Riding Experience

Mason Definition Red AXS

Commuter Riding

My commute route takes me from the suburbs of Washington to the city center, which is a long journey. However, when riding the Mason Definition Red AXS, I don’t feel particularly tired, thanks to its Fizik Tempo Argo R3 saddle.

It’s a saddle designed for endurance riding, featuring a carbon-reinforced nylon shell that meets cycling requirements. Its wide sit bone support provides excellent support for my hips, and even during long rides, my posture doesn’t become stiff.

Moreover, the Argo enhances my stability and, combined with its ergonomically designed cutout, alleviates pressure on sensitive areas. No matter how long I sit on this seat, I don’t feel discomfort.

Suburbs → Downtown

Mason Definition Red AXS

From the suburbs to the city center, road conditions constantly change. However, the Schwalbe G-One tires are not limited by these conditions.

Whether it’s gravel roads, dirt paths in the suburbs, or asphalt roads in the city, I can ride freely and smoothly. Even during rainy commutes, they offer reliable grip, and the tires won’t slip.

When cornering, with its 72° head tube angle, I have excellent maneuverability. I control the DEDA Superzero Carbon handlebar and, with my extensive cycling experience, tilt the entire bike for turns.

The Schwalbe G-One tires provide strong friction, allowing me to breeze through every corner with ease. That’s the confidence the Mason Definition Red AXS gives me.

Fitness

I chose the XL size of the bike based on my body measurements. It has a 1.5 Stack/Reach Ratio, providing me with a comfortable riding experience. Additionally, the bike has two bottle cages, allowing me to stay hydrated during long workouts.

Furthermore, the bike features the Orbit chain management system, reducing the noise generated during cycling. I don’t get annoyed while riding; instead, I stay focused on my goals.

During long rides, on other bikes, my hands might become numb. However, that’s not the case with the DEDA Superzero Carbon handlebar. It is lightweight and sturdy, providing an ergonomically designed grip for any riding style. I can hold onto it without feeling fatigued.

The Mason Definition Red AXS is an exceptional endurance bike. It features a Dedacciai custom-formed, triple-butted performance Aluminium frame, which is lightweight and sturdy. Additionally, it comes with a carbon fork that provides flexibility and good shock absorption.

Mason Definition Ultegra Di2

2023 Mason Definition Ultegra Di2

Both bikes have identical geometry. The Mason Definition Ultegra Di2 has an aluminum frame, 700c aluminum wheels, and a carbon fork. Additionally, they both have hydraulic disc brakes.

The main difference lies in the components. The Definition Ultegra Di2 features a 1×12 electronic drivetrain, while the Definition Red AXS is equipped with a 2×12 electronic drivetrain. The single front derailleur design effectively prevents chain drops.

Furthermore, the Definition Red AXS is nearly $2300 more expensive than the Definition Ultegra Di2. So if budget is a concern, I would recommend the Mason Definition Ultegra Di2. If you prefer the single front derailleur design, the Mason Definition Red AXS would be the better choice.
