Marin advertises the Marin Mount Vision 9 as a very good full-suspension enduro bike that performs very well in enduro races, so is that the case? To that end, I found this Marin Mount Vision 9 and then put it to a thorough test.

To better test this entirely shocked enduro bike, I bought a plane ticket, booked a hotel in Skyscanner, and participated in the Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB. The climbing distance was about 5,200m, with half of it on forest fire roads and half on singletrack, with about 6-7 miles of paved roads, which were in average condition and had a lot of gradients, which might cause some trouble for me.
At 9 am, along with the higher temperature and the enthusiastic atmosphere of the spectators, I started my race. Soon after I came across the first uphill, I stood up and used the dropper to lower the seat slightly to avoid hitting the seat when I accelerated up the hill. In addition, thanks to the excellent SRAM X01 Eagle,12-Speed derailleur of the Marin Mount Vision 9, I adjusted the gear ratio to the minimum to get the maximum power on the uphill with the least physical effort, easily and smoothly.
Then it was a bumpy downhill, but I still managed to ride smoothly thanks to its 150mm rear travel and 150mm front travel, which helped me reduce a lot of vibration, and the Marin Locking that kept my hands gripped on the Deity Skyline to avoid disengagement on high-speed descents. Also, the road downhill is very twisty. The bike has a 75.5° head tube angle, so I can change direction very nimbly, and the Shimano XT 4 Piston helps me slow down in time to avoid accidents.
Is That All?
The WTB Trail Boss tread uses TriTec compound, a blend of three different rubber compounds that provide excellent traction, support, and durability. The high hardness of the rubber allows the entire tread pattern to provide solid friction, giving the whole tire more grip. I had no fear of wheel slipping on wet roads in the woods. And on the loose sandy roads of the single track, the tire also provided very strong traction so that I could ride very fast on the various surfaces of the track.
In addition, the bike has an aggressive stack/reach ratio of 1.36, which may cause a little discomfort on long rides. Still, the soft, versatile WTB Volt Race saddle is very comfortable on my hips. The soft nature of its microfiber cover fully supports my sit bones, which most surprisingly does not affect its flexibility. And the KS LEV Integra Dropper Post has a precision dust seal. Its keyway system allows for gapless seat adjustment, making it perfect for trail riding.
Marin Mount Vision 9 is a very good full shock enduro bike. It has an amazing Full Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Frame and is very lightweight, which can improve the riding speed. It is also equipped with Fox Performance Elite fork, 150mm travel can provide very good shock absorption.
In addition, the WTB Trail Boss 27.5×2.6″ offers puncture protection with SG2, a lightweight nylon ply that improves sidewall stability and overall tire support and reduces the amount of rubber needed to fill between the fibers, which reduces weight and improves flexibility.
After many tests, we know this bike much better, and it is a perfect hardtail trail bike.
However, many riders have their own requirements for its performance or components, so we found the same type of bike for further investigation.
Marin Mount Vision 8
The Marin Mount Vision 8 is a fantastic good bike. It has a carbon frame and is lightweight. RockShox Pike RC fork provides crazy shock absorption, and 1×12 speed shifting allows riders to find the right speed in different road conditions. In case of emergency, Shimano MT520 4-Piston Hydraulic Disc also has a strong braking ability, which can effectively protect the rider’s safety.
In short, there is little difference between the two bikes, and riders can buy the right bike for their needs.
What do we like about it?
- The cool look makes people very excited and eager to ride as soon as they see it.
- The soft nature of the very soft microfiber cover fully supports the sit bones and makes the rider very comfortable.
- SG2 puncture protection prevents flat tires and increases rider safety.

Marin Mount Vision 9 VS Giant Reign 2
The Giant Reign 2 has an aluminum frame. While the Marin Mount Vision 9 carbon frame is prone to breakage in the face of a side impact, the aluminum frame is a bit stronger. Still, the carbon frame brings lighter weight and faster speed, giving it some advantage in endurance racing.
In addition, Marin Mount Vision 9 has 150mm front travel and 150mm rear travel. Still, Giant Reign 2 has 170mm front and 160mm rear travel, so the damping effect is more excellent. So if you want a fantastic damping effect, Giant Reign 2 is more suitable for you. And also, if you want a perfect damping bike, Giant Reign 2 is ideal. Marin Mount Vision 9 will be your best choice if you want a lighter bike frame.
Marin Mount Vision 9 VS Rocky Mountain Altitude Alloy 30
The Rocky Mountain Altitude Alloy Altitude Alloy 30 is available in two wheel sizes. The 27.5″ wheel is very agile, while the 29″ wheel is passable and can give riders more options. In addition, the aluminum frame of the Rocky Mountain Altitude Alloy Altitude Alloy 30 provides better sturdiness but brings the problem of a heavier body.
And the Rocky Mountain Altitude Alloy Altitude Alloy 30 has better shock absorption than the Marin Mount Vision 9, but the tires on the Marin Mount Vision 9 are 2.6″ wider than the Rocky Mountain Altitude Alloy The Altitude Alloy 30’s 2.5″ and 2.4″ front and rear tires are more expansive and can adapt to more surfaces.
So, if you want to adapt to more surfaces, I recommend the Marin Mount Vision 9. If you wish to have more wheel size options, the Rocky Mountain Altitude Alloy Altitude Alloy 30 will meet your needs.
Marin Mount Vision 9 VS Transition Sentinel Alloy NX
The Transition Sentinel Alloy NX is an excellent bike with a sturdy aluminum frame, passable 29″ wheels, 160mm front travel for better shock absorption, and a 1.33 stack/reach ratio to help riders ride more comfortably.
But the Marin Mount Vision 9 has a more significant 65° head tube angle for nimble handling and very agile changes of direction, and the carbon frame makes this bike lighter in weight and faster to ride. In addition, the 728’s standover height helps the rider to stand still in time to avoid accidents when braking.
In short, if you want a more flexible bike in disguise, the Marin Mount Vision 9 will be your better choice. The Transition Sentinel Alloy NX is more suitable for you if you want a comfortable ride.
Marin Mount Vision 9 VS Canyon Torque 27.5 CF 7
The cars are similar: carbon frames, 27.5-inch aluminum wheels, 1×12-speed drivetrains, and dropper seatpost.
However, the Canyon Torque 27.5 CF 7 has 180mm front and 175mm rear travel, so the damping effect is relatively good.
In addition, the Canyon Torque 27.5 CF 7 has a slightly smaller Stack/Reach Ratio than the Marin Mount Vision 9, with a little more aggressive geometry. The rider will be more comfortable on the Marin Mount Vision 9, so I recommend the Marin. I recommend the Marin Mount Vision 9 if you want a more comfortable position. The Canyon Torque 27.5 CF 7 will be your choice if you want better damping.
