Riding Experience
The VanMoof S3 offers a comfortable riding experience, thanks to its smart design that caters to the needs of riders. I consider it a sleek and cool-looking electric commuter bike with a good riding experience.
For this review, I planned to ride the VanMoof S3 on California State Route 1 and booked a hotel on IHG at the end of the planned route. The route runs along the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, with California’s beautiful sunny weather. The scenery is stunning, and the road surface is smooth with few potholes, mostly consisting of long uphill and downhill stretches.
Road Riding
With the assistance of the motor, the VanMoof S3 effortlessly tackles uphill climbs with minimal physical effort. Its excellent frame geometry allows for agile handling during the ride. Cruising along the smooth coastal roads, feeling the sea breeze on my face, I experienced pure joy and relaxation.
On long downhill stretches, I could even glide quickly without pedaling, taking advantage of inertia. The hydraulic disc brakes provided reliable and stable stopping power. Even during continuous braking on long descents, they maintained efficient braking performance.
During these hours of riding, I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and refreshing sea breeze. As time went on, I began to appreciate the bike’s comfort. The integrated saddle design supported my weight well, and the soft padding reduced pressure on my perineal area. The riding experience became even more comfortable and enjoyable.
Commuting
I used the VanMoof S3 as my daily commuting vehicle for a few days. Firstly, the bike’s cool appearance caught the attention of many passersby during my rides.
Furthermore, the 29-inch large wheels provided excellent riding stability. At higher speeds, the larger wheels allow for easier attainment of faster speeds.
The built-in LED lights provided illumination during my night rides, eliminating concerns about poor visibility in the dark. This added an extra level of safety to my nighttime rides.

VanMoof S3 vs Specialized Turbo Como 3.0 650B
These two bikes are excellent E-BIKE commuter bicycles from both brands.
The first one has a more stylish and futuristic appearance. It features a more integrated frame and a higher level of intelligent mechanical systems. Additionally, the 29-inch large wheels provide better traction and riding stability. It also has a higher top speed for cruising.
The second bike has a more comfortable geometry, offering an upright riding position. It provides enhanced comfort during long rides, reducing strain on the lower back. The 650b wheels offer more agile handling.
In conclusion, between these two bikes, I would recommend the VanMoof S3. It offers more advanced technology and includes anti-theft alarm functionality.
VanMoof S3 VS CUBE TOURING HYBRID ONE 500
These are two electric commuter bicycles with different advantages.
The first one has a design that I like, with a futuristic and clean-looking frame that catches attention while riding. The front and rear fenders are designed to reduce splashing in rainy weather or on wet roads.
The second one features an SR Suntour NVX30 Coil suspension fork that absorbs some of the shocks and vibrations on bumpy roads. It also comes with front and rear fenders. Additionally, it has a built-in cargo rack, adding long-distance touring capabilities.
However, between these two commuter e-bikes, I still prefer the VanMoof S3. I appreciate its smart features and futuristic design.

VanMoof S3 vs Canyon Precede:ON 5 step-through
These two bikes, compared to each other, both have good looks and sturdy aluminum alloy frame bodies.
However, the first one has a more advanced smart system and includes anti-theft alarm functionality. It also offers a more aggressive riding posture and has stronger cruising capabilities on flat roads.
The second one features a lowered top tube design, which makes it easier for riders to mount and dismount. This design is also advantageous for female riders wearing skirts. It comes with built-in fenders and a cargo rack, adding practicality to the bike.
Lastly, between these two bikes, the VanMoof S3 is lighter in weight compared to the Canyon Precede:ON 5 step-through. I prefer its appearance as well.
VanMoof S3 vs Orbea VIBE MID H30
These are both electric bikes suitable for daily commuting and feature aluminum alloy frames. However, the latter uses a carbon fiber fork. Thanks to the deformable nature of carbon fiber, it can absorb some of the vibrations on bumpy roads.
The design of the VanMoof S3 is something I’ve always been satisfied with. It’s a futuristic and eye-catching bike that stands out wherever you ride. It also offers many practical features that are helpful during your rides.
On the other hand, the Orbea VIBE MID H30 is more like a reliable commuter electric bike without too many standout features. Its performance, however, is equally dependable, making it a bike you can rely on.
So, both bikes are excellent choices. It depends on whether you prefer a more innovative riding experience or a more stable ride.
