After the pandemic, cycling for commuting or fitness purposes has become increasingly popular. To encourage more beginners to join in, I found the Liv Avail AR 3, an entry-level endurance bike.
During my rides, the Liv Avail AR 3 impressed me with its lightweight ALUXX aluminum frame and the latest women’s endurance geometry. The advanced composite fork and D-Fuse seatpost effectively reduce vibrations, providing a very comfortable riding experience. Whether for daily commuting or fitness, it offers great value for the price.
The following sections will analyze the riding experience, key features, components, specifications, and other versions of the Liv Avail AR 3. Additionally, we will compare it to several top bike models in the latter part of this article. If you want to learn more about bike reviews, feel free to follow us.
Riding Experience
Commuter Riding
I have always enjoyed commuting by bike, but I could never find the right one until now. I got my hands on the Liv Avail AR 3, and it has been the most surprising bike I’ve tried in this price range for commuting.
Riding the Ocean Wave-colored Liv Avail AR 3, I feel incredibly cool. During my commute, I often face crowded areas that used to give me trouble. But now, everything has changed. The 71.5° head tube angle helps me navigate through the crowds smoothly. With a 609mm standover height and Tektro MD-C550 mechanical brakes, I can stop the bike in time and avoid any potential dangers.
These features alone make a working professional have high expectations for this bike. I must admit that this bike has deeply captivated me.
Leisure Riding
Weekends are always my time to relax and go for bike rides. This time, I took the Liv Avail AR 3 to the countryside for some outdoor fun. With two bottle mounts, I don’t have to worry about staying hydrated. Moreover, this bike can accommodate a rack, making it more convenient for longer trips and extended playtime.
When traveling from the city to the outskirts, the road conditions always change. However, the Giant S-R3 AC tires have an excellent tread design that adapts well to dry and loose surfaces. Thanks to the Shimano Sora drivetrain, I can find the optimal gear ratio for each road segment, allowing fast and unrestricted riding. Additionally, the D-Fuse seatpost absorbs some of the bumps, providing a more comfortable ride.
Even on winding narrow paths, I can confidently handle the entire bike with the Liv Connect handlebars. The Liv All Condition grip offers excellent traction without causing excessive friction on my hands or slipping during vibrations. Moreover, the Liv Approach saddle, with an ergonomic cutout, effectively relieves pressure and friction. I can sit on the saddle for extended periods without feeling discomfort in my buttocks. I always manage to find a comfortable riding position during long rides.
Fitness Riding
In fact, after the pandemic, fitness-oriented travel has become a trend, and cycling is an effective way to help people stay fit. However, it’s crucial to protect yourself while exercising. Therefore, during long rides, excellent geometry ensures that our bodies are in a proper posture, allowing for effective fitness without causing harm.
I ride this bike for extended periods, sweating freely. This bike is comfortable. The Liv Approach saddle prevents my buttocks from becoming stiff during long rides. Its ergonomic cutout effectively relieves pressure in sensitive areas. After finishing my workout, I don’t feel tired; instead, I feel a sense of refreshment. The Liv Avail AR 3 can help riders exercise their bodies better.
This is an outstanding endurance bike that meets all my needs. I must admit that I love this Liv Avail AR 3.
Specification
The Liv Avail AR 3 is an excellent endurance bike with an ALUXX-Grade aluminum frame that offers durability and lightweight. The composite fork provides good vibration damping, significantly enhancing ride comfort.
The Giant S-R3 AC tires have a size of 700x32C. These tires made of such material are suitable for all road conditions and allow for fast riding in any weather. The high-volume casing provides excellent comfort and enhances the bike’s performance.
Additionally, this bike has two bottle mounts, so even on longer rides, there’s no need to worry about staying hydrated, further improving the sense of security.

Other Versions
After numerous tests, we have gained a deeper understanding of this bike. It is an exceptional hardtail mountain bike.
However, many riders have performance or component requirements, so we found similar bikes for further investigation.
Liv Avail AR 4
Both bikes have identical geometry, and their components are similar. The Liv Avail AR 4 is a decent all-rounder. However, the 8-speed Claris drivetrain is not a plus point compared to the 9-speed drivetrain of the Liv Avail AR 3, which is more appealing.
Furthermore, the external routing of the Shimano Claris components on the Liv Avail AR 4 is not as sleek and clear as the internal routing of the Shimano Sora on the Liv Avail AR 3. Additionally, the front derailleur of the Claris system takes a bit of time to operate when shifting from smaller to larger chainrings. On the other hand, the braking response of the Sora system is slower than Claris, which is a significant downside.
In conclusion, the Liv Avail AR 3 is more suitable for a wider gear range. I recommend the Liv Avail AR 4 if you prioritize safety during your rides.

Liv Avail AR 3 vs Trek Domane AL 2 Disc
These two bikes have a high level of similarity. However, the Liv Avail AR 3 has a larger tire clearance than the Trek Domane AL 2 Disc. This allows for the installation of larger tires, resulting in a smoother ride.
The Liv Avail AR 3 features Shimano Sora components with a 9-speed drivetrain. For experienced riders tackling varied terrain, the additional gear performance offered by the Liv Avail AR 3 is impressive. You won’t hear any extra noise or experience chain slippage.
However, considering that the Trek Domane AL 2 Disc is slightly cheaper, I recommend the Trek Domane AL 2 Disc if you have a limited budget. The Liv Avail AR 3 is better for you if you prefer more gears.

Liv Avail AR 3 vs Canyon Endurace 8 Disc
The Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is compatible with both 650c and 700c wheel sizes. The 700c wheels provide greater stability, while the 650c tires offer more agile handling, allowing riders to tackle various road surfaces. Additionally, it features hydraulic disc brakes. Compared to the mechanical disc brakes of the Liv Avail AR 3, hydraulic disc brakes are more precise and efficient, although the latter is easier to maintain.
The 11-speed drivetrain of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is more appealing to me. It allows for smoother and more efficient climbing. The Liv Avail AR 3’s 9-speed drivetrain performs well in flat areas, where the difference between the two bikes is insignificant.
The Shimano 105 shift levers of the Liv Avail AR 3 are slightly more refined than the Sora components of the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc. However, the Sora has the advantage of providing a flat-bar configuration, which offers a more comfortable shifting experience for riders on gravel, mountain, and city roads.
If you prefer an 11-speed drivetrain, there’s no doubt that the Canyon Endurace 8 Disc is more suitable for you. If you want a flat-bar configuration and frequently ride in flat areas, the Liv Avail AR 3 is the better choice.

Liv Avail AR 3 vs Cannondale Synapse 105
The Liv Avail AR 3 comes with excellent Giant S-R3 AC tires. Regarding puncture protection, the Cannondale Synapse 105’s Vittoria Zaffiro tires perform on average. The 30c tire width of the Synapse offers good maneuverability due to its narrower profile. However, the Liv Avail AR 3’s 32c tire width provides a more stable and solid feel.
It’s worth mentioning that the Cannondale Synapse 105 comes with Wellgo w/ Clip and Strap pedals. This is somewhat rare in the current bike market, as riders often have to pay extra or spend extra effort to find suitable pedals for their bikes.
So, if you prefer larger puncture-resistant tires, the Liv Avail AR 3 is better for you. If you want a bike that doesn’t require additional effort or expenses after purchase, the Cannondale Synapse 105 would be a better fit.

Liv Avail AR 3 vs BIanchi Via Nirone 7 Claris
The Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Claris, equipped with Melt forged Alloy Dual-Pivot caliper brakes, features rim brakes that reduce weight and are convenient for maintenance. However, they have poor heat dissipation and can cause significant tire damage during downhill braking. This is where the Liv Avail AR 3’s mechanical disc brakes shine, providing better braking performance and increased safety.
Additionally, the external cable routing of the Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Claris doesn’t look as aesthetically pleasing, and the black color doesn’t appeal to me. On the other hand, the Liv Avail AR 3 has internal cable routing, which offers a cleaner and more stylish look. It also comes in two color options, catering to the preferences of riders.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a lighter and more affordable bike, and your usual riding routes have minimal hills, then the Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Claris would be a better fit. The Liv Avail AR 3 is the better choice if you prioritize an attractive appearance.
