Canyon Endurace 8 Disc Road Uphill Review
Overall, in terms of crowd, I think it is more suitable for some novice endurance riders or riders with daily hobbies. In terms of terrain, it fits all the terrain that road bikes are adapted to.
So far, we’ve been riding the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc on many mountain loops and gravel roads to test its uphill performance.
We chose The Grouse Mountain Highway, a 15.4-mile round trip trail near the north of Vancouver. The scenery is stunning and the fresh air is laced with the natural scent of earth and foliage. Surrounding the road are low shrubs and small gravel pavement. It seems to be ready for the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc.
At first, we had a relatively easy ride on the flat trails. I also spent this time getting used to handling the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc.
As I gained altitude, I started to have to pedal harder. However, the R7020 joystick was comfortable and responsive to operate.
To achieve more efficient climbing, I needed to shift to a larger gear. However, I was delighted with the easy speed adjustment of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc, and it shifted to my ideal speed very smoothly. Also, its lighter carbon fork provided better traction for my climbs.
Not only that, the excellent drivetrain of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc made me consume less power, and I could save more energy to cope with the climbs behind.
However, because this latter part of the journey was so steep and because my previous physical training stopped for a while, I was not able to ride it to the top of the hill.
Still, I was pleased with the performance of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. This is because its home turf is longer miles of flat roads rather than big hilly mountain loops.
Canyon Endurace 8 Disc Road Downhill Review
On the downhill, it made me cheer at the balance of speed and steering, it was great. The Schwalbe One tires on the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc gave me a lot of confidence when facing some sharp corners.
They were strong on the ground and worked perfectly with the brakes. I held the brake lever with moderate strength and aimed for the exit of the turn and came to the next section with ease, with no skidding, and no flat tires.
In addition, its 2×11 speed range of regulation is powerful enough. After I finished the turn, I naturally returned to my original speed, and the oncoming wind blew past me in cool comfort.
Also, the saddle on the Selle Italia Model X was one of the factors that gave me a perfect downhill, soft and supportive ride.
On top of that, here the bike has a 378mm reach with a 73mm BB Drop, 73.5° seat tube angle, and 73.0° head tube angle. This relatively not-too-tight geometry design allows me to maintain a comfortable riding position throughout the downhill.
Overall, it will have a bit more of an advantage on less undulating roads. However, the downhill performance is by no means backward either.
Main Features
Frame Group
The Canyon Endurace 8 Disc frame feels solid to me, and it uses the Canyon Endurace AL Disc’s aluminum frame, which is fun to ride. And if you’re familiar with it, you’ll know it doesn’t have the buzz of a traditional alloy frame, so you can enjoy the beauty of the ride. Also, the Canyon FK0089 CF Disc carbon fork improves rigidity and makes the frame stronger overall.
Not only that, but the full internal cable routing setup does a great job of bringing out the beautiful look of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc and, in addition, protecting the important cable routing.
In addition, there are three bracket mounting holes in the frame, so you can prepare sufficient supplies for your ride as needed.
It can be said that the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc’s frame is both aesthetically pleasing and functional, and is very well designed.
Geometry
With an enduro bike, we want it to give us more comfort while still being fast and maneuverable. So, having proper geometry is something very important.
First, the 590mm Stack (size: MD) is relatively high. Compared to an aggressive race bike, our riding position can be more upright, which can make us more comfortable.
At the same time, the 73.5° seat tube angle of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is one of the reasons for enhancing our comfort level.
Secondly, the rear fork length is 415mm, which is a moderate length for a road bike. I’m not saying this is mediocre, rather it gives us a good balance of center of gravity. Combined with the 990mm Wheelbase (size: MD), the center of gravity is slightly further back. This means we can be more stable on rough terrain and steering agility is not greatly compromised.
Also, the 263mm BB Height allows us to have stability in agile turns.
Components and Specifications
Shimano 105 R7000 GS Drivetrain
The Shimano 105 R7000 GS has a low-profile rear chainstay design that offers us a lot of benefits. It is thinner than traditional chainstays, giving us smoother shifts. Especially in rough terrain, the Shimano 105 R7000 GS is quieter as it doesn’t touch the chain.
In addition, it has a gear range of 11-34T with an HG-X11 directional chain. This means smoother and more precise shifting in our riding.
Moreover, the crankset has been redesigned to balance weight and efficiency without sacrificing stiffness. Coupled with the 2×11 speed regulation range, we can also have the right speed selection on compound terrain so that we don’t have to exert too much physical effort.
Shimano RT70 Braking System
This bike uses the hydraulic disc brakes of the Shimano RT70. It utilizes less leverage force compared to mechanical discs.
Furthermore, the SLX discs utilize ICE TECHNOLOGIES, which reduces heat buildup in the braking system and provides precise, consistent braking whenever we slow down. In addition, its CENTER LOCK mounting system features a spine mount and locking ring design, making it easier for us to remove.
Not only that, but the overall shape of the new R7020 joystick is smooth and it has an ergonomic design. And the braking force is strong and the flush-mounted design is easy to set up.
Undoubtedly, once you know the bite point and the amount of squeeze required, it won’t disappoint you on either steep descents or sharp turns. That’s because the R7020 joystick is easy to control.
I need to say that in bad weather or wet ground, the hydraulic disc has an irreplaceable advantage in the actual control of speed.
Schwalbe One Tire
The Canyon Endurace 8 Disc uses DT Swiss Endurance rims and Schwalbe One tires.
For starters, the DT Swiss Endurance rims are built for endurance. Then there are the sturdy spokes and reliable hubs that bring out the best of their potential to provide forward traction at all times.
In addition, Schwalbe One’s tires feature a high-performance ADDIX compound and RaceGuard puncture protection, making it a reliable balance of speed, durability, and agility. At the same time, Schwalbe One’s tires travel anywhere with DT Swiss Endurance rims.
It is worth mentioning that this bike utilizes a 30mm front tire with a 32mm rear tire. This provides us with a more strategic wheelset to have a more comfortable ride.
Other versions of Canyon Endurace 8 Disc
If you think that a bike review doesn’t help you make a choice and you want to learn more, you can continue reading on. We also found other versions of it for comparison, such as the Canyon Endurace CF SL 7 eTAP.
Canyon Endurace CF SL 7 eTAP
This bike is very different from the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc.
First of all, the frame part, which is made of a carbon frame, is lighter in weight. And it also has an aerodynamically optimized tube shape.
Secondly, for the saddle section, the Canyon Endurace CF SL 7 eTAP uses the Endurance saddle. This saddle uses a decompression short nose design and Kium hollow rails, thus providing a more comfortable ride.
Finally, for the drivetrain, the bike is set up with the SRAM Rival eTap AXS electronic drivetrain, and the SRAM Rival eTap AXS 2s control lever. It has wireless shifting, contact point adjustment, and reach adjustment, which means it’s incredibly smooth when we’re on it.
All in all, this bike is true quite a bit higher in spec than the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. However, in my opinion, a higher-spec bike is more suitable for riders with a lot of experience. Because it requires better handling skills.
If you are new or an enthusiast, I would recommend the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc for its performance for you guys.

Canyon Endurace 8 Disc VS Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4
The Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4, Trek’s newly released carbon frame enduro bike, is the same mid to high-end component bike as the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. However, they are very different in terms of components and materials.
First of all, the frame of the Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4 is made of oclv carbon and uses IsoSpeed to improve the damping performance of the frame.
Secondly, it has a Shimano 105 R7000 rear derailleur, while the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc has a Shimano 105 R7000 GS rear derailleur. the former is a Short Cage rear derailleur, while the latter is a Medium Cage rear derailleur. The former is a Short Cage rear derailleur and the latter is a Medium Cage rear derailleur.
In terms of tires, the Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4 uses Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite tires, which are very strong in grip and puncture prevention.
I think the Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4 has the lead on the frame and the tires. But its $3499 price tag doesn’t appeal to me. I’d rather go for the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc for similar performance.

Canyon Endurace 8 Disc VS Giant Contend AR 1
The Giant Contend AR 1 is about the same price compared to the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc, with the Giant Contend AR 1 being slightly cheaper at $49.
Although both are aluminum frames, the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is a bit lighter.
In addition, the geometry of the Giant Contend AR 1 is a bit more gentle and stable than the geometry of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. However, this also means that it is a little less flexible.
At about the same price with the same drivetrain and braking configuration, the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc does a better job of balancing speed and comfort.
But it varies from person to person, and if you feel more in need of superb stability, then the Giant Contend AR 1 could be a good choice.
Canyon Endurace 8 Disc VS Specialized Roubaix
We found through comparison that the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is a bit more cost-effective for both bikes in their respective price ranges.
First of all, the Specialized Roubaix uses carbon in its frame. The FreeFoil’s vaulted tube shape is said to make the bike more aerodynamic, which includes its seat post.
In addition, its components are not too significantly different from the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. Specialized Roubaix uses a Shimano Tiagra series set, which is a bit higher spec than the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. But the price of the Specialized Roubaix is $2700.
Therefore, I think the cost-effective Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is a more worthy choice.
Canyon Endurace 8 Disc VS Liv Avail Advanced 2
The advantage of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is that it offers us a higher configuration of components at a relatively low price. And this can enable us to have a good riding experience at a much lower cost.
The Liv Avail, Advanced 2 doesn’t have the components to shine in its $2800 price tag, although it is a carbon frame by comparison.
It uses Shimano 105 hydraulic for the braking system and Shimano 105 for the drivetrain, which is better than the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc, but at the same price, it’s not surprising.
However, it is worth mentioning that its geometry is designed to be more suitable for riders who lean toward speed.
