Riding Experience
The Orbea OIZ M-TEAM has longer, lower, and slacker geometry than other comparable full-suspension bikes. This design gives the bike a greater ability to descend.
To test it out, I took the Orbea OIZ M-TEAM to Windrock Park in Tennessee and booked a nearby hotel in advance using IHG. The park offers a range of difficulty levels, from gravel roads to extremely rugged mountain terrain. I must admit, it’s a great place for riding.
Climbing
Thanks to its ultra-lightweight and excellent suspension design, the Orbea OIZ M-TEAM makes climbing feel easier. It performs just as well as some hardtail mountain bikes.
The Orbea OIZ M-TEAM features Shimano XTR M9100 drivetrain components with a 34T chainring and a 10-51t freewheel. Combined with its excellent pedaling efficiency, it gives me the confidence to tackle steep slopes.
I locked the front and rear suspension and maintained a relatively steep seat angle to maintain good balance and deliver more direct power with each pedal stroke.
Lastly, the Maxxis Rekon Race 2.40″ WT 120 TPI Exo TLR tires provide excellent traction, allowing my pedaling effort to be transformed into upward momentum more effectively.
In summary, this is a full-suspension mountain bike that performs as well as some hardtail bikes during climbs. It has been instrumental in assisting me during my climbing rides.
Descending
Although the Orbea OIZ M-TEAM excels in climbing, it also has impressive descending capabilities.
The Fox 34 Float SC Factory fork and Fox i-line DPS Factory rear shock provide 120mm of front and rear travel, giving me a stable and powerful riding experience during descents.
On rough terrain, the strong tension provided by the Shimano XTR M9100 rear derailleur ensures that I have no worries about chain drops during descents.
In terms of geometry, Orbea has lengthened the front end and slackened the head angle, combined with 29-inch wheels, making the bike longer and more stable during descents.
When entering winding trails that require frequent braking, the Shimano XTR M9100 hydraulic brakes offer a light and responsive feel. With just one finger, I can achieve perfect braking control.
Overall, the Orbea OIZ M-TEAM is a powerful full-suspension mountain bike. Its climbing and descending capabilities are among the best in its category.
