Riding Experience
Before setting off, I also booked accommodation through Skyscanner to give myself ample space to rest and prepare. The sun was just beginning to rise over the rugged terrain of the Nevada mountains, casting a warm glow on the rocks. As a professional endurance racer, I knew that today’s race was going to be a tough one. The Mammoth mountain bike race is known for its technical terrain and long, grueling climbs. But I was prepared, with the reliable Juliana ROUBION R/Carbon C mountain bike, and I knew it could handle the challenge.
The first stage of the race was a steep climb up to the top of Mammoth Mountain. The trail was narrow and rocky, with loose dirt and gravel, making it difficult to maintain traction. But my Juliana ROUBION R/Carbon C was able to easily handle the climb. The bike’s full-suspension design provided ample traction and control, even on the most technical sections of the trail. The Truvativ Descendant kit offered a wide range of gears, allowing me to confidently tackle the steepest sections of the climb. As I reached the top of the mountain, I felt a sense of exhilaration and ease. The Juliana ROUBION R/Carbon C had proven itself to be a reliable, capable climbing machine.
Technical Descending
The second stage of the race is a technical descent along the rocky face of Mammoth Mountain. This mountain trail is steep and treacherous, with loose rocks and significant drops, requiring precision and control. However, my Juliana ROUBION R/Carbon C once again proved up to the challenge. With its 160mm front and 150mm rear suspension, the bike provided a smooth ride, even on the most technical sections. The RockShox Lyrik fork offered excellent damping and control, allowing me to confidently navigate the rocky terrain. The hydraulic disc brakes provided reliable stopping power, allowing me to brake hard when needed and maintain speed on technical sections. As I crossed the finish line for the second stage, I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction. The Juliana ROUBION R/Carbon C had once again proven itself to be a reliable and capable machine.

The final stage of the race was a long and grueling climb to the summit of Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous United States. The bike’s full suspension design provided ample traction and control, even on the most technical climbing sections. The Truvativ Descendant kit once again offered a wide range of gears, allowing me to maintain my cadence and power output even on the steepest climbs. As I reached the summit of Mount Whitney, I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride.
