Riding Experience

As an outstanding hybrid electric bike, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 is suitable for both commuting and leisure rides, especially for women. So we tested this bike for these purposes.

Commuter Riding

In the morning, accompanied by the gentle May sunlight, I hopped on the Liv Amiti E+ 2 and rode through the streets of Los Angeles.

The EnergyPak Smart 500Wh or EnergyPak Plus powered by the Yamaha 250W 60Nm mid-drive motor gave me powerful assistance, and I felt like flying.

When riding among crowded people, the 69.5° head tube angle made it easier to change direction and avoid collisions with other vehicles.

Then, I flexibly controlled the Shimano Alivio gears, shifting to lower gears to reduce speed. This was also to prevent any unexpected situations.

When I noticed someone wanting to cross in front of me, the hydraulic disc brakes played a crucial role. I promptly stopped the bike, let the person pass, and then continued riding.

Upon reaching the office, I didn’t have to worry about charging at all. This bike can cover a distance of 120 km on a single charge under normal conditions, which is more than enough for my daily round trips.

After finishing a day of work, it was already evening as I rode through a poorly lit essential route. However, I had no worries at all. It has a fantastic Axa BlueLine 30Lux Steady E6 front light that illuminates the path ahead.

The Axa BlueLine Steady E6 rear light ensures that vehicles behind me can spot me. This design ensures both my safety and the safety of others.

I must admit that this bike fulfills my commuting needs perfectly. I enjoy riding the Liv Amiti E+ 2 to work every day.

Recreational Riding

On my weekly day off, I always venture to the outskirts to enjoy the natural scenery. This time, I rode the Liv Amiti E+ 2 to the outskirts of Los Angeles.

The rear rack of the Liv Amiti E+ 2 can carry a considerable amount of luggage, and the 60Nm torque gives the bike excellent load capacity. I can bring essentials like water, which eliminates any worries we might have.

Moreover, the roads in the outskirts of Los Angeles are not as smooth as the streets. Thanks to the 75mm front travel of the Liv Amiti E+ 2, it effectively absorbs shocks.

Additionally, the Liv Comfort Ergo Microtech Plus grips help me maintain a firm hold on the Giant Connect Riser, preventing my hands from slipping during vibrations.

Furthermore, the ride from the city to the outskirts is always quite long, but I never feel numb from sitting in the saddle for too long. The Liv Sport Comfort Saddle keeps my buttocks comfortable throughout the ride.

All in all, this is an outstanding hybrid electric bike, and I am deeply captivated by it.

Specification

The Liv Amiti E+ 2 is an excellent hybrid electric bike. As an e-bike, its standout feature is the EnergyPak battery.

This battery offers an impressive range of 150km to 200km on a single charge. Its SyncDrive Life motor features six speed-control settings and can provide a maximum pedal assist of 350%.

Moreover, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 features a sturdy, lightweight, and durable ALUXX SL aluminum frame. Considering the unique needs and body sizes of women, the EnergyPak battery is perfectly integrated into the frame.

The Amiti E+ rear dropout makes it easier for riders to add accessories. The bike is equipped with fenders and integrated lights on the head tube, ensuring a comfortable commute in both rainy and nighttime conditions.

Additionally, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 makes good use of ergonomics with its RideControl handlebar, making it easier for riders to utilize smart assistance technology.

The design of the suspension fork and the suitability of the Giant Crosscut Gravel 2 tires for all-terrain riding provide a more comfortable experience for riders.

It is worth mentioning that this bike is currently on sale for only $2900. For an electric bike, this is a reasonably priced option with excellent value for money.

Other Versions

After conducting numerous tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It is an outstanding bike for daily commuting.

However, many riders have their own performance requirements or specific component preferences. So, we found similar bikes to further investigate.

Liv Amiti E+ 1

These two bikes have very similar overall frames, both featuring ALUXX aluminum frames and SR Suntour NEX E25 NLO 75mm travel 15AH forks.

Additionally, the handlebars, grips, and seats are all made of the same materials.

However, in terms of the motor, the Liv Amiti E+ 1 has a torque of 70Nm, allowing it to carry more weight compared to the Liv Amiti E+ 2, which has a torque of 60Nm.

The Liv Amiti E+ 1 is equipped with a 2×10 Shimano Deore derailleur, which is heavier than the 1×9 Shimano Alivio derailleur of the former.

However, the gear range and smoothness are superior to the latter, allowing for higher speeds on flat roads and downhill sections with larger gear ratios.

Additionally, the Liv Amiti E+ 1 has a higher-capacity battery, reaching 625Wh, while the Liv Amiti E+ 2 has only 500Wh. With higher output power, the Liv Amiti E+ 1 can achieve faster riding speeds.

In summary, if you want faster riding speeds, choose the Liv Amiti E+ 1. If you prefer a lighter weight, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 would be more suitable for you.

Liv Amiti E+ 2 vs Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0

Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0
Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0

The Liv Amiti E+ 2 is equipped with 700C wheels, which provide better traction and a more comfortable ride compared to the 650B wheels of the Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0.

However, the Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 offers better maneuverability than the Liv Amiti E+ 2. Additionally, the Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0’s 80mm front travel provides better suspension performance than the Liv Amiti E+ 2’s 75mm front travel.

Although both bikes have 250W motors, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 has a torque of 60Nm, while the Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 has a torque of 50Nm.

With the same power output, a higher torque allows for a more robust power delivery system, enabling the 250W power to be sustained for longer periods.

In conclusion, if you prefer agile riding, the Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 would be a better choice for you. However, if you prioritize better suspension performance and the ability to carry more weight on the bike, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 would be the better option.

Liv Amiti E+ 2 vs Yamaha Cross CoreRC

Yamaha Cross CoreRC
Yamaha Cross CoreRC

These two bikes have very similar frame materials, but the former with 700C wheels has better traction compared to the latter with 650B wheels.

However, the latter’s 70Nm torque drives a heavier weight than the former. However, both bikes have the same battery power.

Additionally, the Yamaha Cross CoreRC features a Shimano Sora (2 x 9) Braze-on Front Derailleur. It weighs more than the Liv Amiti E+ 2, which does not have a front derailleur, but it offers a wider range of gears.

Therefore, if you prefer a wider gear range, I would recommend the Yamaha Cross CoreRC. If you prioritize stable riding, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 would be more suitable for you.

Liv Amiti E+ 2 vs Cannondale Adventure Neo 1 EQ

Cannondale Adventure Neo 1 EQ
Cannondale Adventure Neo 1 EQ

The Cannondale Adventure Neo 1 EQ features Kwick Seven.5 tires that have a versatile tread pattern, allowing for efficient riding on city streets.

Additionally, the Kwick Seven.5 tires have reflective sidewalls, which improve the bike’s visibility and puncture protection, ensuring safer rides.

On the other hand, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 is equipped with Giant Crosscut Gravel 2 tires that are Tubeless Ready, enabling lower tire pressure for increased comfort and reduced puncture risks.

The tire compound is optimized for quick riding on roads, gravel, and dirt paths. Furthermore, the supple 60TPI casing helps riders maintain better control over the entire bike.

Therefore, if you frequently ride at night, the Cannondale Adventure Neo 1 EQ with its reflective sidewalls will effectively enhance your safety. If you desire versatility across different road surfaces, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 would be more suitable for you.

Liv Amiti E+ 2 vs Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5″ Wave

Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5" Wave
Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5″ Wave

The Shimano Alivio components equipped on the Liv Amiti E+ 2 are more suitable for beginners, while experienced riders may prefer the Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5″ Wave with Shimano Deore components.

This is because the latter is currently more popular and has certain advantages. It features a versatile 1×10 gear system. Compared to the Liv Amiti E+ 2’s 1×9 gear system, the shifting is smoother, the range is wider, and it effectively prevents chain drops.

The stack/reach ratio of the Liv Amiti E+ 2 is slightly larger than that of the Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5″ Wave, allowing for a more upright and comfortable riding position.

Additionally, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 has a head tube angle of 69.5°, which is greater than the 68° of the Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5″ Wave, resulting in smoother direction changes while riding.

Therefore, if you are a beginner or ride shorter distances daily, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 would be more suitable for you. If you desire a larger gear range and a smoother shifting experience, I would recommend the Bulls Copperhead EVO 2 Street 27.5″ Wave.
