During our leisure time, my son Alan and I headed to Big Sky Resort and chose the Joker Lips trail. This trail is 1.0km long with a 195m elevation drop, and it offers a moderate level of difficulty. However, for kids, it presents quite a challenge.
Starting from the trailhead with me trailing behind, I watched Alan ride this bike with a brilliant smile and a confident look in his eyes. The SPECIALIZED JETT 24 mountain bike boasts a sturdy frame, allowing Alan to navigate the rugged mountain terrain effortlessly. He skillfully tackled every obstacle, and the stability and ease of handling of this bike kept him steady on the bumpy trail. I felt proud of his biking skills.
As we continued our adventure, we encountered a steep uphill section. Alan showed no fear; he adjusted his speed and gear ratio, steadily pedaling up the slope step by step. The efficient gearing of this bike allowed him to adapt easily to different inclines, showcasing his resilience and determination.
On the downhill stretch, Alan sped ahead with the wind in his face. He breathed in the fresh mountain air and savored the thrill of speed. The powerful braking system of this bike ensured he could confidently control his speed while descending at high speeds. We weaved through dense forest trails, maneuvering the bike with agility, filled with awe and love for nature. He bathed in the embrace of nature, enjoying a blissful time in perfect harmony with the SPECIALIZED JETT 24.
I quietly observed his every move from behind, feeling genuine joy for his growth and progress. As a father, I proudly watched him thrive. He wasn’t just my son; he was a strong and brave rider.

Alan’s face beamed with satisfaction, and the seamless cooperation between him and the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 made this ride even more perfect. SPECIALIZED JETT 24 vs. Giant XTC Jr 20 Lite
The SPECIALIZED JETT 24 features an aluminum fork, while the Giant XTC Jr 20 Lite is equipped with a steel fork. Aluminum forks offer excellent durability and are cost-effective. However, they are susceptible to breakage at welding points, making them prone to snapping. On the other hand, steel forks provide decent shock absorption but tend to rust easily and are less convenient to maintain.
Furthermore, the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 has 24″ wheels, whereas the Giant XTC Jr 20 Lite has only 20″ wheels. Larger wheels offer good rollover capabilities, while smaller wheels are highly maneuverable. The Giant XTC Jr 20 Lite comes with a 1×7 drivetrain, while the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 is equipped with a 1×8 drivetrain. The 1×8 drivetrain offers a wider gear range and smoother shifting.
SPECIALIZED JETT 24 vs. Co-op REV 20 6-Speed Plus
The Co-op REV 20 6-Speed Plus is equipped with mechanical disc brakes, while the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 has rim brakes. Rim brakes are lighter in weight but provide only average braking performance. Additionally, during extended downhill braking, they tend to generate a significant amount of heat, potentially causing damage to both the brakes and the rim. In contrast, mechanical disc brakes offer relatively better braking performance and are very convenient for maintenance and repairs.
Furthermore, the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 features a 1×8 drivetrain. Compared to the 1×6 drivetrain on the Co-op REV 20 6-Speed Plus, the 1×8 drivetrain has a wider gear range and smoother shifting. Moreover, the Co-op REV 20 6-Speed Plus has 20″ wheels, which make it highly maneuverable. In contrast, the SPECIALIZED JETT 24’s 24″ wheels offer better roll-over capabilities.
SPECIALIZED JETT 24 vs. Scott Scale RC 400
The weight of the Scott Scale RC 400 is 19.6 lbs, which is the same as the SPECIALIZED JETT 24. They both have an all-aluminum structure and 24″ wheels. However, the Scott Scale RC 400 is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, offering excellent braking performance. However, it is heavier and less easy to maintain and repair. In contrast, the SPECIALIZED JETT 24, which comes with rim brakes, is lighter in weight but provides only average braking performance, with the drawback of potential damage during continuous braking.
The Scott Scale RC 400 features a 1×11 drivetrain, while the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 has a 1×8 drivetrain. The 1×11 drivetrain offers superior shifting performance. Additionally, the Scott Scale RC 400 has tire widths of 2.25″, whereas the SPECIALIZED JETT 24’s tire width is 2.0″. It’s worth noting that wider tires provide better traction on softer road surfaces.
SPECIALIZED JETT 24 vs. Norco Storm 24 Disc
From a geometry standpoint, the Norco Storm 24 Disc has a 1.34 stack/reach ratio, whereas the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 has a stack/reach ratio of 1.41, which is slightly more relaxed, making the ride more comfortable. Additionally, the SPECIALIZED JETT 24 can reach a speed of 22mph, while the Norco Storm 24 Disc only reaches 14mph. The SPECIALIZED JETT 24 holds a certain speed advantage.
Furthermore, some components of the Norco Storm 24 Disc are slightly better. It features mechanical disc brakes, providing decent braking performance and being relatively easy to maintain and repair. However, its 1×7 drivetrain performs slightly worse compared to the 1×8 drivetrain on the SPECIALIZED JETT 24.
This is our review of the SPECIALIZED JETT 24. It’s an excellent youth mountain bike that can inspire a love for off-roading in kids. Considering all factors, we’ve given it a high rating of 4.6. If you’re looking for more bike information, please check out our other reviews.
