Intrigued by its mullet setup, I wasted no time in putting the 2023 Specialized Stumpjumper EVO LTD to the test as soon as I got my hands on it. Does its performance manage to leave you awestruck?

To thoroughly evaluate the capabilities of the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO LTD, I booked a flight and made reservations at an IHG hotel to venture into the outskirts of Washington. Opting for an extensive route, I subjected the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO LTD to a rigorous test in this location.

Throughout the descent, I maintained a high speed while ensuring stability. The SRAM Code RS hydraulic disc brake efficiently decelerated when encountering hazards, ensuring my safety. Along the route, I deliberately chose a bumpy section to test the bike’s suspension. With 160mm of front travel and 150mm of rear travel, the bike’s performance was exceptional. The ride felt comfortable, and the suspension handled the rough terrain well.
In corners, I adeptly controlled the Specialized Trail handlebar and adjusted my weight distribution while seated on the Bridge Comp saddle. With my extensive cycling experience, I identified optimal points for applying force in each corner, skillfully navigating through each turn. The feeling was simply exhilarating.

Throughout the ride, I found one of the standout features of this bike to be its tires. The tire configuration consists of a GRIPTON® T9 compound 29×2.3″ front tire and a GRIPTON® T7 compound 27.5×2.3″ rear tire. This mullet setup offers substantial control and traction, allowing me to maneuver the bike with agility. Additionally, these tires themselves are exceptional, featuring excellent puncture resistance. While providing impressive performance, they also prioritize safety.
Furthermore, during endurance riding, saddle comfort is paramount. The Bridge Comp saddle is well-suited for both road and off-road cycling. Sitting on its wide, flat nose, I experienced greater adjustability, ensuring comfort through every turn. Its design prevents discomfort in sensitive areas and provides a comfortable seating experience.
The 2023 Specialized Stumpjumper EVO LTD is an outstanding full-suspension endurance mountain bike. It features a FACT 11m carbon chassis and rear-end frame, offering a lightweight build with exceptional responsiveness. Additionally, it utilizes a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork and RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate rear shock, boasting 160mm of front travel and 150mm of rear travel for excellent suspension performance.
Furthermore, its front wheel is equipped with a Butcher, GRID TRAIL casing, GRIPTON® T9 compound 29×2.3″ tire, while the rear wheel sports an Eliminator, GRID TRAIL casing, GRIPTON® T7 compound 27.5×2.3″ tire. This setup combines the traction of a 29-inch wheel with the maneuverability of a 27.5-inch wheel. The SRAM GX Eagle AXS 1×12 Electronic Drivetrain offers precise shifting and doesn’t require frequent adjustments—just regular charging.

Carbon wheels are lightweight but more susceptible to breakage from side impacts. Additionally, the S-Works model is equipped with advanced SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS and SRAM X01 Eagle AXS components, making it an excellent choice for experienced riders.
Furthermore, both bikes share identical geometry and feature the FACT 11m carbon chassis and rear-end frame. However, the Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper EVO is equipped with a FOX FLOAT 36 Factory fork and FOX FLOAT X Factory rear shock, whereas the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO LTD uses a RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork and RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate rear shock. The FOX FLOAT Factory components are top-tier and provide significant assistance to riders.
