Although a full-suspension cyclocross bike has a very good anti-vibration effect, it is also relatively heavier. This will make us consume more energy when riding. However, when choosing a road cyclocross bike, we can not worry about this problem.

In the last three months, the Cannondale SuperX 1 has brought me a new experience that has shattered my previous impressions of road trail bikes.

BallisTec carbon construction provides a unique advantage for the Cannondale SuperX 1 to achieve ultra-lightweight with top stiffness. Plus the Shimano GRX 800 11-speed hydraulic disc set, makes it easy to tackle obstacles and brake safely.

The surprise was its WTB Nano TCS Light tires, with large 700×40c vacuum tires that also showed excellent grip.

Cannondale SuperX 1 Off-Road Review

When I first got the Cannondale SuperX 1, I couldn’t wait to get out to the bike park and see if it could hold up to the title of “the ultimate off-road bike”. Knowing that the bike park has an extensive network of trails, it was perfect for evaluating an off-road bike.

The Cannondale SuperX 1 uses a BallisTec carbon frame combination that is strong and lightweight and has very good shock absorption capabilities. This gave me a very good initial impression of the Cannondale SuperX 1.

As I entered the mountains, I saw some large and small rocks on the already rugged singletrack trails, which made me sweat for the Cannondale SuperX 1. But the Cannondale SuperX 1 showed me that there was nothing to worry about.

First, the 700×40c WTB Nano TCS Light tires delivered power to me on the jagged rock and sandstone walls, helping me make steady progress on the winding uphill trails. Also, the vacuum tire configuration greatly reduces the risk of accidental flat tires.

Secondly, the 71.0° head tube angle provides a modern, comfortable feel to ensure consistent speed and sustained agility to achieve technical climbs at the same level. The Cannondale SuperX 1, a road trail bike, is also equipped with the trusty Shimano GRX 800 2×11 drivetrain, which makes me very comfortable when shifting. With the sound of the frisbee spinning rapidly and the leaves whistling past me, I felt like I was wrapped in a gust of wind and moving through the forest. It was a great feeling.

Although you may not believe it, I would say that the Cannondale SuperX 1 felt more like an old friend and trustworthy throughout the trail, making me feel right at home.

Cannondale SuperX 1 General Ride Review

For riders like me who like to seek out thrills and challenging trails, I don’t usually consider riding on flatter terrain. But the Cannondale SuperX 1 gave me the idea to break with tradition. Maybe it was because of the great performance that I wanted to have a richer ride with it. So, we went to a bike park in Queenstown, New Zealand, where the scenery is very beautiful.

We chose the beginner route, which was not very difficult, but the scenery along this route was really beautiful. I cranked up the Cannondale SuperX 1 to the maximum speed and went through the dense woods and flew over the lakes along the route with the warm sunshine pouring down on me. I think it would be good exercise to have a ride like this every day.

The lightweight and powerful 2×11 drivetrain allowed me to release all my weight while riding, almost feeling like I had melted into the wind and was incredibly free.

The comfortable Cannondale 2 saddle is so comfortable that I couldn’t get off during the actual ride. It’s not only soft and wrapping but also supportive. Even on big bumps, the hips are barely sore and numb.

Yes, it has extraordinary performance, both in off-road riding and in general terrain.

First of all, the 73.5° seat tube angle adds a reliable boost to achieve efficient climbing. Therefore, even if I encounter steep road conditions, I will not easily retreat.

Secondly, the relatively steep 71° head tube angle provides us with enough responsive steering to help us improve safety after we finish our jumps. It will also help us avoid obstacles in time.

In addition, we can see that it has a standard BB height of 281mm. this allows you to keep your center of gravity in the right place, and also has a higher pedaling efficiency with the coordination of the steep seat tube angle.

In short, the bike’s thoughtful geometry can bring more convenience to your cycling trip.

We can see that the Shimano GRX 810 is a 2× drivetrain, which would seem to some to be a more troublesome gear shift. But in actual riding, it didn’t make me feel that way. And, with a 2×11 speed range, it allows for more speed options. It allows you to choose the right speed for more riding routes for an easy ride.

In addition, the adjustable stabilizer used in this drivetrain allows for more precise shifting on all kinds of terrain. And, no more worrying about the chain suddenly falling off and affecting the ride.

First of all, it has an SRAM Rival 1 drivetrain, and the 11-speed range may not satisfy riders who need speed.

But it also comes with a hydraulic disc from SRAM Rival. This is a pretty good setup for a lightweight bike. However, the sensitivity and ability to “cross” gravel are not as good as the Cannondale SuperX 1.

In my opinion, the Cannondale SuperX 1 with its 22-speed shift range, ultra-light carbon frame, large 40c WTB Nano TCS Light tires, and ultra-high clearance beats the Liv Brava Advanced Pro 1 with its 11-speed drivetrain configuration of advanced composites and 33c tires.

However, this bike is not comparable to the Cannondale SuperX 1 in terms of configuration though. But it has more paint color options.

The Giant TCX Advanced Pro 1 is a bike that has attracted a lot of attention since its introduction. It has chosen the same Shimano GRX drivetrain as the Cannondale SuperX 1. After all, Shimano does do a great job at this, being nimble and light!

Another highlight of the Giant TCX Advanced Pro 1 is its choice of the exclusive SRL 2 carbon rim. It reduces the burden of the tire for the rider and also strengthens the solidity of the tire.

However, there is a lot of feedback from riders that this bike lacks some comfort when facing gravel. Due to the limitation of 1×11 speed shift in downhill and sprint, it cannot have a satisfactory speed experience.

In my opinion, just adding $100 would give me a better experience all around. Then I would choose the Cannondale SuperX 1.
