Specifications

The Specialized Sirrus 1.0 is an excellent fitness bicycle. It features a Specialized A1 Premium Aluminum frame and a Hi-Ten steel fork, providing strong shock absorption while maintaining a lightweight and sturdy frame. It has a clean internal cable routing design, making maintenance a breeze. However, its 2×7 drivetrain, composed of a Shimano Altus rear derailleur and Shimano Tourney FD-TY710-2 front derailleur, is relatively average. Its performance isn’t outstanding, and the gear range and shifting may not be as smooth.

This bicycle is equipped with V-brakes for the braking system. Rim brakes offer average performance and are prone to malfunctions. Nevertheless, the RoadSport tires perform quite well, featuring Specialized’s classic multi-surface tread pattern and a three-layer Endurant casing. These tires are lightweight and enhance speed, grip, and durability.

Other Versions

After numerous tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It’s an outstanding fitness bicycle. However, many riders have their own performance and component requirements. Therefore, we have conducted further research into similar types of bicycles.

It also boasts a high-performance hydraulic disc brake system for efficient and timely stopping, ensuring rider safety. Its 1×11 drivetrain offers a wide gear range and silky-smooth shifting. The single derailleur design effectively prevents chain drops. However, the Sirrus X 1.0 is slightly faster than the Sirrus X 4.0, with a speed limit of 31mph for the latter.

Additionally, the Specialized Sirrus X 4.0 offers a more comfortable riding experience than the Sirrus X 1.0, with a larger 1.61 stack/reach ratio. However, they share the same head tube angle and BB drop. Nonetheless, the Sirrus X 4.0 has a larger trail, providing enhanced speed stability, while the Sirrus X 1.0, with its lower trail, offers faster and more agile steering capabilities.

Specialized Sirrus 1.0 vs. Marin Kentfield 1

Marin Kentfield 1
Marin Kentfield 1

These two bicycles both feature aluminum frames, steel forks, and aluminum wheels. However, the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 uses rim brakes for its braking system, while the Marin Kentfield 1 employs mechanical disc brakes. Rim brakes, while lightweight, offer only average braking performance. Additionally, they tend to accumulate excessive heat during extended downhill rides, which can negatively impact the bike’s braking and wheels. On the other hand, the Marin Kentfield 1’s mechanical disc brakes provide relatively good braking performance, are easy to maintain, and are convenient for repairs when damaged.

Furthermore, the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 is equipped with a 2×7 drivetrain, whereas the Marin Kentfield 1 utilizes a 1×7 drivetrain. The 1×7 drivetrain effectively prevents chain drops. However, the Marin Kentfield 1 has a maximum speed of only 30mph, while the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 offers a faster speed, reaching up to 33mph.

Specialized Sirrus 1.0 vs. Jamis ALLEGRO A3 Step-Over Frame

Jamis ALLEGRO A3 Step-Over Frame
Jamis ALLEGRO A3 Step-Over Frame

From a geometric perspective, the Jamis ALLEGRO A3 Step-Over Frame has a stack/reach ratio of 1.34, which is relatively aggressive. It sacrifices some comfort for efficiency, allowing riders to exert more force efficiently when pedaling. On the other hand, the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 has a stack/reach ratio of 1.43, offering a milder geometry. This allows riders to maintain a more upright position during cycling. Riding in an upright posture can open up the chest, making long-distance rides more comfortable.

The Jamis ALLEGRO A3 Step-Over Frame has a 71° head tube angle, which is slightly steeper than the 70° head tube angle of the Specialized Sirrus 1.0. A larger head tube angle makes the bike’s steering more agile, while a slightly smaller head tube angle tends to provide more stability. However, the former has a larger BB drop, which lowers the bike’s center of gravity, resulting in a more stable ride. But this can also lead to a lower pedal position, which might cause issues when turning or navigating obstacles.

Specialized Sirrus 1.0 vs. CUBE SL ROAD RACE

CUBE SL ROAD RACE
CUBE SL ROAD RACE

The CUBE SL ROAD RACE features a carbon fork, while the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 is equipped with a steel fork. A steel fork offers strong shock absorption but comes with added weight. In contrast, a carbon fork has less elastic deformation, a higher natural frequency, good shock damping, and is lightweight. However, it is more prone to breaking upon impact with sharp objects. Additionally, the CUBE SL ROAD RACE is capable of achieving a higher riding speed than the Specialized Sirrus 1.0, reaching speeds of up to 36mph.

It’s worth noting that the CUBE SL ROAD RACE uses a highly effective hydraulic disc brake system. Although it is heavier compared to rim brakes, hydraulic disc brakes are currently more popular due to their superior performance. Moreover, its 2×11 drivetrain provides a smoother gear-shifting experience, a wider range of gears, and overall better performance.

Specialized Sirrus 1.0 vs. Merida SPEEDER 400

Merida SPEEDER 400
Merida SPEEDER 400

The Merida SPEEDER 400 boasts an excellent 2×11 drivetrain. Compared to the Specialized Sirrus 1.0, which is equipped with a 2×7 drivetrain, the 2×11 drivetrain offers a broader range of gears and smoother gear shifting. Additionally, the Merida SPEEDER 400 achieves higher speeds, reaching up to 39mph, whereas the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 has a slower speed, maxing out at 33mph.

In terms of geometry, the Merida SPEEDER 400 has a larger stack/reach ratio of 1.46, providing a more relaxed and comfortable riding experience. On the other hand, the Specialized Sirrus 1.0 features a more aggressive geometry, offering higher riding efficiency. The Specialized Sirrus 1.0 has a smaller head tube angle, longer BB drop, and provides a very stable ride. Its lower trail also contributes to a smoother ride. In contrast, the Merida SPEEDER 400’s larger head tube angle, smaller BB drop, and greater trail make for a highly agile ride.
