Rating: (4.9/5)
Pivot’s commitment to building a chassis that is ideally suited to maintaining stability makes the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 a truly superb off-road mountain bike, capable of tackling all kinds of rough terrain and shining on the trails.
Below, we will analyze the riding experience, key features, components, and specifications as well as other versions of this bike.
Additionally, at the end of the review, we will also compare several best bike models. If you want to know more about bike reviews, don’t hesitate to follow us.
Riding Experience
The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 features a Fox Factory 38 Grip 2 damping fork and Fox Factory Float X2 rear shock, combined with an aggressive geometry that makes it a full-suspension enduro bike that can shine on complex surfaces and in mountain bike parks.
For this I packed my Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 and booked a trip to Deer Valley Resort mountain bike park via Skyscanner.
Deer Valley has all the trails for DH, AM, Trail and XC. The routes here are mainly interconnected trails, all of which are two-way and undulating.
Climbing
Since I was riding at a higher altitude, I locked the front fork and rear shocks on the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01. This resulted in a more energy-efficient ride.
In addition, the carbon fiber frame with top of the line components kept the weight of this enduro bike in a manageable range, reducing my physical exertion during the upward climb.
Next, I climbed a longer uphill section that was a bit steeper. The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 has a SRAM X01 Eagle DUB 32t crankset with a SRAM XG-1275 10-52t flywheel, and I was able to cross these uphill sections easily by hooking the rear derailleur to the larger flywheel.
Then, the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 had a more upright riding position with the aid of the dropper, allowing me to maintain a stable center of gravity at all times and a smoother transfer of pedaling power.
All in all, as a big-travel, full-suspension bike, it climbs well, helping riders spend the least amount of effort to conquer hills.
Decline
Of course the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 was best at descending on complex roads.
First of all, the Fox Factory 38 Grip2 shock fork and Fox Factory Float X2 rear shock respectively provided 160mm and 158mm of front and rear shock travel.
This absorbed more shock during my big drop landings and gave me the confidence to leap off of bigger drop jumps to land.
The SRAM X01’s rear chainstay with its own chain stabilizer allowed me to free from worries about the chain falling off no matter how bumpy the situation was.
In addition, because of the SRAM CODE RSC 4-piston brakes with SRAM Centerline CenterLock brake discs (front: 203mm rear: 180mm), I only needed to gently press the brake handle, and its clamp would make a very strong braking response. It was a breeze to stop this big guy.
It’s on the trails that the bike’s terrific performance came out in full force. The dw-link® design maximized the Mach 6 Pro’s rear wheel travel coupled with the 27.5-inch wheel diameter to optimize control on the trails.
Overall, the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 is a bike that will constantly stimulate my nerves and make me want to take on more exciting routes.
Specification
The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 is available in four sizes and two color finishes (XS-L).
Pivot’s full carbon frame features size-specific ride adjustments, leading-edge carbon materials and Pivot’s proprietary hollow molding technology to ensure that every rider from 4’10” to 6’2″ has a perfect match and the bike can exert optimal performance for their body type.
Next, the design of the internal cabling makes the appearance more simple and clean, and it’s convenient for daily cleaning as well as maintenance.
The layout of the silent cable tube, coupled with the protective patch on the rear lower fork, reduces the noise generated during the ride.
The protection device at the down tube reduces the damage to the carbon fiber frame from splashing stones during the ride.
The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 has mounting holes at the lower tube of the frame to support full-size water bottle holding, and mounting holes at the upper tube to fix portable tools on long rides.

Other versions
The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 is a top-of-the-line full-suspension enduro mountain bike with a unique construction, but its front and rear shock travel limits it to a more manic descending ability.
For this reason we offer a full-suspension enduro mountain bike with the same construction under the same brand, but it has a longer shock travel and will be more suitable for riders who are more interested in descending.
Pivot Firebird 29 Pro X01
Both the Pivot Firebird 29 Pro X01 and the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 use the dw-link® design. and use nearly identical components, but the former’s frame geometry gives it a longer travel.
First, the long, low geometry of the Pivot Firebird 29 Pro X01 ensures stability when descending, and the dw-link® design maximizes the Firebird 29 Pro’s rear wheel travel, eliminating edge bumps and optimizing control on top of trails.
The Pivot Firebird 29 Pro X01 features a Fox Factory 38 29″, 44mm offset, GRIP2 fork with a Fox Factory Float X2 rear shock absorber.
The fork and rear shock provide 170mm front and 165mm rear travel, allowing it to handle more complex road conditions and bring riders a more exciting riding experience.
In short, these are two full-suspension enduro mountain bikes at the same price. If you are more after intense and exciting downhill riding, then the Pivot Firebird 29 Pro X01 may be a better fit for you.

Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 vs Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Pro
The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 and Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Pro are both top-of-the-line full-suspension enduro bikes from their respective brands.
First of all, the two bikes are similar in terms of travel, but the Fox Factory 38 fork used on the former has a thicker tube diameter than the Fox Factory 36 on the latter, which also provides better support when landing on a big drop.
In terms of drivetrain, both use the SRAM X01 Eagle shifting system. The Stumpjumper EVO Pro uses the electronic shifting version, which is simpler to adjust and easier to maintain later.
Finally, they both apply SRAM Code RSC, 4-piston brakes with a simple, efficient braking feel.
But after considering the price of both, the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 is $1400 cheaper making me recommend it more.
Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 vs Trek Slash 9.8 XT
The Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 and the Trek Slash 9.8 XT are full-suspension enduro bikes with their own advantages.
The SRAM X01 drivetrain used in the Mach 6 Pro X01 has a crisper, sharper feel and faster response than the Shimano XT M8100 drivetrain in the Slash 9.8 XT.
On the damping system, the former’s FOX front and rear shocks have better support than the latter’s RockShox front and rear shocks, which are better on big drop landings.
While the latter’s initial sensitivity is better and will be more comfortable on high-speed bumpy sections of descents.
On the brake components, they apply SRAM CODE RSC 4-piston and Shimano XT M8120 respectively, which are both top-notch brakes with powerful braking performance.
Between these two bikes, the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01’s unique frame construction will be faster on the trails.
Comparatively, the Trek Slash 9.8 XT’s large 29-inch wheelset will be more stable and pass better on long descents.

Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 vs Scott Contessa Genius ST 910
Comparing the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 with the Scott Contessa Genius ST 910, the latter’s hidden rear shock absorber design looks neater in appearance. But the disassembly for maintenance will be a bit more troublesome.
The former Fox Factory 38 has a thicker tube diameter and more KASHIMA coating than the latter Fox Performance Elite Float 36, which gives it better support and lubrication of the fork movement.
In terms of drivetrain, the Mach 6 Pro X01 uses SRAM X01 higher shifting than the Contessa Genius ST 910’s SRAM GX AXS level, which will be lighter in weight.
The latter’s electronic shifting adjusting will be simpler and easier to maintain later.
In terms of braking components, both SRAM CODE RSC 4-piston and Shimano XT M8120 4 Piston have powerful braking ability, both are trustworthy.
Of these two bikes, if you want a cleaner look then the Scott Contessa Genius ST 910 will be a better fit for you, but, if you are serious about performance , I would recommend the more advanced components and performance of the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01.
Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 vs YT Industries Capra Launch Edition MX
Both the Pivot Mach 6 Pro X01 and the YT Industries Capra Launch Edition MX use the same SRAM X01 drive components and SRAM CODE RSC brakes.
I have to say, the paint job on this YT is really distinctive and easy to see in the crowd at a glance. I really like this unique paint job.
In terms of damping, the latter’s CANE CREEK DB KITSUMA shock has a better cushioning in drop landings. It ensures that the rear end of the bike is not overly active.
Then the ROCKSHOX ZEB ULTIMATE RC2’s fork has better initial sensitivity than the Mach 6 Pro’s Fox38, but it will be less supportive.
In summary, both bikes are excellent full-suspension enduro bikes, and you won’t regret choosing either one.
