The Giant Contend family is aimed at comfortable, versatile road riding; “endurance” or “all-road” describes it better than “enduro.” For the current U.S. Contend AR range checked August 25, 2026, the clearest choice is between the better-equipped Contend AR 1 and the lower-priced Contend AR 3.
What is current for 2026?
Giant’s U.S. Contend AR collection lists two current models: the Contend AR 1 at $2,200 and the Contend AR 3 at $1,450 on the date checked. Prices, stock and specifications can change, so confirm the selected size and final price with the retailer.
Both use an ALUXX-grade aluminum frame, an Advanced-grade composite fork, 12mm thru-axles, disc-brake mounts and clearance stated at up to 38mm. Giant also lists six sizes from XS through XL. Main tradeoffs
The Contend AR is not a suspension bike, and 38mm maximum clearance places a limit on very rough or muddy routes. The AR 3’s mechanical discs require more cable adjustment and hand force than the AR 1’s hydraulic system. The AR 1 costs substantially more, so its component advantages matter most to riders who will use them frequently.
