Rating: (4.8/5)
The Liv team has always followed their unique 3F design philosophy, and they have designed the Liv Avail Advanced 2 with the specific needs of female riders in mind. I believe this bike can be the top choice for women looking to purchase a bicycle.
Without a doubt, the Liv Avail Advanced 2 is an exceptional endurance bike. It features a frame and fork made of carbon, significantly reducing the weight of the bike and minimizing friction resistance during long rides.
Next, we will analyze the riding experience, key features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Liv Avail Advanced 2. In the second half of this article, we will also compare it to several other top bike models. If you want to learn more about bike reviews, feel free to follow us.
Riding Experience
Endurance Riding
I chose to conduct an endurance test on a long road in New York. Another thing that needs to be prepared in advance is booking accommodation. This time, I still booked accommodation on Skyscanner, hoping for a good rest. Throughout the test, I experienced how unique the design of this bike is for endurance riding.
During long rides, the saddle is the first aspect I pay attention to. The Liv Approach saddle reduces the pressure on my hips, significantly reducing the burden during my rides.
Additionally, the D-Fuse seatpost with shock absorption helps me minimize vibrations caused by uneven terrain. This, in turn, reduces fatigue, allowing me to better distribute my energy.
When climbing uphill, the Shimano 105 ST-7025 shifters with a 2×11 drivetrain provide smooth gear shifts, making climbing more seamless. Compared to similar bikes, the Liv Avail Advanced 2 requires less energy during uphill climbs.
During downhill descents, I must have good control of the handlebars due to higher speeds. Surprisingly, the Liv Contact SL D-Fuse handlebars are very stable. Additionally, the Liv All Condition grips provide excellent traction, allowing me to maintain a stable grip while riding forward.
Furthermore, I encountered some emergencies during the ride. However, I was able to stop the bike smoothly and prevent accidents thanks to the outstanding Shimano 105 hydraulic brakes.
Overall, during the entire endurance riding test, I consider this bike to be exceptional.
Daily Riding
Although it is an endurance bike, the Liv Avail Advanced 2 is also capable of meeting the demands of everyday riding.
Whether it’s commuting or weekend outings, this bike provides me with a good experience. The 700x32c tubeless tires offer stability and excellent grip, adapting well to different road surfaces. If you want to switch to larger tires, this bike supports it. Its tire compatibility is excellent.
At the same time, this bike comes in sizes from XXS to LG, with a top tube length ranging from 500mm to 555mm. I have good flexibility and can maintain a comfortable posture throughout the ride. I have to admit that the experience far surpasses the crowded bus rides I used to endure.
In summary, I can feel the bike’s strong adaptability to different road surfaces during everyday riding. The bike’s fit to my body size is also excellent. I am highly satisfied with the Liv Avail Advanced 2.
Specification
The Liv Avail Advanced 2 is both lightweight and comfortable, making it an ideal choice for both solo rides and group outings.
As an endurance bike, it features an impressive endurance geometry design. The frame, constructed with Advanced-Grade Composite, showcases outstanding lightweight characteristics and a special carbon fiber layup designed to meet the needs of women.
In terms of the overall structure, the D-Fuse seatpost reduces vibrations during rides, while the disc brakes provide riders with confident control. The OverDrive steerer tube increases front-end stiffness and offers precise steering, while the PowerCode bottom bracket supports high pedaling efficiency.
Moreover, the Giant SLR-2 36 carbon fiber wheelset weighs approximately 1535 grams (per pair), providing a balance between stiffness and lighter weight. The Shimano Ultegra 2×11 drivetrain offers riders more freedom during rides.
Additionally, the bike comes with a tubeless setup from the factory, and the 700x32mm tires are compatible with RGX 35 fenders (sold separately), offering you the best riding experience.

Other Versions
After multiple tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It is an excellent choice for daily commuting.
However, many riders have their requirements regarding performance or components, so we conducted further investigations into similar bikes.
Liv Avail Advanced 3
Both bikes have the same overall frame but still have some differences. The Advanced 3 uses the Tigra FSA groupset, while the Advanced 2 uses Shimano 105.
The former features a 2×11 drivetrain, while the latter uses a 2×10 drivetrain. As a result, the Advanced 2 offers a slightly larger range of gear options.
However, it’s important to consider the price difference of nearly $400 between the two when making a purchase decision. If you prefer the Tigra FSA groupset, then the Liv Avail Advanced 3 is the better choice. If you prefer Shimano 105, then the Liv Avail Advanced 2 will be more suitable for you.

Liv Avail Advanced 2 vs Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4
The Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4 is a solid and budget-friendly endurance bike. It performs impressively on the road, providing a comfortable and smooth ride.
The 38mm tire clearance allows for more stability during turns. Additionally, the smaller head tube angle, longer wheelbase, and higher bottom bracket height contribute to a stable ride on rough roads.
However, this bike also has some drawbacks, such as crankset deviation, a squeaky-feeling saddle, and thin handlebar tape. These factors can cause some discomfort during the ride. The front cable routing may take some time to get used to, and the adjustability of the seatpost is somewhat limited, which may not suit all body types.
On the other hand, the Liv Avail Advanced 2 weighs slightly more than the Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4. This results in slightly less friction resistance during the ride, making it more efficient.
It’s worth noting that the price of the Trek Domane SL 5 Gen 4 is nearly $600 higher than the Liv Avail Advanced 2. This bike is more suitable for riders with a more generous budget. If you’re looking for a lighter bike with a lower budget, the Liv Avail Advanced 2 would be an excellent choice.

Liv Avail Advanced 2 vs Giant Defy Advanced 1
These two bikes are extremely similar in terms of the overall frame, with the difference being that the Liv Avail Advanced 2 is equipped with a 2×11 drivetrain, while the Giant Defy Advanced 1 has a 2×12 electronic drivetrain. The gear range of the former is relatively smaller compared to the latter.
However, the Liv Avail Advanced 2 offers two color options for its frame, while the Giant Defy Advanced 1 has only one. This gives you more choices when purchasing the Liv Avail Advanced 2.
Additionally, the Shimano Ultegra groupset is more refined and durable compared to the Shimano 105. Although the Shimano Ultegra groupset uses lighter materials, the overall weight difference is not significant. Furthermore, both groupsets can be used similarly.
The reach of the Giant Defy Advanced 1 is slightly longer than that of the Liv Avail Advanced 2, providing better extension and a more comfortable riding position.
In fact, given the similar nature of these two bikes, if you prioritize a more comfortable ride, the Giant Defy Advanced 1 would be a good choice. However, if you want more color options, then the Liv Avail Advanced 2 would be more suitable for you.

Liv Avail Advanced 2 vs Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc
In comparing these two bikes, I found that they are extremely similar. The Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc offers the option of 650c or 700c wheels, while the Liv Avail Advanced 2 is only available with 700C wheels. Both bikes demonstrate excellent climbing abilities.
Both bikes come in two color options. The Liv Avail Advanced 2 offers Fanatic Teal and Twilight Mauve, while the Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc comes in Stealth and True Red.
The Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc provides excellent steering stability and delivers a comfortable riding experience. This comfort is not achieved by sacrificing stiffness. Additionally, the Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc has a more stylish appearance.
However, the Canyon Endurace CF 7 Disc has the drawback of relatively heavy wheelsets and non-tubeless tires. Additionally, the seat lacks adjustability. These factors may not provide the same level of ease and stability experienced with the Liv Avail Advanced 2.
Both bikes have their unique features and strengths. When making your actual choice, if you prefer agile steering and a stylish appearance, then the latter would be more suitable for you. If you prioritize a relaxed and stable riding experience, I would recommend the Liv Avail Advanced 2 as a better choice.

Liv Avail Advanced 2 vs Cannondale Synapse Carbon 4
Both of these bikes feature a carbon frame and carbon fork. Additionally, their wheels are made of aluminum. They both have 700C wheel size and 35C tire clearance, and both are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes.
The difference lies in the drivetrain components used. The Liv Avail Advanced 2 uses Shimano 105, while the Cannondale Synapse Carbon 4 uses Tiagra. There is a notable difference between these two components.
Shimano 105 is an 11-speed groupset, while Tiagra is a 10-speed groupset. Both drivetrains have shifters made of glass fiber-reinforced plastic, but the Shimano 105 has a slightly faster shifting.
In terms of brakes, Shimano 105 is slightly heavier than Tiagra, but it is designed based on Ultegra and Dura-Ace SLR-EV Dual Pivot. It features a symmetrical design that provides better control and braking performance. The chainring of Shimano 105 is lighter than Tiagra due to its reduced length of 160mm. The 2×11 drivetrain of Shimano 105 offers more versatility compared to the 2×10 drivetrain of Tiagra.
Considering the better components of the Liv Avail Advanced 2, I personally highly recommend the Liv Avail Advanced 2.
