The 2023 CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 electric hardtail bike reinterprets trail riding. We can experience easier, faster, and more exciting mountain adventures with the power of the motor. CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 Descending
My hometown is a beautiful town where there are only wide, deep mountains and forests. I would often come together with my friends for a race against time to see if the sun would disappear over the horizon first or if we would go down first. Such a journey is interesting and different and fresh every time.
If a hardtail trail bike doesn’t let me chase the sunset in the sky with abandon, I won’t fall in love with it. But the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 made me fall in love. Obviously, its excellent descending performance is impeccable.
During this review, I rode the CUBE REACTION through the rugged descending trails. Besides, the 120mm X-Fusion MIG32 Air shock fork was agile and rebounding on the descents, making it possible for the falling branches and debris to not affect my speed at all. So I felt that they were as soft as dough in front of the CUBE REACTION and not as hard as they used to be.
Of course, I know there’s also the 2.6-inch Schwalbe tire to thank for that. Certainly, the puncture protection on its surface with the large and small raised tread pattern presses right through everything, reflecting the great grip.
Not only that, but the Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX motor provided me with strong, long-lasting power during the chase, improving my pedaling efficiency. And this, at the same time, also reduced my physical exertion burden. It’s super good for me.
As a result, I can have more focus on directional handling. Besides, the steep 68° head tube angle of the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625 prepares me for just the right amount of nimble steering. Also, with the agile and precise Shimano BR-MT200 hydraulic disc braking system, gives me more confidence in handling.
All thanks to the almost perfect performance of the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625, I could always see the sun slowly disappearing at the end of the road after descending the hill.
CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 Climbing
When it comes to electric hardtail off-road, it will not only have a faster speed when descending, but it will also help us achieve easier climbing when climbing. But, it also tends to be a little slower because of the very heavy body.
At first, I had such concerns about the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625, but its lightweight design makes it not too heavy for an electric bike of its type. And its excellent intelligent electric system does a good job of mitigating the effects of weight.
Meanwhile, the Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX motor is not only compact and quiet but also very powerful, with up to 85Nm of torque providing plenty of power.
In addition, the fully integrated battery is set in the down tube of the bike and secured with a lock, so it will not be damaged even on muddy forest roads. Not only that, but the design also prevents theft.
One more thing, I won’t forget the 1×11-speed Shimano Deore RD-M5100-SGS drivetrain, as the rich gearing range and wide range of gears helped me tackle the tough uphill climbs. It took me less effort than ever to complete the very difficult uphill climbs, which is one of the benefits of climbing on an electric hardtail. After finishing my bike ride, I easily booked accommodation on IHG Hotels & Resorts. I can finally relax and rest well.
It is worth mentioning that the intelligent service of this bike also makes me feel more intimate. Easy operation and intelligent adjustment provide me with a more comfortable riding experience.
Main Features
Frame Group
CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 has a modern aesthetic with a stylish paint job that gives it a distinctive look.
The frame part of this bike uses gravity-casting technology to make an extremely strong structure out of liquid aluminum. As a result the frame of the CUBE REACTION is better able to withstand stress without unnecessary weight.
In addition to that, the bike’s internal cable arrangement is complete enough to give the bike a tidy appearance. Moreover, the frame is prepared for us with mounting points for accessories such as brackets and fenders. This design extends the usefulness of the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625.
Geometry
As a trail bike, the CUBE REACTION has a lower 662 mm Stack (we measured an XL size) because we can maintain a forward leaning position for faster speeds.
Speaking of speed, the steep 74° seat tube angle also provides us with an aerodynamic riding position that keeps our riding speed efficient.
In addition, we need a proper head tube angle to ensure steering flexibility in trail riding.
And with a 68° head tube angle, the CUBE REACTION is steep enough. Fast and responsive steering for us to achieve effective technical climbs.
Components and Specifications
Shimano Deore RD-M5100-SGS Drivetrain
The bike uses the Deore RD-M5100-SGS drivetrain from the old Shimano family. So, 1×11 speed range and 11-51T cassette provide us with a wide range of speed options and we can achieve maximum pedal control on all kinds of mountainous trail terrain.
Moreover, the low-profile design of this drivetrain prevents it from being damaged by rock attacks.
Of course, this Shimano drivetrain also has a larger 13T pulley. This means that the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 shifts more quietly and smoothly at the same time.
Shimano Disc Brake BR-MT200 Brake System
The braking system of CUBE REACTION also uses Shimano components, Shimano Disc Brake BR-MT200, which is a hydraulic disc brake with a 3-finger brake lever.
The aluminum calipers and painted steel levers are very strong and create favorable conditions for the powerful braking power of this e-bike.
Not only that, its opposed piston can prevent vibration well and improve the efficiency of the brakes.
Bosch Electric Systems
The CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625’s electric system provides us with more precise control through intelligent design, allowing us to have more fun while riding.
First of all, the Bosch Drive Unit Performance CX drive unit provides a powerful drive for our challenges through an intelligent system that allows us to experience intuitive control.
Second, the PowerTube 625’s battery provides plenty of power for our rides with its lightweight and excellent range.
Moreover, the 4A charger is fast to load, compact and lightweight, making it great for mobile charging. It can charge the battery for about 5.4 hours at 100%. With it, we can ride a little farther with more confidence.
Schwalbe Smart Sam Tires
The modern and unique Schwalbe Smart Sam off-road tire offers excellent all-around performance. The tread pattern is denser in the center and more prominent on the sides. Undoubtedly, the fine design makes the tire long-lasting and durable, while the tire keeps vibrations low and provides a comfortable roll. This is very friendly for our off-road riding.

2022 CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 Trapeze
This hardtail bike has a strong load-bearing aluminum frame, an airy look, and powerful performance.
In addition, the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 Trapeze uses a Shimano Deore RD-M5100-SGS rear derailleur, an ACID electronic crank with an 11-51T cassette, and Shimano BR-MT200 hydraulic disc brakes. It has good shifting and excellent braking power in our ride.
However, unlike the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625, the REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 Trapeze has 100mm of fork travel, so we felt a lot of bumps on some of the dropped terrain.
Also, after our testing, we believe that the geometry of the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625 Trapeze will be a bit more aggressive than the geometry of the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625. This means that the former will be less comfortable in terms of comfort.
Frankly, I would have preferred the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625, because its performance on complex terrain allowed me to experience both off-road excitement and fatigue from bumps.

CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 vS 2023 Silverback S-Electro Diamond Comp
The Silverback S-Electro Diamond Comp is a nice electric hardtail bike. It is more expensive than the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 by more than $900 because the specifications of some of its components are a bit more advanced.
For example, for the front fork, the Silverback S-Electro Diamond Comp chose the RockShox Recon Gold RL shock fork. This fork has a very responsive rebound, and its fine workmanship ensures good durability. Also, the Silverback S-Electro Diamond Comp offers a 1×12 speed shifting range. Therefore, this means we have a little more choice in speed.
In comparison, I think the Silverback S-Electro Diamond Comp is just a little bit better than the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625, but that’s not enough to motivate me to spend more money. I think CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 is good enough.
CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 vS 2022 CUBE REACTION HYBRID RACE 750
The CUBE REACTION HYBRID RACE 750 can be described as an optimized version of the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625. This bike has upgraded the battery, drivetrain, and braking system.
First of all, the battery used is Bosch PowerTube 750, which has more lasting power. Secondly, the REACTION HYBRID, RACE 750 is equipped with the SHIMANORD-M8100-SGS 1×12 speed drivetrain. However, the ultra-smooth shifting and almost silent drivetrain make it quite outstanding on rough terrain.
Furthermore, the Shimano BR-MT420 four-piston braking system used in the RACE 750 has superb braking and cooling performance. It is more precise than the two-piston of REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625.
Overall, both bikes are excellent in terms of performance. While the REACTION HYBRID, RACE 750 does stand out a bit more, it is also more expensive.
If you have a big budget, you can choose this CUBE REACTION HYBRID RACE 750.

CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 vS 2022 Giant Fathom E+ 2
The Giant Fathom E+ 2 doesn’t feel like a good value for money to me. It is not comparable to the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 in terms of fork, transmission, and motor configuration.
For the front fork, it uses the SR Suntour XCR 32 Coil fork. Although it also has 120mm travel, this fork does not have enough sensitivity to deal with the bike’s vibration when I ride. So it was not as effective as the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625 in reducing my bumps.
It uses a 1×10 speed drivetrain, which is not only not as rich as the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625, but also has a maximum gear of 46T. Moreover, the climbing efficiency is not as high as the REACTION HYBRID, PRO 625.
The Giant Fathom E+ 2 is equipped with a 70Nm SyncDrive Sport motor, which is not comparable to the CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 motors.
Therefore, CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 is the winner of this contest.

CUBE REACTION HYBRID PRO 625 vS 2022 Scott Aspect eRIDE 940
The Scott Aspect eRIDE 940 features a rugged aluminum frame and 120mm travel SR Suntour XCM34 Coil shock fork. It also has a 1×9 speed Shimano RD-M3100 drivetrain and Shimano BR-MT200 braking system. The tires are Kenda Booster and a 2A charger is provided.
