Off-Road Riding
I have to say, looking back on the nearly 450km mountain journey that the Decathlon Rockrider E-ST 100 has accompanied me on, I am very happy and satisfied. Another thing that needs to be prepared in advance is booking accommodation. This time, I still booked accommodation on IHG Hotels & Resorts, hoping for a good rest.
My off-road trips were mostly completed on the hills near the town or the nearby bike park. The roads in the mountains were mostly unpaved and steep, occasionally with rocks, but they had a unique charm. The dirt roads in the bike park were mostly flat and smooth.
Comfortable Riding Position
Although it may not prioritize comfort as much as those bikes that are designed for comfort, such as the Rockrider E-ST 100, which focuses on handling performance and adventure, it doesn’t mean that its riding position is radical or uncomfortable.
When I first sat on the Rockrider E-ST 100, I felt that my back was upright and my legs were fully relaxed. When I pedaled, my legs felt powerful. After all, the M-sized bike’s 1.47 Stack/Reach Ratio combined with a 73° Seat Tube Angle and a 68° Head Tube Angle is a geometric design that balances comfort and maximum output efficiency.
Of course, the soft and comfortable Rockrider Ergofit Evo saddle and the 31.6 mm alloy seat post are also suitable for off-road cycling. Although it is occasionally bumpy, my butt often feels like it’s getting a massage and doesn’t make my organs uncomfortable.
In addition, the Rockrider sport “oversize” 720 mm wide ALU handlebar makes this riding position more comfortable and durable. The adjustable Rockrider stem, coupled with soft-grip grips, allows my hands to find the most comfortable position during the ride, and I don’t feel tired. Even if I maintain one position and challenge the bumpy off-road terrain, I won’t feel any tingling or other discomfort.
Climbing and Descending
After experiencing the performance of the Decathlon Rockrider E-ST 100 mountain bike for the first time, I had to admire that it was probably designed for riders who need to climb and descend a lot.
With a motor with 42Nm of torque, it works well with the MICROSHIFT 8-speed transmission system to make hills flat. Unlike the typical ride where you have to pedal hard with your legs to climb small hills, the Rockrider E-ST 100 with a cadence sensor hub motor has a very natural and smooth-pedaling feel.
I didn’t stand up, nor did I sweat a lot, I just continued to pedal after switching to Boost assist mode and adjusting the gears, and the bike easily bounced up and down in the mountains.
Occasionally encountering narrow downhill trails, even in eco mode, slowing down the pedaling frequency, the wheels still spin quickly under the help of gravity acceleration.
At this time, I enjoyed the feeling of going downhill, feeling the breeze, and relaxing. But I didn’t let my guard down, and I still observed the surrounding environment and terrain. When I encountered potholes, I lightly gripped the brake lever, and the Tektro TKD68 mechanical disc brake quickly slowed me down to ensure that I passed those obstacles safely and at low speed.
Reliable Accessories
The excellent accessories of the Decathlon Rockrider E-ST 100 are also essential for its flexibility and agility in the mountains.
Perhaps the 100mm travel of the Suntour XCT is not dazzling, but it often makes me feel very reassured. Except for occasional bottoming out on too-fast and too-steep slopes, it performs well most of the time. Because when I use the U-Fit technology to adjust the stiffness based on my weight, it can cleverly counteract the vibrations from the ground.
I like the Rockrider All Terrain Light (30 TPI) tires of the Rockrider E-ST 100, which are very reassuring. The 27.5″ x 2.2″ size is fearless on any terrain, with excellent passability, easy passage over rocks, and vibration damping. The reliable rubber material allows it to provide traction without sacrificing grip.

As long as I occasionally check its LCD control screen, I don’t have to worry about running out of battery and carrying more pedaling weight.
When I occasionally need to get off to buy something or enjoy food, I am also very comfortable parking it on the side of the road. Because the battery is light and supports removal, I can put it in my backpack, lock the bike, and enjoy the fun of shopping.
