is worth mentioning that the Shimano drivetrain has 10 speeds and various gears for climbing, giving you a silky smooth shift operation.

Trek Roscoe 6 Climbing Review
The Trek Roscoe 6 is the ideal model for mountain biking. Its easy-to-use 1x drivetrain and playful frame geometry make it easier to control your bike on technical trails and winding single-track trails.
Needless to say, the sturdy aluminum frame is a very cost-effective choice. It not only has a very high strength but also has a very good price guarantee. And with two options for your size (27.5×2.80″ and 29×2.40″), the right size will make your ride easier. In addition, the tapered head tube provides you with more precise and confident control at the front end.
I didn’t feel any discomfort when I was aiming for an upper body trail with a 25° slope. In addition, the 71.7° seat tube angle allows me to distribute my weight well without creating an overly reclined stance. The versatility of the Bonrtrageer xr3 series tires allows for excellent performance on complex terrain. The smaller center knob also allows you to maintain speed. And the aggressive side knobs add confidence in cornering, while the advanced rubber compound and high-strength casing make facing the ascent less difficult than you might think.
The Trek Roscoe 6 is also undaunted by the onslaught of debris and dead branches. Because the SR Suntour XCM 32 has 120mm of travel, the coil springs resist gravel attacks on bumpy roads in a single rise and fall. Some may have some doubts and concerns about it. But personally, the BOOST MTB fork with 32mm struts and speed lock adds power to your climbing ascents. Considering the relatively low price, this is not a bad choice.
Trek Roscoe 6 Descending Review
Of course, the Trek Roscoe 6 still performs extremely well not only on the ascents but also on the winding and rough descents. This is mainly due to the Shimano Deore M4100, 10-speed adjustment mechanism. Even on gravel descents with a 30° gradient, it still has a smooth, natural, and light instant shift function. A special internal kit is also available with gear cables. These cables have improved and extended their performance, giving them an ergonomic shape.
On the descent, I just cranked to the highest gear to maintain my stability, while it didn’t cost me a lot of air. Also, the wide 27.5+ Bontrager XR3 tires provide more confidence. Of course, Trek will also have a satisfactory attitude in after-sales service. If you are not satisfied within thirty days of purchase, you can exchange or refund. This is something that makes me feel its friendliness.
Some people may be concerned about whether the overly wide tires will cause extra trouble with the steering of the ride. The Trek Roscoe 6 compensates for this in terms of geometry. First, the 1081mm wheelbase length and 438mm rear fork length gave me confidence in cornering sections. Even when I was faced with an extremely aggressive cornering section, I still had agile body control.
Secondly, the mountain shuttle is a complete test for emergency braking. Obviously, the Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc eliminates this concern. It is set up with a convenient 75mm reach. This means that no matter how small your hands are, the lever is always within reach. Despite the fact that I encountered some emergencies during the descent, I didn’t feel the muscle fatigue I used to feel. Indeed, it gave me some interesting experiences in drifting as well as braking.
In conclusion, the Trek Roscoe 6 is a great off-road hardtail vehicle. If you are new to off-road riding, then it is sure to bring back some great riding memories.
I have to say that Trek Roscoe 6 has an instantly appealing Purple Flip paint color scheme. Of course, if the designers would have tried more other colors, especially my favorite Sky Blue, I would have been willing to pay for that as well. Also, the artful matching of the drivetrain, brakes, and locking will impress you with its appearance. Moreover, the reduced rear shock absorber design simplifies the body structure, even more, thus making it more popular among minimalist lovers. We also see that it has thoughtfully installed a water bottle mounting device at the downtube. Through precise calculation, the designers left a capacity of two cups of water bottles in it. The larger storage capacity solves the problem of water shortage in the body caused by the boat trip.
In terms of the material it still chooses the more favorable aluminum alloy. Although it is not as light as carbon, considering its current set price and lower maintenance costs, I am happy to accept this.
If you are a skilled XC racer, you will clearly feel the profound impact that geometry can have on your ride. In this regard, the Trek Roscoe 6 did not disappoint me either. It has an effective seat tube angle of 71.1°, allowing me to maintain a perfect seating experience on the way up.
Also due to the 29er tire size, the Trek Roscoe 6 has a conservative wheelbase strategy (105.9cm) in order to offset the steering difficulties. So you don’t have to worry about how much of a hindrance the steering will be. The shorter rear wheelbase also gives you great confidence in sharp corners.
Components and Specifications
Shimano Deore M4100, 10 speed Drivetrain
I’ve always had great confidence in the Shimano brand, and that’s what years of riding have taught me. The convenient and simple fuel line connection system makes your installation and adjustment process easier and more convenient. Clearly, the 1x is one of the simpler drivetrains available, and you can easily solve the problem of inadequate power delivery. Whether it’s a gravelly flowing trail or a slippery mossy road, you get an easy shift operation. You don’t have to worry about a failure to turn the axle during rotation, which Shimano handles very well.
Bontrager XR3 Tires
The Bontrager XR3 is the latest addition to the Bontrager line, a dedicated mountain bike tire that allows you to go all out in the race and perform well in all conditions.
Its tread pattern allows me to face the muddy ground without fear that the mud will make my tires heavier and cause difficulty in riding.
Because of its raised surface pattern, it makes it easier for me to get rid of the mud that sticks to the bike while adding puncture protection allows it to have a longer life.
In addition, the 27.5×2.80” tires are still a guarantee of stable mountain travel, even in the face of wet and muddy roads in the rain can also seem easy.
Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Disc Brake
The SHIMANO MT200 hydraulic disc brake has an excellent top-of-the-line configuration that provides adjustable braking power for entry-level riders. It will perform extremely well in terms of braking.
And, the Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc is also friendly for newbies. It is easy to install, fast and smooth, and can also be fitted with a 1700mm rear cable. Even in case of an emergency, you can brake quickly and accurately.

SR Suntour XCM 32 Fork
I have to admit that the SR Suntour XCM 32 is still controversial in the market. Personally, I’m still happy with its performance. As an entry-level BOOST mountain bike fork, it comes with 32mm struts and a speed locker for climbing on the fly. Also, the 120mm travel is something it can brag about. In addition, the 2.50 to 2.60 inches on the 33mm rim gives me a smoother natural riding experience. If you are an entry-level mountain biker, then maybe the SR Suntour XCM 32 is a good choice for once.
Other versions of Trek Roscoe
In order to give you more options, we tested other models of the Trek Roscoe in an objective and unbiased manner, and we took them on a time trial. These include the Trek Roscoe 8 and the Trek Roscoe 9.
Perhaps the Trek Roscoe 6 doesn’t have a big advantage in terms of body weight, as the 15.4kg weight makes it too bulky. And Suntour XCM is not the best in terms of strength, but perhaps it will be friendly for newcomers.
The Trek Roscoe 8 and Trek Roscoe 9, meanwhile, will have a choice in tire selection. They are not limited to the 27.5” size but can choose wider and thicker 29″ tires. Finally, 1X12 speeds are standard for mountain bikes, and the Trek Roscoe 6 is ultimately a little low for rugged trail riding. But if you’re new to off-roading and just facing easy gravel trails, then the Trek Roscoe 6 is still your friendliest choice.

2023 Trek Roscoe 6 vs 2023 Trek Roscoe 7
I have to admit that the Trek Roscoe 7 has a much lighter build with the weight options. You can easily lift it up to get over those impassable roadblocks when you encounter some impassable roads. Of course, the RockShox Recon Silver RL uses optimized materials concentrated in the support and sealing areas for excellent stiffness and steering precision in the fork selection. Combined with the 15x100mm or 15x110mm axle size, and the eMTB configuration fork with fender mounting points (OE only), it makes for an extremely high-quality damping experience in real-world riding.
Not only that, it will have more freedom in the choice of tires. You can choose from 27.5″ or 29′ to help you cope with the complex ground. If you’re willing to spend a little more money, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the Trek Roscoe 7.
Of course, the Trek Roscoe 6 has a more friendly price. In addition, the 2.8″ Bontrager XR3 Comp tires are easier to handle for novices.
Worth mentioning is the Bontrager XR Trail Comp grip on the Trek Roscoe 6. In my actual riding, it makes me feel more reliable. Also, this grip comes with a finned textured pattern that also gives me stronger support while riding.
So if you’re on a budget and are a beginner, this Trek Roscoe 6 is great value for money.
2023 Trek Roscoe 6 vs 2023 Marin Bobcat Trail 5
The two have very high similarities in the body and fork travel, and the same aluminum alloy surface will have a higher strength and toughness. And I would like to say that the maintenance of the body is also counted in the whole budget, I previously spent a lot of dollars on the repair of damage to the body. Therefore, easy maintenance is one of the factors we need to consider. At the same time, 120mm of travel is standard for mountain bikes, and it can be useful when you encounter some thorny and bumpy gravel roads.
In fact, the Trek Roscoe 6 has the same standard features as these mountain bikes, whether it’s the 120mm fork travel or the relatively tough frame. And in my actual riding comparisons, I personally felt the Trek Roscoe 6 was more stable.
For this reason, I carefully looked at the relevant geometry data and the Trek Roscoe 6 has a relatively higher trail (151mm), so I would prefer the Trek Roscoe 6 in terms of speed stability.
If, on the other hand, you like to maintain a more consistent speed on undulating roads, I think this Trek Roscoe 6 is worth trying.
2023 Trek Roscoe 6 vs 2022 Voodoo Bizango Pro Mountain Bike
In my opinion, the Voodoo Bizango Pro Mountain Bike has a relatively high configuration for a low price. It uses the more popular RockShox 35 Gold RL in the fork, which gives you a smoother ride in the rocky mountains, but in practice, I’m more comfortable on the Maxxis High Roller EXO TR tires than the Trek Roscoe 6. Roscoe 6.
Because of that, the bike’s 30tpi Bontrager XR3 Comp tires come with relatively prominent side knobs, which provide more reliable cornering traction when I hit a turn.
If you need more paths through corners, I think the Trek Roscoe 6 would be more suitable.
2023 Trek Roscoe 6 vs 2022 Co-op DRT 2.1
First of all, the Co-op DRT 2.1 does not take advantage of the weight of the body, 33.8 pounds is still a small flaw. Because as a professional rider, the weight of the body is one of the more important factors.
Of course, the Trek Roscoe 6 is not relatively lightweight either. But in practice, the 27.5×2.80” tires give me a more stable ride while still being flexible.
Also, if you are careful enough, you may notice that the head tube angle (68°) on the Co-op DRT 2.1 can be relatively steep. This might make you think that this Co-op DRT 2.1 might be relatively easy in the climbs, but in my actual riding comparisons, I didn’t feel that way. Instead, I would feel that the Trek Roscoe 6 was faster on the descent.
So if you need an off-road vehicle for off-road sprinting, then the Co-op DRT 2.1 might be a good choice. But if lighter weight and relatively nimble control are more important to you, you might want to try the Trek Roscoe 6.
