Riding Experience
I think the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC is a hardtail mountain bike with a lot of potential.
To find the right route, I chose the terrain-rich state of Alabama. After comparing airfares and hotel prices on Skyscanner, I decided to head to Monte Sano State Park and Land Trust.
It’s worth mentioning that there are 25 black diamond routes and 5 double black diamond routes, so I could also get a more visual feel for the the bike’s fantastic performance..
Climbing
I rode the it to a 3.2km trail called the Bluff Line Trail, which has a long uphill section with a vertical distance of 115m.
At this point the hardtail performances of came out well.
It didn’t have the same pedaling letdown as a full-suspension mountain bike.
Besides, SHIMANO XTR gearing kit with 10-45T 12 Speed flywheel not only reduced the weight, but also allowed me to easily cope with the challenges of different hills.
I was also pleasantly surprised that the MRP RIBBON SL 120mm travel fork provided good support when I was going up hills, and there was no leakage.
The MAXXIS ICON 2.35-inch large grain tires on the front and rear of this bike provided excellent grip over some smooth rocky surfaces and some muddy sections without slipping.
I had to say that the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC climbed better than most hardtail mountain bikes I’ve ridden.
Downhill
I then went to the Alms House Trail to test the descending performance of it.
The trail was steep at the beginning, but fortunately the 120mm travel MRP RIBBON SL fork eased the bumps and was very responsive even when the wheel ran over small grains of gravel.
Secondly, the Womble SHIMANO XTR XC with SHIMANO XTR W/160/160 CL ROTORS hydraulic brakes could also provide very good braking power when going downhill at high speed, allowing me to slow down and bypass some sudden huge rocks in time.
Tire grip was also very important when facing some tight corners. Fortunately, the MAXXIS ICON 2.35 tires lived up to my expectations and kept me safe.
In addition, the ENVE FLAT BAR handlebars had good flexibility, and could catch the slight sway of my hands when avoiding some small obstacles.
The Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC also had a dropper, which was not common on hardtail mountain bikes, and this was one thing I really liked about the Womble SHIMANO XTR XC.
It also allowed me to adjust my seating position in time to deal with different riding conditions.
Specification
First of all, the most striking thing about the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC is its titanium frame.
This is certainly a luxury choice, but it also delivers very good performance.
Compared to other materials, titanium is stronger and more durable, with extreme fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance, giving the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC a long life.
Secondly, the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC is available in four frame sizes from SM to XL, and all feature a 29-inch carbon fiber wheelset and 2.35-inch outer tire, which ensures it has good passing and grip.

The Pivot TRAIL 429 Team XTR Live has good speed performance.
This is due to the fact that it combines the progressive geometry and handling of a long-distance all-mountain sled with the responsiveness and speed of a dedicated racing rig.
In addition, through continuous improvement, the Pivot TRAIL 429 Team XTR Live’s proprietary Hollow Core carbon frame construction saves over 300 grams from the chassis, achieving an XC race frame weight.
But compared to the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC, the latter’s titanium frame is stronger and more durable, and better able to handle impacts.
So for those who are looking for more weight, the Pivot TRAIL 429 Team XTR Live will not disappoint you. But for those riders who are not experienced in off-road, I would recommend the Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC.
Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XCVS Ibis Ripley V4S XX Transmission
The Ibis Ripley V4S XX Transmission is a good combination of modern geometry with its longer front end, wider head tube angle and shorter rear end that allows you to ride with confidence.
While the steep seat tube angle and shorter offset fork allow you to tackle technical climbs with ease.
Compared to its predecessor, the Ibis Ripley V4S XX Transmission features a new UDH chainstay, resulting in great compatibility, and the wider chainline allows for a stiffer rear dropout fork, improving stability.
In addition, although exciting mountain off-road is very interesting, various complex terrain can easily cause damage to the vehicle.
To my surprise, the Ripley V4S adds thick enough rubber at the downtube and raised protectors at the rear lower fork.
Finally, for riders who like big drop descents, the Ripley V4S’s full-suspension design is obviously better for your shock absorption needs.
But there may be some people like me who feel the occasional letdown when driving a full-suspension mountain bike up hills, which is one of the reasons we stick to hardtail mountain bikes.
For this part of riders, Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC is a better choice for you.

Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC VS Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper
The first thing that surprises me about the Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper is that it is available in six sizes, so as long as your height is between 149cm-204cm, you will be able to find the right size frame.
Apart from that, the S-Works Stumpjumper uses 29×2.3″ tires for excellent passing performance.
The front wheel is made of Butcher, GRID casing, GRIPTON T9 compound and the rear wheel is made of Purgatory, GRID casing, GRIPTON T7 compound, both with good grip and puncture resistance.
It’s also impossible to ignore that the Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper has a 1×12 electronic drivetrain, so it’s worth considering if you want a more relaxed uphill experience.

Moots Womble SHIMANO XTR XC VS Transition Spur AXS
For off-road enthusiasts, this Transition Spur AXS must have come into view.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Transition Spur AXS is fragile, but on the contrary, Collet main pivot technology improves rear-end stiffness and keeps the pivot hardware tight.
