Trek FX+ 2 Commuter Riding Review

I believe most of the users who choose electric bikes are as fed up with the hot summer days and sweaty pedaling experience as I am. But since I got the Trek FX+ 2, I can feel that my commute is extra smooth, and you can feel it with me. Because I feel happy riding the Trek FX+ 2 to and from work every day.

First of all, the near upright riding position makes me feel very comfortable because I hate riding bent over. Whereas the aggressive geometry position of the racing road bike is fast, I felt like my back was going to break after a few minutes of riding. If you too like to ride upright, or if you want a wider view of the ride, the Trek FX+ 2 is not to be missed. And maybe if your parents like to ride, you might want to consider it for them.

Secondly, every time I rode it on a flat road, I felt like someone was gently pushing me forward, a very real, natural feeling. Especially in the hot summertime, I don’t experience the sticky feeling of sweat anymore. I have to say that the 250w hub motor is an excellent aid for this.

In addition, the Bontrager XR Endurance Comp grip has a very ergonomic design. It is so comfortable that it feels like it was custom-made for me. At the same time, the Shimano hydraulic disc braking is very fast and natural, giving me a sense of security by being able to stop whenever I’m on a street with a lot of traffic and facing an unexpected situation.

Most importantly, I used to struggle with mud and water getting wet or dirty on my pants when traveling after rain, but the Trek FX+ 2’s fender mounts solved this problem completely.

In addition to commuting on weekdays, I also ride around the city for fitness or a ride during my free time on vacation.

I enjoy riding it to feel the natural scenery. Imagine riding it gently on a flowery gravel path in the countryside and feeling the breeze on your cheek, it is so relaxing and natural.

And the Bontrager H2 Comp’s tires (700x40c) have great passing power, so they can conquer the usual gravel trails.

Occasionally, I make full use of its rear rack and water bottle cage to load up my duffel bag and water bottle and set off for camping.

Focused on user comfort, the Trek FX+ 2 has an almost perfect geometry. Its geometry is almost similar to that of our most popular road bikes but more relaxed. The ultra-high Stack/Reach Ratio (1.65, size L or XL) allows you to keep an almost straight stance and ride in a relaxed position to challenge you over long distances.

Yet, it does not lose the geometry of a typical mountain bike. The longer Wheelbase (1,109mm, size L) makes the Trek FX+ 2 quite stable, so even on gravel trails, the Trek FX+ 2 performs quite comfortably.

Slightly steeper head tube angles (71.0°, size L) with Seat tube angles (73.0°) give the Trek FX+ 2 a trail-like appearance again for climbing and cruising.

Overall, the almost perfect geometry makes the Trek FX+ 2 an all-around bike that supports both urban road trips and trips to the countryside fields.

HyDrive Hub Drive Motor, 40Nm, 250W Motor

The HyDrive hub drive motor is the reason why Trek FX+ 2 gives users a fast, comfortable, and natural riding experience.

First of all, we should get the point across that the motor exists to assist the ride, not to replace it. Therefore 40mm of torque is perfectly adequate in general. Thanks to multi-sensing technology and a unique system firmware algorithm, the HyDrive hub drive motor maintains its optimal performance, assisting speeds of up to 20 mph while providing a natural “bike-like” ride beyond imagination.

With the help of the motor, I could feel that both sprinting and climbing were extraordinarily easy. At the same time, whether it was a hot summer day or a long-distance journey, I could no longer feel the fear of being dominated by sweat.

Another reason I like the HyDrive hub drive motor is that it is quiet enough. So quiet that you can not feel its presence, and probably because of this, it is easy for people to ignore its pay.

Secondly, the rugged 30 TPI construction is built to last. So whether it’s city streets or gravel trails, the wide Bontrager H2 Comp is extremely passable and gives you plenty of confidence.
