Staying fit and healthy has become a necessity in people’s lives. Exercising while commuting allows for efficient use of time, and choosing a bicycle as a fitness tool can effectively engage muscles throughout the body.
How can one find a bike that can help with exercise and provide a comfortable commuting experience? For this, I have found the Orbea AVANT H60, an outstanding endurance bike that I am very excited to test.
In the following sections, we will analyze the riding experience, main features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Orbea AVANT H60.
Additionally, in the latter part of this article, we will compare several top bike models. If you want to learn more about bike reviews, feel free to follow us.
Riding Experience
Commuter Riding
Normally, I commute by bus, but after switching to the Orbea AVANT H60, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
Pedaling rapidly, I adjusted the Shimano Claris RD-R2000-GS rear derailleur and Shimano Claris FD-R2000-F front derailleur to find the appropriate gear ratios for different road conditions.
When facing uphill sections, I shifted to the lowest gear ratio to maximize power output with minimal effort. Smoothly conquering the uphill, I then descended and firmly held the OC Road Performance RP31-R Handlebar.
It offers a perfect combination of weight, durability, and stiffness, with an ergonomic drop design. My hands grip it securely without feeling overly rigid.
Moreover, whether on downhill sections or busy roads, I was always prepared to use the Jagwire RideRever Mechanical Disc brakes to control speed and avoid excessive acceleration.
In situations where sudden deceleration was required, I confidently maneuvered with the OC Road Performance RP31-R Handlebar, thanks to the 72.4° head tube angle of the 53cm Orbea AVANT H60.
This made the bike more agile, allowing me to navigate through crowded areas with confidence.
Fitness
Based on my body size, I chose the 53cm Orbea AVANT H60. Its stack/reach ratio is 1.54, providing a comfortable and stretchable riding experience without straining my muscles during long rides.
I didn’t feel fatigued during extended rides, and a key factor was the Fizik Aliante R5 saddle.
This saddle is comfortable and flexible, featuring a waved contour design that provides enduring comfort even on the longest bike journeys.
Additionally, it incorporates an ergonomic cutout that effectively relieves pressure on sensitive areas and promotes blood flow, enhancing the effectiveness of my workout.
Furthermore, tires are an essential consideration for me. The Vittoria Zafiro V Rigid bead 700x28c tires offer exceptional grip.
With a rigid bead casing and an affordable price, these tires provide professional endurance training with a modern tread design and long lifespan. I don’t have to worry about significant wear and tear from long-distance rides.
Specification

The rigid bead casing is highly durable, with a modern tread design and a long lifespan. It is also equipped with Jagwire RideRever Mechanical Disc brakes, providing excellent braking performance and easy maintenance.
Other Versions
After undergoing multiple tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It is an exceptional endurance bike.
However, many riders have specific requirements for performance or components, so we have investigated similar bikes for further comparison.
Orbea AVANT H40
Both bikes have identical geometry, but they differ in components. The Orbea AVANT H40 features the Shimano Tiagra 4700 GS Rear Derailleur and Shimano Tiagra 4700 Front Derailleur, while the Orbea AVANT H60 is equipped with the Shimano Claris RD-R2000-GS Rear Derailleur and Shimano Claris FD-R2000-F Front Derailleur. The H60 has a 2×8 gearing, which is not as smooth as the H40’s 2×10 gearing.
Furthermore, the Orbea AVANT H40 is $200 more expensive than the Orbea AVANT H60. If budget is a concern, I would recommend the Orbea AVANT H60. If you desire smoother shifting, the Orbea AVANT H40 would be the preferred choice.

Orbea AVANT H60 vs Canyon Endurace 8 Disc
The Canyon Endurace 8 Disc offers two wheel size options: 700c and 650c. The 700c wheels provide strong performance and versatility, while the 650c wheels offer more agility. Having two options for wheel size gives riders more choices.
Compared to the mechanical disc brakes of the Orbea AVANT H60, the hydraulic disc brakes of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc offer more responsiveness and excellent braking performance. However, they are less convenient for maintenance and are relatively heavier.
Therefore, if you desire more options in terms of wheel size, I would recommend the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. If you prioritize easy maintenance for the brakes, the Orbea AVANT H60 would be your preferred choice.
