Riding Experience
The best way to test a racing bicycle is to participate in a race. So, I booked my flight and hotel through Skyscanner and arrived at the International Freeride Tour. The route was winding with many steep slopes, making it a challenging ride.
Competition
During the race, I was amazed by the Masi Evoluzione 105, particularly its carbon frame. It was incredibly lightweight, allowing me to ride at high speeds.
When encountering uphill sections, I adjusted the Shimano 105 R7000 and Shimano 105 FD-R7000 braze-on derailleurs to the smallest gear ratio, maximizing power output with minimal effort and effectively managing my energy across different terrains.
On the downhill sections, I firmly held onto the Devox DBar.A1. Its aluminum alloy construction was well-designed to provide both flexibility and comfort, allowing for precise handling and maneuvering around large rocks on the road.
Furthermore, I could rely on the responsive Shimano 105 BR-R7010 Direct Mount brakes to handle emergencies without the risk of slippage or stiffness due to prolonged grip.
I rode the Masi Evoluzione 105 through the most challenging parts of the track, leveraging my experience and the bike’s features. The Shimano 105 RD-R7000SS and Shimano 105 FD-R7000 braze-on derailleurs facilitated smooth gear shifts.
Whenever an emergency arose, I was ready to decelerate using the Shimano 105 BR-R7010 Direct Mount brakes. Additionally, the 73.0° head tube angle allowed for swift changes in direction, instilling confidence in me thanks to the Masi Evoluzione 105.
Is that all?
The Kenda Valkyrie Pro is a high-performance road tire that is fast, reliable, and lightweight. I could feel its excellent rolling resistance during the ride.
Additionally, its outstanding grip on both dry and wet surfaces helped me adapt to different track conditions. Moreover, its high puncture resistance eliminated any concerns about tire blowouts.
Furthermore, the Selle Italia Road X short saddle provided a comfortable sitting position, reducing pressure on my buttocks during the ride.
The Brev M. Carbon handlebars offered some flexibility, helping to reduce vibrations. They effectively mitigated the discomfort caused by my aggressive riding posture, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Masi Evoluzione 105.

Masi Evoluzione 105 vs Felt FR 30
The Masi Evoluzione 105 features an excellent Evoluzione | Race-tuned MC-X TeXtreme carbon frame, which is lightweight.
However, carbon frames are prone to breakage when subjected to lateral impacts. The Felt FR 30, equipped with the FeltRoad 3.0 | SuperLite aluminum frame, offers greater durability.
On the other hand, the Masi Evoluzione 105 comes with Shimano 105 BR-R7010 Direct Mount rim brakes. These brakes are lightweight but not as effective as the Shimano 105 R7070 hydraulic disc brakes on the Felt FR 30.
Therefore, if you prioritize a very lightweight bike, the Masi Evoluzione 105 is a great choice. If you value superior braking performance, the Felt FR 30 would be a better option for you.

Masi Evoluzione 105 vs Holdsworth Corsa SRAM Rival 22 Carbon
The Masi Evoluzione 105 is equipped with SRAM Rival Hydraulic Brakes. These brakes provide better braking performance compared to the Shimano 105 BR-R7010 Direct Mount brakes found on the Masi Evoluzione 105, as they can avoid excessive heat buildup during continuous braking. However, rim brakes are lighter and can enable faster riding in competitive racing.
The Holdsworth Corsa SRAM Rival 22 Carbon has a stack/reach ratio of 1.45, which is slightly larger than the 1.42 ratio of the Masi Evoluzione 105. This allows for a more comfortable riding experience for cyclists.
So, if you prioritize a more comfortable ride, the Holdsworth Corsa SRAM Rival 22 Carbon would better suit your needs. If you prefer a lighter bike, the Masi Evoluzione 105 would be the preferred choice.
Masi Evoluzione 105 vs 2024 KHS FLITE 150
The disc design, 6061 aluminum frame, and Hi-Tensile Unicrown steel fork of the KHS FLITE 150 contribute to its lower price compared to the Masi Evoluzione 105, with a price difference of $1200.
However, the aluminum frame and steel fork provide the bike with added strength. On the other hand, the Masi Evoluzione 105 features a carbon frame and carbon fork, which effectively reduces weight.
Additionally, the KHS FLITE 150 is equipped with Tektro MD-C310 Mechanical Disc brakes. These brakes offer better braking performance compared to the rim brakes of the Masi Evoluzione 105, but they are slightly heavier than rim brakes.
In summary, if your budget is limited, I would recommend the KHS FLITE 150. If you prioritize a lighter bike, the Masi Evoluzione 105 would be more suitable for you.

Masi Evoluzione 105 vs Factor O2 SRAM Rival eTap AXS
The Masi Evoluzione 105 is equipped with a 2×11 Electronic shifting system, which provides rapid and easy gear changes. However, when riding in winter with gloves, there is a risk of accidental shifting, so you need to be extra cautious.
On the other hand, the Factor O2 SRAM Rival eTap AXS features Hydraulic disc brakes, which offer excellent braking performance but also add more weight.
Additionally, the Factor O2 SRAM Rival eTap AXS has a stack/reach ratio of 1.44, slightly larger than the Masi Evoluzione 105’s 1.42. This provides better extension and allows for a more comfortable riding experience.
However, the Masi Evoluzione 105 has a larger head tube angle of 73.5°, which contributes to excellent maneuverability.
Therefore, if you prioritize agile handling, the Masi Evoluzione 105 will meet your needs. If you prefer a comfortable ride, the Factor O2 SRAM Rival eTap AXS would be a better choice.
