I have always enjoyed using bicycles as a means of transportation. Even back in high school, I would ride my bike daily between home and school. This habit continued into my work life.
However, due to multiple relocations, the distance between my residence and the office became quite far. That’s when I decided to purchase a Momentum Voya E+ 3. I was curious to see if it could provide me with the same riding enjoyment.
In the following sections, we will analyze the riding experience, key features, components, and specifications of the Momentum Voya E+ 3, as well as compare it to other versions.
Towards the latter half of this article, we will also compare several top bicycle models. If you’re interested in more bike reviews, feel free to follow us.
Riding Experience
Commuting
Initially, I had concerns about whether the Momentum Voya E+ 3 could meet my commuting needs, considering its battery capacity isn’t the largest among similar products.
However, it turned out that the Panasonic 250Wh battery was sufficient for my daily usage. Since I usually use a lower level of pedal assist, I don’t need to charge it frequently.
Additionally, even when I purchase a lot of items during my commute, removing the 2.26kg battery and taking it home for charging doesn’t pose much of a burden.
Although the Momentum Voya E+ 3 is not primarily marketed as a comfort-oriented e-bike, its geometry is not too aggressive.
I can fully extend my legs, and the comfortable Selle Royal Vivo Ergo Moderate saddle helps alleviate fatigue after a long day.
Even when encountering bumpy road surfaces, I don’t feel discomfort in my buttocks.
Furthermore, the Aluminum Riser 31.8x680mm handlebar provides good support. Although the flat handlebar design doesn’t offer a variety of grip positions to choose from, the Momentum dual compound grips effectively reduce hand fatigue.
Even when maintaining the same riding position throughout the journey, I never experience any lower back pain.
Climbing
After experiencing the climbing performance of the Momentum Voya E+ 3 for the first time, I couldn’t help but marvel at the greatness of electric bicycles.
The 250W 30Nm torque motor paired with the microSHIFT ADVENT 9-speed drivetrain effortlessly carries me up those slopes that used to give me headaches. Despite using a Rear Hub motor, I don’t perceive any noise, and pedaling feels smooth.
As I mentioned earlier, I typically use the lower pedal assist mode, but even on steep inclines, I don’t need to stop. The one-button RideControl Go controller on the top tube allows easy switching among the four riding modes.
However, I believe placing the display on the handlebar would be a better choice. This way, I only need to glance down slightly to see the battery level and other information, ensuring safer riding.
Descending
I remember a recent incident when I spontaneously booked a business trip flight on Skyscanner and set off for the airport with my backpack and the Momentum Voya E+ 3.
During the journey, I encountered a long downhill slope that left a deep impression on me. Even when I stopped pedaling, the wheels continued to spin rapidly.
Fortunately, the Shimano BR-M201/BR-MT200 Hydraulic Disc brake system performed well, allowing me to reduce speed and avoid vehicles and pedestrians.
Moreover, the 100mm travel SR Suntour XCM greatly alleviated the fatigue in my arms caused by rough road surfaces.
Specification
The Momentum Voya E+ 3 is one of the best-looking electric bicycles I have seen. It doesn’t resemble the typical bulky impression of electric bikes.
The asphalt-colored ALUXX aluminum frame is clean, sleek, and durable. The 700x38C Kenda Kwick Journey large tires provide excellent speed performance.
As an electric bike, the 250W Rear Hub motor with 30Nm torque allows you to tackle various urban terrains.
The intelligent assist system utilizes four sensors to measure travel speed and pedal power, seamlessly providing motor support to the rider while pedaling.
Moreover, the Voya E+ 3 weighs only 18kg, making it easy to ride even without pedal assistance.
The EnergyPark 250Wh lithium battery, developed in collaboration with Panasonic, offers a range of up to 45 miles. It is equipped with a 4A charger, ensuring a full charge within four hours.

Other Versions
The Momentum Voya E+ 3 is a powerful electric bike, but if you frequently engage in long-distance rides and have high-performance requirements for the bike’s components, we have recommendations for other models as well.
Momentum Voya E+ 1
The Momentum Voya E+ 1 features a drop handlebar design, making it more suitable for road cycling. Especially during long rides, adjusting your posture by gripping different positions can alleviate fatigue.
Another noteworthy point is that the Shimano GRX groupset equipped on the Momentum Voya E+ 1 is notably superior to the microSHIFT ADVENT groupset on the Momentum Voya E+ 3.
The former is equipped with Shimano 11-36T 10-speed drivetrain is more responsive and accurate, providing better performance in handling complex road conditions.
However, it is important to consider that the Momentum Voya E+ 1 is $600 more expensive than the Momentum Voya E+ 3. If you have a limited budget, the Momentum Voya E+ 3 is still a good choice.

Momentum Voya E+ 3 vs Ride1 UP Prodigy XR
Ride1 UP Prodigy XR pleasantly surprised me with its use of the Brose TF Sprinter German-made mid-drive motor. This more sophisticated drive system is compact, quiet, efficient, and provides a better riding experience compared to traditional hub motors.
Additionally, it utilizes physical sensors to cut off motor power during gear shifts, preventing excessive pressure on the chain.
Moreover, despite both bikes having hydraulic disc brakes, the Ride1 UP Prodigy XR features larger 180mm rotors, offering slightly better braking performance than the Momentum Voya E+.
Furthermore, if you plan to ride on more challenging terrains, the Ride1 UP Prodigy XR’s 90Nm torque allows you to conquer steeper slopes. However, it’s worth noting that the 2-inch-wide Maxxis Refuse tires may not provide sufficient stability.
If you have a limited budget, the Momentum Voya E+ remains a better choice. Its wider gear range of 11-42T is also more suitable for riders seeking speed.
Momentum Voya E+ 3 vs Aventon Level Step-Through Commuter
The first time I laid eyes on the Aventon Level Step-Through Commuter, its metallic texture immediately caught my attention. Another pleasant surprise was its 672Wh LG battery.
Compared to the Momentum Voya E+ 3, the Aventon Level Step-Through Commuter can travel longer distances.
However, it’s unfortunate that the frame lacks mounting points for essential items like water bottles during long rides.
Furthermore, the Aventon Level Step-Through Commuter’s 650b wheels, as opposed to the Momentum Voya E+ 3’s 700C wheels, can accommodate wider tires.
This provides better traction on loose surfaces and offers improved shock absorption. However, if speed is your priority, the latter is more suitable.
Another noteworthy feature is the Aventon Level Step-Through Commuter’s Coil spring suspension fork with 75mm of travel. It excels in terms of suspension performance compared to the Momentum Voya E+.
However, the weight of 28.1kg may give some people pause. If you’re looking for a lighter electric bike, the Momentum Voya E+ 3, weighing only 18kg, would be a better choice.
Momentum Voya E+ 3 vs Ride1UP 700 Series ST
First and foremost, I like the display design of the Ride1UP 700 Series ST. The 2.2-inch color LCD display mounted on the handlebars allows you to glance down and see information such as battery level and speed.
Honestly, it appears to be more convenient than the handlebar-mounted display of the Momentum Voya E+ 3.
Additionally, the Ride1UP 700 Series ST eliminates the top tube. This is very friendly for riders with a smaller stature, as it poses no obstacles even when navigating crowded road conditions that require frequent mounting and dismounting.
Moreover, the 48V15ah Samsung battery assurance long-distance rides. The Ride1UP 700 Series ST’s 750W 60Nm motor also performs admirably.
However, the Ride1UP 700 Series ST falls short in terms of components compared to the Momentum Voya E+ 3.
Although the SHIMANO Acera performs decently during rides, it’s evident that the microSHIFT Advent equipped on the Momentum Voya E+ 3 is the superior option.
The latter is equipped with a 9-speed drivetrain, offering one more gear than the Momentum Voya E+ 3. This provides a wider range of options when tackling complex road surfaces.
Momentum Voya E+ 3 vs Aventon Level.2 Step-Through Commuter
For most riders who prioritize fast charging, the Aventon Level.2 Step-Through Commuter has likely caught their attention. The 48V 3 Amp Fast Charger can fully charge the battery in 4 to 5 hours.
Furthermore, the Aventon Level.2 Step-Through Commuter is equipped with the LG 672Wh Removable Internal Lithium-ion battery, offering better range compared to the Momentum Voya E+ 3.
However, for commuters who primarily use an electric bike for daily transportation, the 250Wh capacity Integrated Panasonic battery of the Momentum Voya E+ 3 is already sufficient.
Moreover, reducing the battery capacity to achieve a lighter bike within a reasonable range of use is a good design choice in my opinion.
Therefore, the choice ultimately depends on your needs and budget.
Summary
Above is our review of the Momentum Voya E+ 3. It has a lightweight frame and provides a satisfying riding experience. In our view, the Momentum Voya E+ 3 is a bike worth purchasing.
Taking all of this into consideration, we have given it a high rating of 4.7. If you’re interested in exploring higher-end electric bikes, feel free to check out our other reviews.
