Rating: (4.8/5)
Summer is approaching and I decided to get an e-bike to avoid getting to the office in a sweaty mess every day.
I chose the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH after a friend’s recommendation and my personal comparison. If you want to know why, read on.
Below, we will analyze the riding experience, key features, components, and specifications as well as other versions of this bike.
Additionally, at the end of the review, we will also compare several best bike models. If you want to know more about bike reviews, don’t hesitate to follow us.
Riding Experience
Commuting
First of all, the geometry of the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH allowed me to maintain a more upright riding position, which is very important for office workers who sit in front of a computer every day.
The wide field of view also helped to respond to unexpected situations early.
Secondly, the Yamaha 250W 60Nm mid-drive engine provided excellent electric assistance and consistent power. I generally used a lower pedal assist on flat roads, and the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH made me feel like I have someone gently pushing me from behind all the time, which was very natural.
When I encountered a steep uphill, I could also switch to a higher boost mode with just a flick of my finger, convenient and effortless.
Even on a hot summer day I could enter the office dry.
Also, the Momentum dual compound grip wass comfortable and had a nice grip, like it was custom-made for me.
At the same time, sometimes I chose routes I hadn’t taken before, and not every road had a smooth surface.
Fortunately, the Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic disc with 160mm rotors front and rear brakes were very fast and natural, allowing me to avoid potholes or stop in time before an obstacle, which gave me a sense of security.
Recreational Riding
Besides commuting on weekdays, I also booked hotels on Skyscanner, packed my bags and rode the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH to the surrounding cities when I had free time during holidays.
The 500Wh capacity Integrated Panasonic battery allowed me to free from worries about running out of power in the middle of a drive, and the 6 levels of assist modes helped me to easily handle all kinds of road conditions.
On flat and wide roads, I tended to choose Auto Assist mode, and the 20+mph speed let me leave all kinds of worries behind.
On top of that, I also usually took some flowery trails, turned down the electric assist, and then tapped the pedals to enjoy the nature.
Although the road was covered with gravel, the large-capacity 2.2-inch Kenda Kwick Seven tires were effective in reducing the feeling of bumps.
Even when the road was slippery at times due to rain, it showed a good level of grip.
Apart from that, the chain guard was well-designed to protect my clothing from the mud and water that splashed when the chain wass spinning.
The Selle Royal Essenza plush saddle was a great relief from the fatigue I was feeling, even though my body was more or less stiff from holding the same riding position for a long time.
Specification
Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH’s Knight Shield has an eye-catching color scheme.
The GTS ALUXX-Grade Aluminum frame makes the whole bike look clean and crisp, while the fork made of the same material provides good support despite the average damping performance.
The tires are 2.2 inches wide, losing some stability advantages compared to 2.4-inch or wider tires, but reducing weight and having better speed performance.
While the loose geometry of the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH may not meet aerodynamic requirements, it delivers a comfortable ride.
The 73° seat tube angle allows the rider to remain planted in the saddle on uphill climbs, which not only improves comfort but also makes pedaling easier.
As a bike for commuting, I think this is one of the strengths of the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH.
In addition, the Yamaha 250W 60Nm mid-drive engine allows you to drive through steep hills with ease, and the Panasonic 500Wh battery provides a long life guarantee.

Other versions
The Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH is a comfortable e-bike. But if you’re petite and want to be able to get on and off better, we’ve made recommendations for other models as well.
Momentum Transend E+, LDS 28MPH
The biggest difference between the Momentum Transend E+, LDS 28MPH and the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH is that the former has significantly reduced the height of the top tube, thus decreasing the standing height from 758 mm to 508 mm.
In addition, the color scheme of Momentum Transend E+, LDS 28MPH is a bit more vibrant.
Both are identical in every way except geometric design and paint job, and both have the well performing ALUXX-Grade aluminum frame.
So if you’re small in stature, then the low top tube Momentum Transend E+, LDS 28MPH is the series for you. If you don’t have trouble getting on or off the bike, then go for the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH, which has a more stable geometry for a more rugged body.

Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH VS Co-op CTY e2.2
I have to admit, the Co-op CTY e2.2 has an enviable 75mm Suntour fork, which makes this bike relatively comfortable on your arms when you’re constantly riding over bumps.
Also, the low top tube design makes it easy for the rider to get on and off the bike and is more stable when stopping, which is very friendly to smaller riders.
Compared to the CTY e2.1, this upgraded version of the Co-op CTY e2.2 has a larger Shimano 250W 60Nm mid-drive engine for better acceleration and hill climbing.
If you’re on a budget, the Co-op CTY e2.2 is a great choice.
But this Class 1 e-bike has a pedal assist of up to only 20 mph, so if you want to experience faster speeds, go for the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH that can reach up to 28 mph.
Also, the Transend E+, GTS 28MPH has more stable 2.2-inch Kenda Kwick tires.
Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH vs Cannondale Treadwell Neo
The Cannondale Treadwell Neo’s fluorescent yellow color scheme makes it eye-catching and easier to locate and thus safer if you’re riding at night.
I was actually very confused when I first saw the Cannondale Treadwell Neo. “Is this really an electric bike?” It took me several minutes to discover the location of the battery.
The hidden design gives it a fresher look, and its lightweight body makes it easy to ride even if you’re not using electric assist.
However, if you need to travel long distances, the Mahle ebikemotion X35, 250Wh battery may not be enough to meet your range requirements. You might want to consider the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH with Panasonic’s 500Wh battery.
Compared to the Cannondale Treadwell Neo, I prefer the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH’s design of placing the controller next to the grip, making it safer and more convenient to switch between auxiliary modes by simply lifting your finger.

Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH vs Giant Roam E+ STA
The Giant Roam E+ STA has a rugged ALUXX Aluminum frame, a high-performance aluminum material made primarily of 6011 alloy that offers a top-notch strength-to-weight ratio.
Its frameset also features a unique welding technology for higher ride quality.
What also surprises me is that the Giant Roam E+ STA enjoys Hybrid Cycling technology, a system that combines electricity and human power, with the SyncDrive Core, a 50Nm torque engine that allows you to ride farther with less effort.
But in the face of some steep hills, I think it’s better to have the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH pedal assist with the Yamaha 250W 60Nm mid-drive engine.
Meanwhile, for commuters with more congested roads, the low-Trail Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH provides faster and more agile steering, allowing you to avoid pedestrians and vehicles in time.

Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH VS Merida eSPRESSO L 300 SE EQ 504Wh
I have to say, Merida eSPRESSO L 300 SE EQ 504Wh appearance is full of mechanical sense, riding it through the steel and concrete city streets should be a cool thing.
The design of the front light is also very friendly to some riders who have the need to ride at night, and reflective sidewalls strips can also improve the safety of riders in low-light conditions.
Also, the high Stack geometry design allows the Merida eSPRESSO L 300 SE EQ 504Wh to offer a more upright riding position, making it a comfortable choice for commuters with less-than-perfect lumbar spine or older people.
On top of that, if you always have to cross bumpy roads, the wide tires of the eSPRESSO L 300 SE EQ 504Wh provide good shock absorption and better stability.
But if you ride mostly on the flat, or need to go over steeper grades, the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH with more engine torque is a good choice.
Summary
These are our tests of the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH, which offers a comfortable riding experience and an excellent range. In our opinion, the Momentum Transend E+, GTS 28MPH is a bike worth buying. All in all we give it a high score of 4.8.
