Rating: (4.9/5)
When I first saw the MOD BIKES Easy, I thought it was a vintage bike. The retro military green paint and the design inspired by World War II motorcycles made me skeptical about its performance. Is it as good as advertised? Can it reach 28 miles per hour? I decided to ride the bike myself with these questions in mind.
In the following analysis, we will discuss the riding experience, key features, components, and specifications of the MOD BIKES Easy, and compare it to other versions. In the latter part of this article, we will also compare it to several top bicycle models. You can follow us if you want to learn more about bike reviews.
Riding Experience
Daily commute
One thing I appreciate about the MOD BIKES Easy as a commuting tool is its adaptability. Even in rainy or snowy conditions with slippery roads, the Tektro HD-E350 Hydraulic Disc brakes perform well, and the Kenda Flame tires provide good traction. However, for safety and a better riding experience, I would adjust the maximum speed and acceleration by pressing the “+” and “-” buttons on the MOD BIKES Easy display screen before setting off. This way, I won’t constantly worry about controlling my speed while riding.
Additionally, I like the design of a 2v USB charging port that is convenient for charging my phone or GPS during the ride. However, there is one thing that I hope MOD BIKES Easy can improve on, the way the battery level is displayed. It divides the battery level into five bars, but whenever I see only one bar on the screen while on the road. Is it still 20% or 10%? Could it be down to only 2%?
Travel
On the weekend, I decided to take a relaxing trip to a small town about 30 miles from home. After booking a hotel on Skyscanner, I set off with my two-year-old Samoyed, Joe. The sidecar of the MOD BIKES Easy provided a perfect spot for him. It was my first time using a sidecar, and it took some getting used to, especially when making right turns, which required extra caution.
The MOD BIKES Easy has an impressive uphill performance. Despite steep slopes, the Shimano Altus 1×7 drivetrain and the 500W 60Nm hub-drive motor made it effortless. And even with Joe and some luggage, the responsive Tektro HD-E350 Hydraulic Disc brakes could stop the heavy bike on downhill sections. Sitting on the high-quality gel saddle of the Selle Royal seat, I felt a great deal of comfort and safety.
Finally, as I approached the town, there was a stretch of gravel road. The wide and thick 24″ x 3″ Kenda Flame tires and the 135mm Rigid Aluminum Alloy front fork made me hardly feel any bumps.

MOD BIKES Easy vs VanMoof S3
The first thing that surprised me about the VanMoof S3 was its design. The top tube extends beyond the head tube and passes through the connection with the seat post, with front and rear lights at both ends. The S3 looks more like a traditional bicycle than the MOD BIKES Easy, but that doesn’t mean it lacks electric power. The button on the right side of the brake lever provides a boost, which is particularly useful when riding uphill. Additionally, it can be a good option for long-distance travel.
Although the 504Wh battery is slightly smaller than the 624Wh battery of the MOD BIKES Easy, you can also purchase a PowerBank spare battery for an additional $348. It can provide an extra 378Wh of power, extending the range significantly.
However, it’s unfortunate that the pedals of the VanMoof S3 are somewhat mediocre and can occasionally slip. The automatic shifting feature can also feel unresponsive at times. If you are okay with these flaws and have a limited budget, the VanMoof S3 is still a decent choice. But if you have higher expectations for an electric bike and want the ability to transport more cargo, I recommend choosing the MOD BIKES Easy.

MOD BIKES Easy vs Specialized Haul ST
Many prefer the Specialized Haul ST as a cargo bike to a commuter. In addition to the front and rear frames, it can be fitted with cargo baskets on both sides of the front and rear wheels. This greatly enhances its transport capacity. And even when you’re loaded, the Haul ST’s powerful 700W rear hub motor and three-inch-wide tires provide plenty of traction. So you don’t have to worry about a situation you can’t ride. What also surprised me the most is that at just over five feet long, the Haul ST is similar to a regular bike, so if you need more room for a slightly larger e-bike, then consider the Specialized Haul ST.
But if you want more potential and playability from your e-bike, the MOD BIKES Easy, which allows you to adjust the vehicle settings via the display, is still a better choice. And the 40mm travel EXA Form 525 suspension seatpost will make you more comfortable on rough roads.
MOD BIKES Easy vs Brompton Electric C Line Explore
Just by looking at the appearance, you can tell that the Brompton Electric C Line Explore and the MOD BIKES Easy are two completely different types of bikes. Firstly, the Brompton Electric C Line Explore comes in 8 colors, providing riders with many choices. Secondly, the Electric C Line Explore prioritizes lightweight design. Its Brompton folding mechanism allows you to pack the bike into a package that is 585mm high, 565mm long, and 270mm wide in just half a minute. If you need to switch transportation modes or frequently travel for business, I find the Brompton Electric C Line Explore very convenient. You can carry it on the subway or store it in the trunk of a car.
However, if you have never ridden a bike with similar geometry, the narrow handlebars and upright position may make you uncomfortable. Additionally, the MOD BIKES Easy is more suitable if you have transportation needs or want to travel with your pet.
MOD BIKES Easy vs Juiced Bikes HyperScorpion
MOD BIKES Easy and Juiced Bikes HyperScorpion both belong to the ranks of excellent electric bikes. For riders who seek speed, both of these bikes have surely caught their attention. The former can reach a top speed of 28 miles per hour, while the latter, powered by a massive 1,000W RetroBlade motor, can even reach 30 miles per hour.
Furthermore, for those who constantly navigate through complex terrains, the adjustable dual suspension on the Juiced Bikes HyperScorpion effectively reduces the impact from the road, providing an incredibly comfortable riding experience.
However, I lean more towards the MOD BIKES Easy. Its geometry lets you maintain an ergonomic sitting position while ensuring full leg extension. Paired with a high-quality Selle Royal gel saddle, it enables you to alleviate the fatigue of the day during your commute back home.
Summary
The above is our evaluation of the MOD BIKES Easy, which offers a comfortable riding experience and excellent transportation capabilities perfectly suited for daily use. Not only does it save a significant amount of physical effort during rides, but it also brings more joy to your cycling adventures.
The MOD BIKES Easy is a bike worth purchasing. Considering the abovementioned factors, we have given it a high rating of 4.9. Explore our related tests if you want to try out more high-end electric bikes.
