Rating: (4.7/5)
Nowadays, electric bikes are widely accepted, but can they perform exceptionally well in places like forest trails and off-road routes?
To explore this, we discovered the Liv Embolden E+ 2, and we have high expectations for its performance in natural environments such as forest trails.
In the following sections, we will analyze the riding experience, main features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Liv Embolden E+ 2.
In the latter part of this article, we will also compare it to several other top bike models. If you’re interested in learning more about bike reviews, feel free to follow us.
Riding Experience
As an excellent full-suspension electric bike designed for forest trails, I’m particularly interested in how the Liv Embolden E+ 2 performs on such terrain. So, our team purchased plane tickets and booked a hotel through Skyscanner to visit the Innerleithen Trails.
We chose the Forest Road at Innerleithen Trails, which is a 2.2km route. Overall, the trail is downhill, but it also includes some uphill sections that are winding and have moist soil.
There are also plenty of gravel and dry tree branches, which present obstacles during the ride.
Trail Riding
During the ride on the forest road, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 impressed me with its SyncDrive Sport motor equipped with intelligent assistance technology. Thanks to sonically tuned technology, I experienced its smooth and quiet performance.
For riders with less experience, the intelligent assistance technology accurately calculates torque, cadence, slope, and speed to help them determine the necessary motor output power.
As an experienced rider, I felt more confident in controlling the bike and navigating the entire trail with the support of this technology. I was even willing to challenge many riding maneuvers.
However, some parts of this route are used by Adrenalin Uplift buses to transport passengers uphill, so I remained aware of my surroundings while riding.
When I spotted the bus, the Tektro HD-M745 Orion hydraulic disc brakes performed exceptionally well. With 4 pistons, they provided powerful and controllable braking, allowing me to promptly stop the bike and avoid any accidents.
On the uphill sections of the route, I adjusted the gears to the lowest ratio, using less battery output to gain more power.
Additionally, the Liv Sylvia E+ saddle has padded edges, a flexible seat post, and a smooth surface. This allowed my buttocks to experience minimal compression on uneven surfaces.
Furthermore, the saddle nose offers a slight downward tilt, enabling me to lean forward and shift my weight during aggressive climbs, preventing any accidents.
Is that all?
When riding downhill on other bikes, I often worry about losing grip due to high-frequency and high-intensity vibrations. However, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 provides a different experience, allowing me to maintain a firm grip on the handlebars.
This is made possible by the large raised area on the Liv Contact Microtech Plus grips, which provides excellent shock absorption.
The Giant Connect TR Riser handlebar is both sturdy and reasonably priced. It has a width of 780mm, but it can be easily shortened if desired.
Moreover, it utilizes lightweight 2014 alloy, which has been fine-tuned and optimized by the Liv team to effectively reduce vibrations.
I must say, this bike has captivated me deeply.
Specification
The Liv Embolden E+ 2 is an exceptional full-suspension electric bike designed for forest trails. Its most notable feature is the EnergyPak Smart 500Wh battery, providing a maximum range of 110km to 180km.
Additionally, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 features a sturdy, lightweight, and durable ALUXX aluminum frame. Considering the special needs and physique of women, the suspension of this bike reduces the difficulty of operation, making it more convenient for female riders.
Moreover, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 is equipped with the Liv Sylvia E+ saddle, designed to maximize ergonomic comfort.
It has been tested by professional Liv racing cyclists to ensure riders can find the most suitable position in various conditions. This saddle enhances the overall comfort of the ride.

Other Versions
After undergoing numerous tests, our understanding of this bike has deepened. It is an outstanding hardtail mountain bike.
However, many riders have their requirements for performance or components. Therefore, we have found bikes of the same type to conduct further investigation.
Liv Embolden E+ 1
The overall frame of both bikes is very similar, featuring aluminum frames and wheels. Both bikes also offer two choices of wheel sizes. The handlebars, grips, and seats are made of the same materials.
In terms of the motor, both bikes have a torque of 70Nm. However, the Liv Embolden E+ 1 comes with a high-capacity 625Wh battery, while the Liv Amiti E+ 2 has a battery capacity of only 500Wh. The former has more power, resulting in a longer range but also a slightly heavier weight.
In other words, if you want to ride longer distances, choose the Liv Embolden E+ 1. If you prefer a lighter weight, the Liv Amiti E+ 2 is a better choice.

Liv Embolden E+ 2 vs Orbea RISE H30 20mph
The Orbea RISE H30 20mph features 140mm of rear travel and 140mm of front travel. Compared to the Liv Embolden E+ 2 with 120mm of rear travel and 130mm of front travel, it offers better suspension performance and reduces vibrations for a more comfortable ride.
Additionally, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 comes in two wheel sizes, 27.5″ and 29″, providing more options for riders. However, the Orbea RISE H30 20mph has a smoother 1×12 drivetrain, which offers a wider gear range compared to the Liv Embolden E+ 2’s 1×10 drivetrain.
In summary, if you prioritize a comfortable ride, the Orbea RISE H30 20mph would be a better choice. But if you value superior suspension performance and a smoother, wider-ranging drivetrain, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 would be a better fit for you.
Liv Embolden E+ 2 vs Scott Contessa Strike eRIDE 930
The Scott Contessa Strike eRIDE 930 is equipped with a dropper seatpost. This feature allows you to lower the seat height during downhill rides, significantly improving maneuverability.
Especially for a full-suspension mountain bike like this, it enhances the rider’s confidence.
Furthermore, the Scott Contessa Strike eRIDE 930 with its 1×12 drivetrain offers a wider gear range compared to the Liv Embolden E+ 2. This design helps save space in the drivetrain but requires higher material demands.
However, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 comes with Aluminum Platform Pedals included with the purchase. So if you’re looking for a more complete package, I would recommend the Liv Embolden E+ 2.
If you prioritize a comfortable and stable ride, the Scott Contessa Strike eRIDE 930 would be more suitable for you.
Liv Embolden E+ 2 vs Norco Fluid VLT A2
Both bikes are equipped with a 250W motor. However, the Norco Fluid VLT A2 has a torque of 85Nm, while the former has 70Nm. For the same output, higher torque means a more robust power system. It can carry more weight and provide a longer duration of 250W output.
Moreover, the Norco Fluid VLT A2 has a 900Wh battery, which offers more power compared to the 500Wh of the Liv Embolden E+ 2. While it allows for a longer distance range, the larger battery capacity also adds to the overall weight.
So if you prefer a lighter weight, the Liv Embolden E+ 2 will suit you. If you want to carry more weight, the Liv Norco Fluid VLT A2 would be more suitable for you.
