Introduction
Canyon’s Aeroad line appeared in 2014 and had a number of high points in the midst of that, including a 2015 participation in the Tour of Flanders by Alexander Kristoff. It wasn’t until 2017 that disc brakes were introduced, but their core design didn’t change and a custom version with special geometry was introduced for female riders.
The aerodynamic design gives it a dedicated focus on speed, and its sleek looks, high integration and specs make it a strong contender for top honors. While some of the newest aero road bikes as well surpass the Aeroad’s styling with higher integration, few can match its value.
This bike is equipped with Shimano 105 accessories and deep-section Reynolds carbon wheels, a configuration that allows you to make the most of your speed.
Below we break down the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc regarding road cruising, road downhill, key features, components and specifications, and other versions.

Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Road Cruising Review
Aeroads is so famous that I have ridden several iterations of this series. Same thing, it’s always impressed with its speed. I’m not talking about how fast it is to start, but rather how much better it is at maintaining speed than a traditional road bike. Any part of the bike is designed to reduce aero drag, and the Strava segmented PRs are easily matched to this bike.
Yes, getting the new Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc, I couldn’t wait to take it for a road ride around the neighborhood. The smooth feel is the Aeroad’s strong point, and it can press corners brilliantly with enough stability to give me the confidence to accelerate immediately after exiting the corner. And the efficient hydraulic disc brakes allow me to let loose even more.
When doing a sprint shakeout, I felt a strong frame and a fork that allowed me to pedal hard without loss. But when faced with a long uphill section, the chunky frame made it seem unsuitable for climbing, I’m really splitting hairs here though. You can’t expect it to be strong in every category. But if you crave a fast bike, whether for racing or regular riding, the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc is very satisfying. Because there’s no better feeling than cruising at high speed in a straight line.
Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Road-Downhill Review
The pneumatic frame design makes it suitable for any high-speed situation, and I think the most high-speed moment of the ride would be on the downhill section. As I struggled up a long uphill section, I was glad to finally get to the downhill section, which was my favorite part of the ride. Because I could pull away from the others for a long distance without pedaling, just by choosing the precise corners. Certainly, this was great fun for me as I am not a good climber.
The Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc’s beefy top tube allows me to sit on it and face the downhill, placing my head close to the handlebars so I can go a little faster. And the aerodynamic muscle-like design makes me feel like the air is not a drag, but rather a driving force for me.
As we know, handling is a key feature of the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc, and I can enter every corner with precision at high speeds. Therefore, with the support of strong and efficient brakes, I can confidently and boldly go straight to the bottom of the mountain at high speed.
Main Features
Frame Group
The frame is the ultimate in aerodynamics, with thick and flat tubing allowing it to allow better air flow past the body. Also the internal cable routing design makes it almost impossible to see the cables from the frame, even the seat tube clamps are built in.
And the teardrop-shaped seat tube as well as the mid-pipe design increases the air flow rate while covering the rear wheel so that it is not affected by drag.
This is a frame designed for women, compared to the regular version it has a lower stand height and for the smaller frame equipped with 650c wheels, which is very thoughtful. At the same time the 650b design allows smaller women to get the same geometry experience as the larger size.
Geometry
Designed for intense racing, the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 therefore uses a long and aggressive geometry. Certainly, the very low Stack (539mm) makes it very aggressive, paired with the longer Reach (390mm) and the right wheelbase (984mm) to provide the right balance of handling for smooth high speed driving and agile low speed running.
In addition, the shorter handlebars (147mm) became low and nice, immediately making my body more aerodynamic. But if you want a more upright position, you can also choose to add washers to raise the front slightly.
Components and Specifications
Shimano 105 2×11 Drivetrain
A major factor in keeping the price under control is the use of Shimano 105 components, which is the most cost effective kit that any rider can praise. Because it has the right price and the right feel, which is really a good arrangement to lower the price.
In addition, the 52/36t cog design makes it very desirable for speed, and the 11/30t gearing gives it a good escape speed both uphill and downhill.
Shimano R7025 Hydraulic Disc Brake
The disc brakes are equipped with 160mm front and 140mm rear disc rotors, which in wind tunnel testing was the smallest pairing of increased drag. In other words, it’s a good deal to add just a little weight in exchange for more pronounced braking.
Another benefit of disc brakes is the increased tire clearance of the frame. If you want to do a slightly longer ride, you can change to a wider 28C outer tire. This will allow you to cope with more, for example, gravel surfaces without any significant loss of performance or speed itself.
Continental Grand Prix 5000 700×25C/28C Tires
The Continental is known for its excellent abrasion resistance as well as grip, and this material is even used in Adidas running shoes. It also gives me very good traction when rushing down a slippery downhill with hydraulic brakes, which is one of the umbrellas to keep me going downhill at high speed.
However the tires are not as aggressive as one would expect from the design, but rather a more stable 25C front and 28C rear design. I often see tires as wide as 28C only on endurance bikes, but I made a few descents and the design does make sense. In addition, the 25C front wheel allowed me to cut into corners better, and the stubby rear wheel allowed me to maintain a high level of stability pressing sideways, which allowed me to use my cornering skills thoroughly.
Other versions of Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 Disc
In this review, we tested the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 Disc, which is the perfect aero bike for high-speed riding, with a good experience in terms of cruising on flat roads and on fast descents. Also, it’s a geometry designed for female runners, more in line with the proportional construction of women’s bodies, which is very user-friendly. Besides, in terms of speed, there is probably no one who is its rival.
For this reason we compared its male version, also known as the regular version, and we found that, in addition to changes in the geometry of the frame, the male and female versions have different saddles. The female saddle features a short-nosed saddle as well as a thicker padding and wider seating bone support points to accommodate women, which was a pleasant surprise.
Other than that, there is no difference in configuration between the male and female versions. A lot of bikes are designed with a lower configuration and price for women’s versions, which I think is very unfair. I think this is very unfair, because it also makes many women have to choose the male version in order to pursue a higher configuration.

Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc VS Scott Foil RC 30
The Scott Foil RC 30 puts more budget into the components and uses Shimano’s higher level components, Ultegra, for a better experience in terms of drive feel. And lighter weight than the 105 components, but for the wheelset may require subsequent upgrades.
The Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc, on the other hand, puts more of its budget in the direction of the wheels, offering a better carbon wheelset. And the high frame gives the whole bike better cruising ability, which is definitely more suitable for an aerodynamic bike than the Scott Foil RC 30 with a low-frame aluminum wheelset.
Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc VS Cervelo Soloist Ultegra
The Cervelo Soloist Ultegra has an almost flat geometry, which is aerodynamic and lighter than the Cervelo S5. But at this price point the components are arguably a bit backwards. And in the quest for lightness, it also forgoes a thick, flat tube shape, which gives the bike a better all-around look.
On the contrary, the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc is completely aerodynamic, with a thick tube shape that allows it to better combat the effects of air resistance when traveling fast.
Overall, the Cervelo Soloist Ultegra is a good choice if you are looking for more all-around performance and have a need for aerodynamics. If you are a sprinter or you have high demands for high speed cruising, we suggest you go for the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc.

Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc VS Fuji Transonic 2.3
The Fuji Transonic 2.3 has a very aggressive geometry and a very rigid frame, but this comes at the expense of riding comfort. Many riders on the Fuji Transonic 2.3 say it’s uncomfortable to ride, but it’s hard to resist its speed. And that’s if you replace the aluminum wheelset.
For the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc, it seems to care more about the rider’s comfort level. It felt great when I was riding it, and the flat tubing makes it look more aerodynamic than the Fuji Transonic 2.3 would. And it comes with a carbon high frame cruiser wheelset.
Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc VS Felt AR Advanced 105
The two bikes are very similar in geometry and tube design, but the Felt AR Advanced 105 is almost 1kg heavier than the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc, which is a big difference for a road bike. The reason for this is probably the thick aluminum wheelset, which is the first thing I might consider replacing in a later upgrade.
In addition, I found little difference between them in terms of component configuration, but the Felt AR Advanced 105 is priced a bit higher, which may be the difference in brand premium that Felt has. So I decided to choose the Canyon Aeroad CF SL 7 WMN Disc after I test rode both bikes.
