The Carrera Impel IM is the latest addition to the affordable and high-quality Carrera family. The electric-assist series is a great option for those who are not as proficient in cycling and want to effectively exercise with a bike. Riding Experience

Carrera Impel Im

I like Impel’s frame, it’s done very well for the $1,000 price point. The clean welds, hydraulic forming, and neatly integrated battery into the downtube are details that I usually only find on the most expensive e-bikes. There’s also a feature I haven’t seen on other electric bikes – the battery is very easy to remove, so I can carry it with me and charge it at home instead of having to park the bike at a specific charging station.

The neatly combined system is amazing! The compact LCD and the integrated front light wiring that runs through the entire head tube and frame give the bike a high-quality appearance. The display and controller panel have a clear display, with a button to easily cycle between three modes. In addition, there’s a USB output port.

The battery capacity claims to be able to do 50 miles of recharge mile, which looks very generous. But in my actual riding, its actual recharge mile reached 30.1 miles during climbing and 39.7 miles on flat terrain. This range is consistent with similar e-bike batteries that I’ve tested.

Commute Riding

The riding experience is very good. The 650b wheels, shorter wheelbase, and fairly upright riding position, combined with the wider handlebars, make the overall ride very easy. But it’s still lightweight enough to fly through the bustling traffic. The 47mm tires provide enough cushioning and suspension for off-road shortcuts.

The wide handlebars with a slight rear sweep angle shorten my reach when riding, making me more comfortable and upright, and better able to control the handlebars. It must balance the relaxed head tube angle.

My commuting route isn’t great, but it can maintain stability on many rough city roads. The smooth V-shaped tires are very rounded and very firm, with a good grip even in wet conditions. Although they lack a bit of flexibility, it’s a fair balance for good puncture protection.

Weekend Exercise

The basic 9-speed rear derailleur is a perfect match, and the simple single chainring has proven to be accurate and reliable. The 38/11 top is big enough to maintain speed, while the 38/36 bottom has 45Nm of torque to tackle those steep hills, far exceeding most city commuter bikes.

When traversing a long downhill, Tektro brakes always keep me at ease. Even though it may lack progressive braking, it still stops very well. I cannot expect to have more control options on an electric bike because it cannot have very high speeds, and an integrated device is what I value more.

There are many contact points on the saddle and handlebars, where you can install many lights and other accessories like bells, in other words, providing more functional options for my bike. The IM-2 combines comfort and maneuverability, and the motor provides ample power, with excellent equipment. Overall, the Carrera Impel IM-2 is a bike that is better than the sum of its parts. Riding is just right, and its position is the golden zone for commuting, making it very enjoyable. By the way, if you want to go riding in well-known terrain or special terrain, you can book your accommodation on IHG Hotels & Resorts. It is not only rich in variety but also easy to operate.

This range is already sufficient for most commuters. Its compact charger can go from empty to full in five and a half hours, making it perfect for charging while at work.
