Orbea RISE H15 20mph

The Orbea RISE H15 20mph is a lightweight full-suspension electric mountain bike. With its outstanding geometry and carefully selected reliable components, it delivers powerful riding performance.

In the following analysis, we’ll discuss the riding experience, key features, components, specifications, and compare the Orbea RISE H15 20mph to other models. If you’re interested in more bike reviews, feel free to follow us.

Riding Experience

The Orbea RISE H15 20mph features a belt drive system, which is quieter compared to traditional chain drives. It offers superior off-road capabilities compared to other types of commuter bikes, which is something I like.

To test its capabilities, I decided to take my Orbea RISE H15 20mph to the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park, where I booked a nearby hotel through IHG. The mountain bike park boasts a 940-meter vertical drop, featuring big jumps, winding trails, and intense downhill sections.

Climbing

When I rode the Orbea RISE H15 20mph uphill, I found the Shimano EP8-RS motor to be powerful, making the climb more effortless.

Additionally, the excellent geometry and well-tuned suspension provided a stable center of gravity during climbs. The weight distribution on the bike is well-balanced, allowing the front wheel to maintain good contact with the ground and ensuring efficient pedaling. The suspension design with excellent support helped improve pedaling efficiency.

Moreover, the Maxxis Rekon 2.40″ 120 TPI 3CMaxxTerra Exo+ TLR tires offered exceptional grip, keeping the bike firmly planted on the ground and reducing slippage, thus improving power transfer.

Overall, I’m highly satisfied with the climbing performance of the Orbea RISE H15 20mph. The powerful motor makes uphill climbs easier and more manageable on a full-suspension mountain bike.

Descending

I enjoyed the performance of the Orbea RISE H15 20mph during descents. With the Fox 36 Float Performance front fork and Fox FLOAT X Performance rear shock, it offers 150mm of travel in the front and 140mm in the rear.

They effectively absorb most of the impact and vibrations when landing from significant drops, providing a smoother and safer feeling.

Furthermore, the 29″ large wheels paired with the Maxxis Rekon 2.40″ 120 TPI 3CMaxxTerra Exo+ TLR tires provide a stable descending experience on challenging and complex trails. The larger wheel diameter offers excellent traction and allows the bike to roll over smaller obstacles with ease.

Additionally, the Orbea RISE H15 20mph performs well on narrow trails. Compared to other full-suspension electric mountain bikes, it offers a riding experience closer to that of a regular full-suspension bike, providing agile and responsive handling.

The Shimano M6100 brakes with 180mm front and rear rotors offer responsive braking performance.

Specification

The Orbea RISE H15 20mph offers four sizes (S to XL) of aluminum alloy frames to choose from, suitable for riders with heights ranging from 4’11” to 6’6″.

The dropper post design ensures stable weight distribution between climbs and descents, keeping the rider in an optimal position for continuous riding.

Equipped with 29″ large wheels throughout the lineup, the bike guarantees strong riding performance and stability. The tires also enhance the bike’s stability during descents and provide better traction over smaller bumps.

Furthermore, the internal cable routing design gives the bike a clean and tidy appearance, making it easier to clean daily. The quiet cable guides and rear dropout protectors reduce noise during intense rides.

Finally, the Shimano EP8-RS motor delivers powerful output with virtually no noise. The riding experience is smooth and silky.

Orbea RISE H15 20mph vs YT Industries Decoy CORE 3 29

YT Industries Decoy CORE 3 29
YT Industries Decoy CORE 3 29

Both of these bikes are excellent full-suspension electric mountain bikes.

Firstly, both bikes feature the same Fox 36 Float Performance suspension fork, providing 150mm of travel. They offer equally impressive support during significant drops, ensuring stability and safety upon landing.

In terms of drivetrain components, the former is equipped with a mix of SHIMANO XT M8100 and SLX M7100 components, which may offer slightly better performance in certain aspects compared to the latter’s SHIMANO SLX M7100 components.

Regarding the brake components, the Orbea RISE H15 20mph with its Shimano M6100 brakes provides a smoother braking feel. On the other hand, the YT Industries Decoy CORE 3 29 with its SRAM CODE R brakes offers a more aggressive and direct braking sensation.

Therefore, choosing between these two bikes will ultimately result in a positive and commendable selection, regardless of which one is chosen.

Orbea RISE H15 20mph vs Trek Fuel EXe 9.5

Trek Fuel EXe 9.5
Trek Fuel EXe 9.5

When comparing these two bikes, I would highly recommend the former. It features higher-end components and offers greater riding capabilities.

In terms of the suspension system, although both bikes have the same front and rear travel, the former’s Fox suspension components provide better support for more intense downhill riding. The latter’s RockShox suspension components, on the other hand, exhibit better sensitivity in the initial stage, making them suitable for rough, rocky descents.

Both bikes use components from Shimano for the drivetrain and brakes. However, the Orbea RISE H15 20mph utilizes higher-grade components, which correspond to more powerful performance.

In conclusion, these are the reasons why I would recommend the Orbea RISE H15 20mph. It offers greater riding capabilities.

Giant Trance X Advanced, E+ Elite 3

These two bikes feature frames made of different materials, with the latter having a carbon fiber frame that is lighter in weight.

However, in terms of components, the former bike is equipped with higher-performance components. Firstly, it utilizes the Fox 36 Float Performance suspension fork, which offers better support compared to the RockShox 35 Gold RL on the latter bike. As a result, it provides more reliable performance in more intense riding scenarios.

Regarding the drivetrain components, the Orbea RISE H15 20mph also uses higher-grade Shimano components compared to the Giant Trance X Advanced, E+ Elite 3. This results in better transmission efficiency and smoother shifting. Additionally, the braking performance of the former bike is also stronger and more reliable.

In conclusion, if you prioritize a better frame material, the Giant Trance X Advanced, E+ Elite 3 would be a good choice. On the other hand, the Orbea RISE H15 20mph is more like a complete package of a full-suspension electric mountain bike, excelling in various aspects of performance.

CUBE STEREO HYBRID 120, ABS 750

In terms of suspension, the former is equipped with a Fox 36 Float Performance fork, which has a thicker diameter and longer travel than the Fox 34 Float AWL fork on the latter. It can handle more intense downhill riding.

As for the drivetrain, both bicycles have Shimano mixed components with similar performance. They operate smoothly and have excellent transmission efficiency.

In the braking department, the Orbea RISE H15 20mph with Shimano M6100 brakes provides a smoother braking experience. It feels more comfortable than the Magura MT C ABS brakes on the latter.

In conclusion, between these two bicycles, with a similar price difference, I prefer the Orbea RISE H15 20mph with its longer suspension travel. It allows me to engage in more intense downhill riding.
