Last month, I participated in an enduro with many friends. This competition made me realize the outstanding performance of electric bicycles in various events. An excellent electric bike can undoubtedly assist riders in enduros. So, recently, I came across the Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission, which performs exceptionally well in endurance riding, and I believe any rider participating in enduros would love it.

Below, we analyze the riding experience, key features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission. In the latter part of this article, we also compare several top bike models. If you want to learn more about bike reviews, you can follow us.

Riding Experience

Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission

To better test the performance of the Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission, I purchased a flight ticket and booked a hotel on IHG to travel to the outskirts of Washington. After thorough exploration and research, I planned the route for this test. The journey was long, with numerous ups and downs and many bends. It was a challenging test for the Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission, but I had full confidence in it.

Off-Road Riding

Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission

The June temperature in Washington wasn’t too high, and I started my ride. I gradually accelerated and used the dropper to lower the seat height. As I encountered an uphill section, I needed to stand while riding to avoid hitting my legs against the seat during acceleration. Moreover, I adjusted to the smallest gear ratio using the SRAM X0 EAGLE AXS TRANSMISSION rear derailleur to avoid straining the SHIMANO EP800 motor and SHIMANO 630Wh INTERNAL BATTERY.

However, when I rode downhill, there were many loose stones, dry branches, and small pits on the ground, but I didn’t have to worry about any issues. The Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission comes equipped with MAXXIS ASSEGAI 2.5 tires, which can roll over many obstacles. With 170mm front travel and 160mm rear travel, it provides excellent suspension, and I hardly felt any bumps.

In every bend, the ODI ELITE PRO grips’ rich texture helped me control the YETI CARBON Handlebar. I sat on the SILVERADO CUSTOM saddle and kept adjusting my center of gravity to handle the continuous bends. The MAXXIS ASSEGAI 2.5 tires provided exceptional grip regardless of the leaning angle, giving me the confidence I needed. That’s the confidence the MAXXIS ASSEGAI 2.5 brings to me.

Is that all?

The Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission boasts a fantastic SILVERADO CUSTOM saddle. It allows riders to tilt their pelvis to different degrees, enabling flexible turning during various riding postures. Its centerline cutout design further relieves pressure on sensitive areas, providing a very comfortable riding experience.

Furthermore, I gripped the ODI ELITE PRO grips, which are lightweight and ideal for long rides. They feel ergonomic and very comfortable. The variable knurl pattern alternates from smooth to sharp texture to provide more traction without irritating your hands.

Specifications

The Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission features a TURQ Series carbon fiber frame with a FOX FACTORY 38 GRIP fork and FOX FACTORY FLOAT X2 rear shock. The bike has 160mm of rear travel and 170mm of front travel, providing powerful suspension performance.

Equipped with a SHIMANO EP800 motor and SHIMANO 630Wh INTERNAL BATTERY, the 160E T3 X0 Transmission offers robust power. The MAXXIS ASSEGAI 2.5 tires provide excellent traction and come with EXO+ puncture protection, ensuring rider safety.

Other Versions

After numerous tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It is an outstanding hardtail mountain bike.

However, many riders have their requirements for its performance or components, so we investigated bikes of the same type further.

Yeti 160E T1

These two bikes have identical geometry and components, with only the groupset being different. The Yeti 160E T1 uses the SRAM X0 EAGLE AXS TRANSMISSION Rear Derailleur, featuring an overload clutch that boosts resiliency and a tucked-in profile that houses protection covers on the B-knuckle and outer link.

On the other hand, the Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission comes with the SHIMANO XT featuring the HYPERGLIDE+ transmission system with redesigned freewheel and chain. It elevates MTB riding to a new level, improving shifting speed, efficiency, and smoothness.

The difference between these two bikes is not significant, with the 160E T3 X0 Transmission being $1300 more expensive than the 160E T1. So, if your budget is limited, I would recommend the Yeti 160E T1. If you want to enhance shifting speed, the Yeti 160E T3 X0 Transmission would be the better choice.
