Riding Experience
It’s a hardtail bike with a shifting system, which gives me more speed options than those single-speed track bikes, and allows me to ride faster or slower.
Before setting off, I also booked accommodation through Skyscanner to give myself ample space to rest and prepare. I decided to take the bike to a skate park in the city on a weekend to see how it would perform in the venue. It made me curious if it would derail the chain at high impact. The park is full of ramps, rails, half pipes, and multiple obstacles that are a favorite among skaters and action riders. As you can see, this was the perfect place for me to test the bike’s agility and the display of its movements. It proved to be very agile indeed, with a very short stem that allowed it to lock in a quick angle or spin for a few weeks.
Slope Riding
When I entered a slope, I was worried whether the brake force would make it difficult for me to stop. But the truth is, my worry was completely unnecessary. Even though it doesn’t come with any suspension, the wide tires gave me a very soft feel on the ground. The impact of the jump was sufficiently absorbed and the mechanical disc brakes at the front and rear provided me with good braking, and I could stop quickly and steadily.
As I crossed different obstacles, it increased my confidence step by step. The aluminum alloy frame made it not as bulky as it looks. I can easily make jumps and drops without worrying about any quality accidents. The stability of the GT Street Performer is incredible, even with GT Smoothie Session 2.5″ tires at high speeds, they can maintain a strong grip. Another impressive point is the rich gear system, which allows me to easily climb steep hills. Coupled with the lightweight aluminum frame with compressed geometry, it makes it an outstanding climber.
Commuting
When I used it as a commuting bike, I realized that the GT Street Performer is indeed suitable for commuting conditions. It has many humanized designs, including a chainring with a built-in chain guard, which allows you not to worry about your pants getting caught when wearing loose pants. The extended fenders design both front and rear, allowing you not to worry about mud spots appearing behind you on rainy days. At the same time, the 9-speed design can maintain an appropriate cadence whether going uphill or downhill.
Overall, I am impressed with the performance of the GT Street Performer in the skate park.
