The Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT is latest full-power electric mountain bike of Pivot. It features a full carbon fiber frame, 160mm of DW-Link suspension travel, and a Shimano EP8 motor. Undoubtedly, it has impressive riding capabilities.
In this article, we will analyze the riding experience, main features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT.

Riding Experience
The Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT takes inspiration from Pivot’s Firebird Enduro bike. With its flip-chip, it has a sturdy and adjustable geometry. Combined with 29-inch wheels, it offers greater versatility for mountain riding.
To test it out, I took the Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT to Hatfield-McCoy Trails (West Virginia) and booked a hotel in advance using IHG. This trail, also known as “Trails Heaven,” offers scenic mountain views, rugged and undulating paths through forests, sections with loose rocks and tree roots, and some significant descents.
Climbing
The climbing experience with the Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT is fantastic. The Shimano Steps DU-EP800 motor provides powerful assistance, making uphill riding easy.
Furthermore, the higher seated geometry gives the bike tall and long, providing a stable riding position. It evenly distributes my weight between the axles, giving a balanced sensation even on steep sections. The steep seat tube angle keeps my center of gravity in the right position, improving pedaling efficiency and traction.
Lastly, the bike is equipped with a front Maxxis Assegai DHF 29″ x 2.5″ TR tire and a rear Maxxis Minion DHRII 29″ x 2.4″ TR tire. They offer excellent grip, keeping the bike planted on the ground and preventing rear-wheel slipping, resulting in more efficient riding.
Overall, the climbing performance of the Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT is undeniably excellent. It’s a bike that made me fall in love with climbing.
Descending
The descending performance of Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT is equally impressive, rivaling any full-suspension bike. The well-tuned suspension remains active during small bumps, filtering out all the minor vibrations.
The ample rear travel, combined with the Fox Performance E-MTB 36 front fork and Fox Performance Float X rear shock, provides excellent support. It handles impacts well, ensuring smooth and safe landings from drops.
On flatter descending sections, the longer wheelbase, along with the front and rear 29-inch wheels, enhances stability during my descents. It boosts my confidence and control while increasing the descent speed.
However, when riding on narrow trails, the weight of the E-MTB compromises its agility. Nevertheless, the shorter chainstay compensates for some of the drawbacks, allowing for more nimble handling.
I’m also pleased with the Shimano SLX M7120 four-piston brakes paired with a front Galfer Rotor(203mm) and a rear Galfer Rotor(180mm). This combination provides powerful braking performance, reliably bringing this big rig to a halt.

The Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT is available in four sizes (S-XL) with a carbon fiber frame and internal cable routing. It caters to riders with heights ranging from 5’3″ to 6’7″, providing wide applicability.
With its progressive geometry, highly developed dw-link suspension, and robust Fox fork, it delivers unparalleled suspension performance and handling.
The precise carbon fiber chassis houses the equally precise Shimano EP8 drive unit and a massive 726Wh battery. It offers long battery life and smooth power delivery.
The 29-inch wheels, combined with the slack geometry, provide a stable riding experience during descents. Its excellent clearance ensures rapid descending capabilities.

Regarding the suspension systems, both bikes offer comparable suspension travel. However, the latter’s Fox fork has a thicker stanchion diameter, providing better support and an advantage when tackling challenging terrain.
In terms of drivetrains, the former is equipped with a mix of Shimano XT M8100 and Shimano SLX M7100 components, offering smooth and precise operation. The latter utilizes SRAM GX Eagle AXS components, providing a more crisp shifting feel. Additionally, the electronic version of the drivetrain makes for easier adjustments.

In terms of suspension, the latter bike is equipped with the Fox Factory Float 38 fork, which has a thicker stanchion diameter compared to the Fox Performance E-MTB 36 fork used in the former bike. This results in better support and the ability to handle larger drops more effectively.
Regarding the drivetrain components, the former bike utilizes a mix of Shimano SLX and XT components, which may have slightly lower capabilities compared to the Shimano XT M8100 components found on the latter bike. However, the overall performance difference is not significant.

They have similar suspension travel. In terms of motor selection, both bikes use excellent and reliable Shimano motors, providing smooth and efficient power output.
In terms of component choices, the latter bike does indeed feature more advanced components for the drivetrain, braking system, and suspension components. Consequently, it offers stronger performance.
However, in terms of geometry, the former bike has a more slack design, so it will be more stable and faster in a descending ride. The excellent geometry also indicates that its frame has greater potential.
Both bikes are excellent choices, and the decision can be based on whether you have plans for upgrades or not.

Above is my ride review of the Pivot Shuttle Ride SLX/XT. In our opinion, it is a full-suspension endurance e-bike with excellent frame geometry and tremendous potential. That’s why we gave it a rating of 4.8.
