Adventure is something worth trying for everyone, and I’ve spent several years participating in off-road cycling. Recently, I wanted to get a new bike, and that’s when I came across the Yeti ARC T3. It’s an exceptional hardtail mountain bike, and I’m looking forward to how it performs.

Now, let’s dive into the riding experience, key features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Yeti ARC T3. In the latter part of this article, we’ll also compare it with several other bike models. If you’re interested in more bike reviews, feel free to follow us.

Riding Experience

The Yeti ARC T3 is an outstanding hardtail mountain bike that delivers exceptional performance in off-road riding. To test its capabilities, I booked a flight and a hotel at Bromont: Montagne d’Expériences.

I chose the La Vingt (Haut) trail at Bromont: Montagne d’Expériences. La Vingt (Haut) is 2159ft long, predominantly downhill, with a 367ft altitude drop. The trail is covered with loose rocks, 按and has steep downhill sections, minimal uphill portions, and tight bends, all of which significantly impact my riding experience.

Off-Road Cycling

I must admit, the SRAM XX1 EAGLE AXS microSHIFT Rear Derailleur operates smoothly. I adjusted it to different gear ratios to adapt to varying road conditions. During downhill sections, I leaned back and adjusted my center of gravity to prevent any potential accidents. The SRAM LEVEL TLM Hydraulic Disc brakes provided timely braking, ensuring my safety.

As I approached uphill sections, I set the SRAM XX1 EAGLE AXS microSHIFT Rear Derailleur to the smallest gear ratio, allowing me to generate more power with minimal effort. I’ve always enjoyed using the momentum from downhill rides to tackle uphill portions. This time was no different. In the air, I skillfully controlled the YETI CARBON handlebar and adjusted my posture. The 130mm front travel absorbed the impact, making it an exhilarating experience. I completed the jump, and the feeling was fantastic.

When I encountered a series of tight bends, I controlled the YETI CARBON handlebar, shifting my weight left and right for smooth cornering while applying the SRAM LEVEL TLM Hydraulic Disc brakes for controlled deceleration. This combination of actions felt great, and I executed the turns with confidence—the confidence that the Yeti ARC T3 instills in me.

Is that all?

The ODI ELITE PRO grips provide a comfortable hold on the YETI CARBON handlebar. These grips are ergonomically designed with a single clamp locking.

Moreover, the variable knurl pattern gives me ample traction without causing discomfort to my hands. Holding onto them feels effortless and liberating.

In addition, it comes equipped with MAXXIS MINION DHF tires with a Super Tacky compound, a special low-rebound, high-traction material perfect for mountain biking. The tires also feature EXO puncture protection, ensuring my safety. I feel secure during my rides and confidently perform various biking techniques.

Other Versions

After numerous tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It truly is an outstanding hardtail mountain bike.

However, many riders have their preferences when it comes to performance or components. So, we conducted further research by looking into similar bike models.

Yeti ARC T4

Yeti ARC T4
Yeti ARC T4

Both of these bikes share identical geometry, but the Yeti ARC T3 is slightly heavier than the Yeti ARC T4, which may create more resistance for riders. A heavier bike typically offers more stability, while a lighter one provides more agility.

To be honest, there isn’t a significant difference between these two bikes, and their components are mostly the same. The Yeti ARC T3 comes with a CANE CREEK 40 INTEGRATED headset, while the Yeti ARC T4 is equipped with a CANE CREEK 110 INTEGRATED headset. The 110 series features a Cane Creek high-grade sealing design and Hellbender stainless steel bearings for smooth steering. On the other hand, the 40 series is lower-priced and has slightly less effective sealing but still provides sufficient strength characteristics.

Considering the minor upgrades on the Yeti ARC T4 compared to the Yeti ARC T3, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing the Yeti ARC T4. The Yeti ARC T3 offers better value for money and is more suitable for riders.

Yeti ARC T3 vs RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build

RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build
RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build

The RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build features a sturdy yet lightweight titanium alloy frame. The Yeti ARC T3 has a carbon frame that is also lightweight but not as robust. It may be susceptible to breaking when faced with side impacts.

Moreover, the Yeti ARC T3 with 130mm front travel has slightly inferior suspension performance compared to the RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build with 140mm front travel. However, the Yeti ARC T3 comes with a dropper, allowing you to adjust the seat height, which is not present in the RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build.

So, if you prefer riding in a standing position, the dropper on the Yeti ARC T3 will help you adjust the seat height and prevent your legs from hitting the seat. If you want better suspension performance, the RSD MIDDLECHILD V2 Titanium Deore D2 Build would be more suitable for you.

Yeti ARC T3 vs Ibis DV9 V2 XT

Ibis DV9 V2 XT
Ibis DV9 V2 XT

The Yeti ARC T3 features a precise 1×12 Electronic drivetrain that allows for accurate shifting. It is also highly maintainable, requiring only timely charging. Additionally, it can be set to automatic mode, adapting the shifting based on riding intensity and speed. However, the Ibis DV9 V2 XT offers better durability and easier maintenance.

On the other hand, the Ibis DV9 V2 XT has a top speed of 26mph, while the Yeti ARC T3 can reach 28mph, allowing for faster riding. Furthermore, the Yeti ARC T3 has 130mm front travel, providing better suspension performance compared to the Ibis DV9 V2 XT with 120mm front travel.

In conclusion, if you desire an electronic drivetrain, I would recommend the Yeti ARC T3. If you prioritize a more durable drivetrain, the Ibis DV9 V2 XT would better suit your needs.

Yeti ARC T3 vs Yeti ARC T1

Yeti ARC T1
Yeti ARC T1

The weight of the Yeti ARC T3 is greater than that of the Yeti ARC T1. While this makes riding more stable, it also brings more riding resistance, whereas the lighter bike offers greater agility. Additionally, the Yeti ARC T1 does not have an electronic drivetrain, and its shifting may not be as precise as the electronic drivetrain of the Yeti ARC T3, but it comes at a lower cost.

Furthermore, both bikes have identical geometry, but the Yeti ARC T1 is $600 cheaper than the Yeti ARC T3. If you are a beginner, the Yeti ARC T1 can meet your needs. If you have extensive riding experience and desire an electronic drivetrain, the Yeti ARC T3 would be a better choice for you.

Reeb Dikyelous2 GX
Reeb Dikyelous2 GX

The Yeti ARC T3 features 130mm front travel, but its suspension performance is not as good as the Reeb Dikyelous2 GX with 140mm front travel. However, the Reeb Dikyelous2 GX comes with a steel frame, which is very sturdy but also adds extra weight. This can impact the rider’s cycling experience.

The Reeb Dikyelous2 GX has a stack/reach ratio of 1.42, which is slightly larger than the Yeti ARC T3’s stack/reach ratio of 1.39, offering better adaptability and a more comfortable riding experience. So, if you prefer a more comfortable ride, the Reeb Dikyelous2 GX is a great choice for you. On the other hand, if you desire a lighter bike, the Yeti ARC T3 would be your best option.
