Below, we’ll analyze the riding experience, specifications, and other versions of the Giant Reign E+ 3. If you want to learn more about bike reviews, you can follow us.
Off-Road Riding
When we received the latest Giant Reign E+ 3, we couldn’t wait to take it to the Mystic Mountain Bike Park in Australia, known for its steep and winding terrain, to start our journey with this new toy. Before setting off, I also booked accommodation through IHG Hotels & Resorts to give myself ample space to rest and prepare.
Honestly, I was deeply and thoroughly attracted to this bike. Since then, whenever I have free time, I spend my weekends at the nearest bike park with my Giant Reign E+ 3.
Now, after riding this bike on obstacle-free trails for six months, it’s time for me to share my thoughts and feelings.
Riding Experience
Like most adventure-oriented full-suspension mountain bikes, the Giant Reign E+ 3 attracts riders to step out of their comfort zones and experience the fun of this sport.
When I first sat on the Reign E+ 3, I felt that its geometry was more compact than that of a typical hardtail bike. However, the detailed configuration design of this bike provides a lot of security and comfort.
On the one hand, the 800mm Giant Contact Trail handlebar made me feel extremely secure. It not only supported my entire upper body on the handlebar but also allowed me to find a more comfortable position to control the bike when moving my arms.
Of course, the effect of the Giant Tactal Pro-E, single lock-on grips wrapped around the handlebar is also worth mentioning. In short, the feeling is very comfortable, even after long periods of gripping, my palms never felt sore.
Most importantly, it has a strong grip, even when my palms are sweaty, it ensures that my hands stay firmly on the handlebar. On the other hand, the Giant Romero Trail Saddle with a long nose is very suitable for off-road and endurance race riding, and it is very soft and comfortable.
With Side-Flex technology, it guarantees the comfort of my legs while allowing them to have maximum pedaling efficiency. Of course, when encountering tree roots and rocky terrain, I can feel that the built-in particle cushioning absorbs a lot of vibration, making me feel like my buttocks are getting a massage.
Climbing
I believe that the most important aspect of any mountain bike is its ability to climb and descend in the mountains. And the Giant Reign E+ 3 is exceptional and unforgettable.
Thanks to the brand new SyncDrive Pro motor, I can enjoy the electric assist with a maximum torque of 85Nm. Therefore, when the wheels encounter obstacles such as tree stumps and rocks, I just need to pedal steadily, and the bike can easily roll over them.
When the road surface begins to rise, I instinctively shift the Shimano Deore 12-speed shifter, accompanied by the crisp sound of the chain shifting, and the bike gradually climbs. Even though I don’t exert too much effort, the effect is obvious, and easily overcome obstacles and steep slopes gives me a sense of achievement.
Descending
The most enjoyable part is when the wheels descend. When the wheels enjoy the acceleration of gravity on these winding roads, occasionally encountering scattered tree roots or small slopes, the bike can soar into the air. I just need to firmly grip the handlebars and pedal a few times, and I can enjoy the fun of taking off, landing, and taking off again.
Of course, when encountering particularly complex terrain, I also apply a little brake. The performance of the Shimano Deore BR-M420, 4-piston, the hydraulic disc is impeccable, and its powerful bite can easily slow down the progress of the wheels, making me feel safe.
These enjoyable journeys are also thanks to the suspension system. The RockShox Domain R fork has a travel of 170mm, which can make any extreme terrain smooth. When the road becomes bumpy, my palms move up and down with the handlebars, but my hands never feel numb.
The Fox Float DPS Performance rear shock with a travel of 160mm also properly protects my buttocks and internal organs, making the bouncing more smooth and more fun.
Reliable Accessories
I have to say that the Giant Reign E+ 3 has done an impeccable job of making every riding experience more complete, even in terms of detailing.
I like its Giant Contact Switch dropper, which is very practical. It’s so important in fast and rugged hills. Every time I hit a downhill, with the contact button switch activated, my hips fire gently and my whole body can easily lean backward. It’s also very easy to get back into the saddle when you hit a flat surface.
Of course, the sturdy and reliable Maxxis Minion DHF tires are also noteworthy. The wide construction gives it great passability, whether it is tree roots and rocks or other obstacles, it can pass easily without accompanying vibrations. The strong grip ensures that the tires can keep the body stable on mossy, rocky roads, giving me great peace of mind.
What impressed me most was the 800Wh EnergyPak Smart battery. Not only does it provide a steady charge, ensuring that the size of the boost doesn’t change from time to time. And after each full charge, even without the extended-range battery, I can still be happy in the mountains all day long.
Specification
As Giant’s high-quality, full-suspension e-bike, the Reign E+ 3 is exceptional in all of its component specifications.
Following in the footsteps of Giant’s electric enduro bikes, the Reign E+ 3 features a durable ALUXX SL aluminum frame with a 170mm travel RockShox Domain fork and a 160mm Fox Float DPS Performance shock to ensure the user is comfortable while feeling the thrill of adventure. The ALUXX SL aluminum frame with 170mm travel RockShox Domain fork and 160mm Fox Float DPS Performance shock ensures that the user is comfortable while feeling the adventure.
With the powerful 85Nm Yamaha SyncDrive Pro motor, riders will be supported with 4x output. Reliable sensors sense changes in gradient and work with the Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain to create the most relaxed, comfortable, and natural climbing feel.
And the mega-energy EnergyPak Smart 800Wh is dedicated to saving on power. Even in the most extreme conditions, they can support riders for almost 70km of adventure.
In addition, details such as Maxxis Minion DHF vacuum tires, contact switch dropper seat post, and display screen make the bike look high-end and versatile.
Other versions of the Giant Reign E+
For riders expecting a higher level of riding, Giant has also prepared the more capable Giant Reign E+ 2 to meet the demand for comfort and handling performance.
If the Giant Reign E+ 3 is still delayed or negligent in eliminating vibrations, the Reign E+ 2 with RockShox ZEB Select with 170mm of travel and Fox Float X Performance with 160mm of travel eliminates ground vibrations, which can be captured by the user.
Of course, the Shimano Deore SLX, Praxis, which is more suitable for forest road riding, has also been greatly improved in terms of operating experience and silky smoothness. The speed of the rider’s gear changes has been improved, and the brakes have been positioned more quickly and precisely.
So if you want to experience the power of the Giant Reign E+ model and the SyncDrive Pro motor at a cheaper price, the Giant Reign E+ 3 will certainly suffice. But if you’re on a bigger budget, the Giant Reign E+ 2 will give you a more powerful handling performance.

- What is the range of the Giant Reign E+ 3 after a single full charge?

Giant Reign E+ 3 vs Trek Rail 5
If you’ve been keeping an eye on full-suspension electric bikes, you may have come across the Trek Rail 5. While it’s cheaper than the Giant Reign E+ 3, it’s also impressive in terms of its components. With a Bosch 250W 85Nm mid-drive motor, Shimano Deore, e*thirteen, 160mm front RockShox 35 Gold RL, and excellent RockShox Deluxe Select+ rear shock, this bike can handle fast rolls and jumps in the mountains and forests.
However, due to the Bosch 500Wh downtube battery, it cannot compare to the Giant Reign E+ 3’s 800Wh EnergyPak Smart battery in terms of energy storage capacity, which often leaves Trek Rail 5 riders feeling unsatisfied.
Keep in mind that when the battery runs out, riders have to carry the extra weight of a spare battery and motor, which can be very heavy for mountain biking.
If you’re looking for longer mountain biking trips, the Giant Reign E+ 3 with its long-range support is the way to go, but if you have a solid plan for what to do when the battery runs out, the Trek Rail 5 is still a good choice.

Giant Reign E+ 3 VS Yamaha YDX-Moro 05
For Yamaha loyalists, the Yamaha YDX-Moro 05, which places greater emphasis on comfort, may be more attractive.
Undeniably, having a stack/reach ratio of 1.43 for a full suspension e-bike results in a more comfortable riding position. However, this relaxed geometry also means that Yamaha YDX-Moro 05 riders cannot perform as many technical maneuvers during their rides.
Although the YAMAHA PW-X3 Class 1 motor and Yamaha 500Wh battery offers decent performance, Yamaha lacks the specialization of a manufacturer like Giant in the finer details of bike components. Therefore, the Yamaha YDX-Moro 05 lacks the refinement of the Giant Reign E+ 3 in details such as the saddle, handlebars, and wheel hubs. While these components may seem small, they can have a significant impact on a rider’s comfort and handling.
Of course, the Yamaha YDX-Moro 05, which uses more of its hardware, actually offers a higher price-performance ratio. It is more friendly for beginners who want to experience mountain biking. However, for experienced riders, its geometry lacks the challenge they may be seeking.
Giant Reign E+ 3 vs Bianchi e-Omnia FX Type – XT 1×12
The Bianchi e-Omnia FX Type – XT 1×12, with a more generous budget, has chosen to upgrade its suspension and drivetrain systems.
For mixed mountain terrain, the 160mm Fox Float 36 Rhythm 29″ is more professional. The technically upgraded Fox Float 36 improves small bump sensitivity and response, resulting in greater user comfort.
At the same time, Shimano XT, Deore has a faster-shifting response, ensuring riders can find the most suitable gear ratio as quickly as possible in the mountains.
However, the Bianchi e-Omnia FX Type – XT 1×12 lacks consideration for its own battery life. The BOSCH POWERTUBE 625WH capacity is only equivalent to the previous version of the Giant Reign E+ 3.
Therefore, in a sense, the Bianchi e-Omnia FX Type – XT 1×12 still has some distance from electric endurance bikes.
Giant Reign E+ 3 vs Cannondale Moterra Neo 4
Compared to Shimano components, Cannondale Moterra Neo 4 shows more love for SRAM SX Eagle and NX Eagle. Similar to SRAM’s rugged and durable style, the Cannondale Moterra Neo 4 has become more adventurous and bold from its previous cautious style. With the SRAM SX Eagle and NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain system, the bike can achieve faster gear changes in the mountains to cope with climbs and descents.
However, the geometry of the Cannondale Moterra Neo 4 still reveals that its desire for adventure is not “genuine.” But from another perspective, the more upright riding position ensures rider safety.
Overall, the Cannondale Moterra Neo 4 is more about allowing riders to experience the joy of trail jumping, rather than practicing technical jumps or rolls. The Giant Reign E+ 3 chooses to bring out the adventurous style of the Reign, making it more “aggressive.”

Whether it’s the durable and reliable aluminum frame, the sturdy and practical suspension system, the easy-to-operate and high-performance drivetrain and braking system, or the excellent motor and battery that can reduce the pressure on riders’ pedaling, they are all contributing to the Giant Reign E+ 3 users.
