Components and Features
Alpha Gold Aluminum Frame (4.5/5)
The Trek Verve 2 disc comes with the Alpha Gold Aluminum frame in the more prominent paint colors of Lithium Grey and Rage Red.
The glossy, smooth paint fits firmly on the frame and there are no complaints about the paint seen in numerous tires and videos. And I personally prefer the paint color of Rage Red.
The upright geometry allows you to maintain an upright riding position all the time, protecting your lower back and back, which is why many fitness riders choose the Verve 2 disc.
What is obvious is the internal alignment and the very simple white logo, which looks clean and simple. There are also a lot of small design details on the frame, with mounting holes for the rear rack and fenders, meaning it becomes more suitable for commuters.
Finally, there is an integrated lock that can be installed at the rear fork, making it easy to lock it up and not get stolen when you enter the supermarket or buy coffee. Next, there are two water bottle holder mounts, so when working out or riding long distances, you can stop and hydrate well and set off again for further destinations.
There is also a lowstep frame for the Trek Verve 2 lowstep, with a super low span, making it easier for elderly people with limited mobility, or ladies who like lowstep to ride. And the 2022 lowstep is an upgraded design with a more stylish appearance. We will explain these in the other versions below.
Shimano Altus drivetrain (4.4/5)
The Trek Verve 2 disc is equipped with a Shimano Altus 3X8 drivetrain. It is higher-end than Shimano’s low-end Tourney, so the efficiency of the drive, as well as the service life will increase.
With a total of 24 gears, the Trek Verve 2 disc is fun to start riding and change to the best gear combination when on different terrain.
If cruises riders, will enjoy the leisurely large gears, do not care how fast the ride. Fitness riders, on the other hand, will love the change that this brings, and the outdated 3X7 drivetrain that no longer allows riders to feel the novelty of the experience.
Tektro Hydraulic Disc Brakes (4.3/5)
Less maintenance hydraulic disc brakes will gradually show advantages in braking precision and over the next up to five years of use.
The brake lever travel is shorter than with the slightly lower-end mechanical disc brakes. And the Trek Verve 2 disc’s brake lever has been tweaked a bit to be closer to the fingers, providing superb braking power in all weather.
This is a hydraulic disc brake with a good braking experience.
Adjustable Stem (4.5/5)
This is different from many hybrid bikes we remember, with a large adjustable range of angles.
You can ride more comfortably, fitness riders will prefer it, and adjusting the right angle when exercising different parts changes the body’s firing point.
Bontrager H5 Comp Tires (4.0/5)
The steel wire bead makes it more wear-resistant. And this tire also has puncture resistance.
The outside of the tire also has knobs like a mountain tire, allowing you to provide more grip when steering or riding on gravel surfaces.
The tread is flat in the center, which doesn’t make you feel slightly bumpy when riding on flat roads. Finally, the 45c width of the tire is known to provide better riding stability. We really like this width of tire.
Adjustable suspension Seatpost (4.5/5)
The Verve 2 disc offers a comfortable ride because its seatpost has a shock suspension of 27.2mm, which is approximately equal to 27mm of suspension, although not as good as the Trek Dual Sport 4.
Considering the usage of Verve 2 disc, it is very comfortable in general roads, or city roads with speed bumps. Then the seat post height can be adjusted up to 330mm, allowing quick height adjustment without tools.
Other versions of Trek Verve 2 disc
Verve 2 Disc Lowstep 2022
Except for the difference in frame design, there is not much difference. And with Verve 2 disc, it is a very good family combo set.
You and your wife can ride the Verve 2 Disc in Lithium Grey and Rage Red colors respectively and spend a leisurely holiday ride together.
Verve 2 Disc 2020 and Verve 2 Disc Lowstep 2020
The 2022 Trek Verve 2 Disc Lowstep has a frame design that pushes the limits of tradition compared to this bike.
If the Verve 2 Disc Lowstep 2020 is only for women riders. Then the 2022 Trek Verve 2 Disc Lowstep is an option for men as well. And the new model has some upgrades in the front chainstay of the drivetrain.
The other components are just new parts, so with the improvement of technology, parts manufacturers will also have more data accumulation, in the improvement of comfortable riding Verve 2 Disc 2022 will be more comfortable.

Comparison
Trek Verve 1 Disc VS 2 Disc
We have also explained some of these in our detailed review of the Trek Verve 1 Disc. The difference in accessories is mainly in the drivetrain.
The Trek Verve 1 Disc uses a 3X7 drivetrain, which is one flywheel behind the Trek Verve 2 Disc’s 3X8 drivetrain. In terms of riding comfort, the Verve 2 Disc is equipped with a seatpost suspension, which provides a certain level of shock absorption.
Finally, the pedals have been upgraded accordingly, and the Bontrager City pedals are more durable. The difference between these two models is very small, mainly from the preferred body color, as the Trek Verve 2 Disc is more suitable for young people.

Trek Verve 2 vs Verve 3
The Trek Verve 3 Disc is a bit more high-end than the Trek Verve 2 Disc in terms of accessories. However, I think the riding comfort of these two models is similar.
The Trek Verve 3 Disc has upgraded the Rim with a Bontrager Tubeless Ready Disc, which allows you to upgrade to vacuum tires without having to replace this component.
The other is the drivetrain, the more expensive Shimano Acera 2X9 drivetrain, which is much more novice friendly. Even if you haven’t ridden a bike in over 30 years, you’ll be able to master the shifting skills much faster.
Riding comfort-wise, the IsoZone handlebars and grips, with their added damping, will be more enjoyable for riders who hate body buzz when riding with such a component stack. So we still think it’s a good idea to go with the Trek Verve 2 or Verve 3 depending on your budget.

Next is the quality of accessories, because to match some mountain riding, are correspondingly made some upgrades. If you’re after a comfortable ride in the city, the Verve 2 Disc is a good choice, with Seatpost suspension and adjustable handlebars all designed for you.
If you’re a rider who wants to try hilly mountain terrain, the Trek Dual Sport 2 will allow you to do just that.
Schwinn GTX Hybrid Bike VS Trek Verve 2 Disc
The Schwinn GTX will be less comfortable to ride than the Trek Verve 2 Disc. But the price is more affordable, and it’s also a durable aluminum frame. It also comes with a 50 mm shock fork and more paint colors.
But we think you get what you pay for, so in the pursuit of high cost performance, the most important thing is to fit yourself. Can meet commuting and city block cruising Schwinn GTX Hybrid Bike is also worth choosing a hybrid bike.
