Rating (4.7/5)
Imagine having a rough trail in front of you with some bare rocks scattered on the road, and you need to leap down on your bike at this time. Feel the extreme speed on the steep slope. But at the same time, you may fall at any time in the face of sharp bends, and it is even more difficult to control the direction in violent bumps. When you complete this section of the road, you will gain an immense sense of achievement. And this GT Sensor Sport can give you all of that, even better.
The scientific geometry design gives you a comfortable riding position, while the 1×11 drivetrain allows you to face different terrains. In addition, the RockShox Recon Silver RL fork is used to fully absorb the bumps on the road, bringing a great riding experience.
So let’s introduce this bike in detail. I will introduce it in terms of its climbing, descending, main components, and main features.
If you want to know more about bicycles, welcome to follow us, and thank you for your support.
GT Sensor Sport Climbing
For a full-suspension bike, excellent performance is essential. And this time, I am very much looking forward to its performance in climbing.
For this test, we went to the countryside 30 km away. There is a forest path that is very suitable for off-road riding, and the road is densely covered with tall trees. I rode my bike freely through the forest, and it was a wonderful moment when the sunlight came in through the leaves.
The road was scattered with some raised roots and a few rocks, which made for a difficult climb, but the GT Sensor Sport did not disappoint.
First of all, the WTB Breakout tires are in full contact with the ground and provide sufficient traction. And the 29-inch specification even has good passability and can pass well in the face of obstacles.
The winding trail is uneven in terrain in addition to its gradient. And that’s where the 1×11 drivetrain comes in handy. The Shimano Deore is known to do a good job in this area, both in terms of smooth responsiveness and precise gear changes. This allows me to ride well when dealing with different roads.
The GT Sensor Sport has been with me for a while now. I am very grateful to have such a bike with me, taking me through the mountains, across the streams, and through the beauty of nature.
GT Sensor Sport Descending
Of course, in addition to its excellent performance on the climbs, the GT Sensor Sport is no slouch on the descents either.
We were returning the same way we had gone up the mountain, and the steep slope that had previously hindered us became the best help for a quick descent.
I was riding fast along the hills, and the GT Statement grips kept me firmly in the right direction. Its RockShox Recon Silver RL fork came in handy when facing bumps.
Because the 140mm travel can effectively and efficiently absorb the vibration generated when riding, and with the 130mm rear shock, it gives me a good cushioning effect when jumping. At the same time, the application of an aluminum alloy frame is a guarantee of quality, allowing me to jump with confidence.
In addition, there is a dropper designed on its seat post, which further enhances my riding experience.
I enjoy the thrill of jumping through the woods, it brings me back to my youth. And the Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic disc brakes are the backbone of my daring ride.
The powerful braking performance can effectively brake, and the sensitive responsiveness is the full protection of my riding safety.
When I arrived safely at the bottom of the hill, I was still reeling from the excitement of the ride I had just taken, which made me excited. After finishing our bike ride, I easily booked accommodation on IHG Hotels & Resorts. I can finally relax and rest well.
Main Features
Frame Group
In addition to the excellent performance of the GT Sensor Sport, I also love its cool appearance.
Moreover, the application of an aluminum alloy frame makes the body quality guaranteed, which can cope with the impact of bad terrain. What’s more, its seat tube and top tube are connected by triangle welding technology, which also makes it has good sturdiness and light enough in weight.
In addition, I like the color of it. The application of the dark red paint with the white brand logo exudes a wireless vibrancy that is very cool.
One thing that must be said is that its cable is wired from the outside. This also makes it vulnerable to damage when riding, but of course, it is also very easy to repair.
Geometry
Everyone’s opinion is not always the same when it comes to the geometry of a bike. But for me, the geometry of this bike meets my requirements for a full-suspension bike.
The first thing is the 43cm seat tube length, which makes it very easy to get in and out of the bike. At the same time, the standing height of 76cm is just right for me, I can just hold the body without getting off.
Secondly, the right head tube angle (65.5°) provides fast and responsive steering ability, allowing you to handle corners well.
In addition, the steep seat tube angle (76°) is a great way to keep your body weight in a proper position, making pedaling more efficient.
Regarding geometry, I can only say that what suits you is the best.
Components and Specifications
RockShox Recon Silver RL Fork
This RockShox Recon Silver RL fork provides a great boost when riding. The 140mm of travel is effective in absorbing vibrations from the road and it performs well in the face of bumpy roads.
And, optimized materials are used in the support and sealing areas for excellent stiffness and steering accuracy.
I love the comfort it brings to the ride, which makes it more fun for me when I’m off-road.
WTB Breakout Tires
In terms of tire application, this bike uses WTB Breakout tires. These tires perform very well in forest road riding. Not only does the wide tire make it a good grip, but the tread pattern on the surface of the tread provides friction on wet trails. There is no doubt that it will allow you to ride smoothly and give a comfortable riding experience.
And the use of materials gives it excellent wear resistance. Therefore, it can cope well when facing bad roads. This certainly provides great help for off-road.
Tektro HD-M275 Brake
For the choice of brakes, GT Sensor Sport uses this Tektro HD-M275 brake. The application of hydraulic disc brakes gives it a strong braking ability, and it is good at holding the body well in the face of steep descents.
In addition, the design takes full account of the rider’s experience. Ergonomic design allows you to use the process and can all be more comfortable in the braking.
And, it also has good heat dissipation performance. At the same time, it also has a good braking ability after many high-intensity tests, which protects your riding safety.
Other versions of GT Sensor
In this test, we have also tested other versions of this series to give you more options. We hope you have a more comprehensive understanding of this bike.
GT Sensor Carbon Elite
Like the same series of full-shock forest road bikes produced by GT, it uses a higher specification configuration. And the application of a carbon frame not only greatly reduces the weight of the body, but also has excellent quality assurance, making your body more sturdy.
In addition, changes have been made to the drivetrain, and the 1×12 drivetrain has more options for shifting, allowing you to tackle more terrain.
Not only that but also in the damping effect is also excellent. Because it has the same large fork travel, it can fully absorb the vibration generated when riding.
Of course, this also makes it more expensive in terms of price. As for how to choose, then it depends on how much budget you have.

GT Sensor Sport vs Trek Top Fuel 5
As a full-suspension bike, there are requirements in terms of damping. And both bikes have excellent performance in damping.
In terms of the fork and rear shock selection, both bikes use the same components. The difference, however, is that the GT Sensor Sport is larger in travel than the Trek Top Fuel 5. This also makes it more effective in terms of actual damping during the ride.
The process off-road will always encounter different degrees of bumps when the better damping effect to bring the riding experience is undoubtedly better.
In actual riding, I prefer the pleasant feeling that GT Sensor Sport brings to me, enjoying the freedom to move through the woods with pleasure.

GT Sensor Sport VS Marin Rift Zone 27.5″ 2
If you were to ask me what I would focus on when choosing a bike, then I would answer you: “Tires”. A great tire will help your ride tremendously.
The Marin Rift Zone 27.5″ 2 uses Vee Tire Flow Snap tires. The Tackee compound is used in the material, which provides excellent abrasion resistance. So it can drive very well in the face of complex terrain.
The GT Sensor Sport, on the other hand, uses WTB Breakout tires. The 29-inch size gives it better passability off-road, and the wide tire surface provides enough grip and traction.
I do prefer to ride on larger tires. If you are like me, you might want to try this GT Sensor Sport.

GT Sensor Sport VS Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy
The performance of this Specialized Stumpjumper Alloy in actual riding is really good. Whether it is the damping effect brought by the driving process or the strong braking ability in the face of sharp corners, it shows its excellent performance.
And it uses a 1×12 drivetrain for shifting, which makes it good and well in the face of different roads. As we all know, the fast responsiveness makes you have a more comfortable riding experience.
The GT Sensor Sport may be a little less powerful in terms of drivetrain, but it is no less powerful in other aspects of performance. The 140mm shock-absorbing fork is also effective in reducing the vibration from riding. And the hydraulic disc brake is to protect your riding safety. The most important thing is that the price is more favorable, which will be a good choice for some friends with a low budget.
GT Sensor Sport vs Canyon Neuron 6 WMN
Geometrically, the Canyon Neuron 6 WMN has a steeper head tube angle and a slacker seat tube angle. This gives it more responsive steering and a relatively upright riding position. If you have your riding habits and certain requirements for geometry, then you can choose according to your actual situation.
Other than that, I was attracted by the handsome look of the GT Sensor Sport when I first got both bikes. I’m not a big fan of pretty colors, as I get dirty a lot. The bright paint color of the Canyon Neuron 6 WMN requires a lot of cleaning for me.
If you’re like me and the geometry fits, then this GT Sensor Sport will be the one for you.
