Riding Experience
As an overweight and physically unfit male, I never imagined I would be able to experience the thrill of mountain biking. However, my life changed when I purchased an electric-assist aluminum endurance mountain bike.
This bike allows me to explore the city and conquer hilly terrains on weekends, and I want to share my authentic cycling story with you.
Let’s start with the downsides of this bike. The battery capacity is indeed relatively small, which means its range is not particularly high.
However, you can purchase an extra battery for around $550, as I did, and swap it while riding. Additionally, there’s a backpack available for carrying the spare battery.
City Commuting
Commuting in the city can be a hassle. I used to spend hours stuck in traffic, listening to the radio, wishing I were somewhere else. However, ever since I started riding my electric-assist endurance bike, my commute has become enjoyable.
I live in San Francisco, and my office is located in the financial district, which means I have to navigate through several hills and traffic.
Seriously, I was a bit nervous on my first bike commute. I had never ridden an electric-assist bike before, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, as soon as I started pedaling, I realized that this bike was a game-changer.
The electric-assist system allowed me to effortlessly conquer steep hills, and I could easily navigate through traffic.
One of my favorite parts of the commute is riding through Golden Gate Park. The park is a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city and a perfect place for biking. The terrain is mostly flat with some rolling hills, and there are plenty of paths and trails to explore.
Weekend Hill Climbing
On weekends, I enjoy riding my electric enduro bike up into the mountains to explore some local gems. One of my favorite places to ride is China Camp State Park, located in the northern part of San Francisco.

The park features a mix of fire roads and singletrack trails, and the terrain can be steep and technical at times.

The trail can be steep and technical at times, but with the electric assist, I can even tackle the toughest sections.
Overall, my electric-assist endurance bike has opened up a whole new world of riding for me. I never thought I would be able to handle the hills and trails of the Bay Area, but with this bike, I can explore new places and push my limits.
