What we love about it: Priced at just $699, it offers excellent value for money and is highly suitable for beginners.
What we don’t like about it: The external routing is not very tidy, it tends to get dirty easily, and it’s not convenient for maintenance.
I have a friend who commutes from one side of the city to the other every day. He wants me to recommend a bike that is suitable for long-distance urban riding.
Coincidentally, we are about to experience the Poseidon Triton. I am eager to see if it can make it onto my recommendation list.
In the following, we will analyze the riding experience, main features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Poseidon Triton. I set off from the starting point, skillfully maneuvering this bike. I didn’t ride fast on the flat roads at first. This was to better familiarize me with the bike. Gradually, I increased my speed. With ample experience, I could feel that I had mastered this bike.
Ahead was an uphill section, and the MicroShift R9 gears equipped on the Poseidon Triton played a huge role. I could adjust the gears according to the slope and my physical condition to find the right power and speed. This allowed me to maintain a rhythm and easily climb the steep uphill. I have to admit that the smooth shifting of the 2×10 gears allowed me to smoothly adjust the gear ratio to adapt to the varying slopes of different uphill sections.
After the uphill was a gentle downhill, and I felt the stability and maneuverability of the Poseidon Triton. Its Kenda Kontender tires provided good traction, allowing me to stay stable during high-speed descents. The reliability of the AS2 Dual Pivot Rim Brake system on gentle roads also gave me confidence that I could control the speed and ensure safety.
In continuous bends, the maneuverability of the Poseidon Triton allowed me to handle each turn with ease. The 25c tires were very responsive, and I shifted my weight and tilted the bike while sitting on the saddle. I have to admit that the Poseidon Triton has excellent cornering ability.
Is that all?
The saddle of the Poseidon Triton was very soft, providing comfortable support and reducing pressure on my hips and pelvis. I felt more comfortable during long rides. I believe the shape and contours of the saddle were carefully designed. It adapted well to the curves of my body. Moreover, on uneven roads, it provided sufficient cushioning and support.
Furthermore, the Kenda Kontender tires are a crucial component of the Poseidon Triton. They have a smooth center tread with low rolling resistance and excellent acceleration. Riding on city roads, I could constantly accelerate and feel a strong sense of speed. I have to admit that these tires are truly suitable for high-speed riding. Despite being only 25c in width, they have Iron Cap puncture protection and are highly responsive in corners.
Additionally, the handlebars of the Poseidon Triton are excellently designed, providing a relaxed grip. I could feel that they were ergonomically shaped. They offered multiple hand positions, allowing me to change positions according to the situation. But regardless of the position, I could maintain a good grip and comfort. I didn’t feel tired during long rides. They also relieved fatigue in my wrists and arms.
The Poseidon Triton is an excellent endurance bike. It features an aluminum frame and offers two different fork options: carbon and aluminum. The rear derailleur is the MicroShift R9, providing outstanding shifting performance. It’s worth mentioning that it comes equipped with 700 x 25 Kenda Kontender tires, which are ideal for city road riding and offer excellent maneuverability.
Furthermore, the braking system of the Poseidon Triton is not particularly impressive. The AS2 Dual Pivot Rim Brake performs well in short braking periods and is lightweight. However, it tends to overheat during prolonged downhill braking, which can cause damage.

Poseidon Triton vs Fuji Sportif 2.3

The Canyon Endurance 8 Disc is $1300 more expensive than the Poseidon Triton. This is because the Canyon Endurance 8 Disc is lighter in weight compared to the Poseidon Triton. Additionally, the Canyon Endurance 8 Disc offers two wheel size options, 650c and 700c. The larger wheel size provides excellent rolling capabilities, while the smaller wheel size offers great agility.
Furthermore, the Canyon Endurance 8 Disc features hydraulic disc brakes, which provide superior braking performance compared to the rim brakes of the Poseidon Triton. It is also equipped with a 2×11 drivetrain, offering smoother shifting and a wider gear range than the 2×10 drivetrain of the Poseidon Triton.
In conclusion, if your budget is limited, the Poseidon Triton can meet your needs. If you’re looking for an excellent bike, the Canyon Endurance 8 Disc is a great choice for you.
Poseidon Triton vs Cannondale Synapse 105
The Cannondale Synapse 105 features stronger braking capability with its Mechanical Disc brakes. Additionally, it offers better durability, maintainability, and repairability compared to the rim brakes of the Poseidon Triton. Moreover, the Cannondale Synapse 105 is equipped with a 2×11 drivetrain, which is superior to the 2×10 drivetrain of the Poseidon Triton.
Furthermore, the Cannondale Synapse 105 provides Wellgo w/ Clip and Strap pedals. While the Poseidon Triton also provides pedals, the Cannondale Synapse 105 includes additional Cannondale Bar Tape grips, making it convenient for riders to have all the necessary components in one go.
Moreover, the Cannondale Synapse 105 offers 30c width tires, while the Poseidon Triton only has 25c tires. The wider tires provide better support, while narrower tires offer more agility.
Therefore, if you prefer wider tires, the Cannondale Synapse 105 would be your top choice. If you are a beginner, the Poseidon Triton can fulfill your needs effectively.
Poseidon Triton vs Schwinn Volare 1500
The Schwinn Volare 1500 is equipped with a 3×8 drivetrain. Compared to the 2×10 drivetrain used in the Poseidon Triton, the 3×8 drivetrain is considered outdated. It has a limited gear range and less smooth shifting. Additionally, the Schwinn Volare 1500 is equipped with 32c width tires, which can adapt to a greater variety of road surfaces. In contrast, the Poseidon Triton’s 25c tires offer more agility.
The Schwinn Volare 1500 features Mechanical Disc brakes. Compared to the rim brakes on the Poseidon Triton, Mechanical Disc brakes offer superior braking performance and greater durability. Rim brakes tend to accumulate excessive heat during continuous braking and may not dissipate it effectively.
